Arsenal Balls: £7m Reasons Why Pep Guardiola Will Head To Manchester United

by | 1st, November 2014

THE London Evening Standard reports that “Arsenal will join race for former Barcelona boss when Spaniard leaves Bayern Munich”. That former Barca boss is Pep Guardiola.

But how does Writer Paul Smith know Arsenal will be after the Spaniard?

Pep Guardiola is expected to quit Bayern Munich at the end of next season – just when Arsene Wenger might be ready to relinquish his role as manager of Arsenal.

And that’s it.

Wenger might go. Wenger might not go. He should go upstairs at the Emirates.

But Arsenal won’t get the Spaniard. Why? Answer: Money. Guardiola is the world’s best-paid football manager who manages the richest clubs. The Daily Mail produces a list of managers’ wages:

1 Pep Guardiola, Bayern Munich, £14.8m
2 Jose Mourinho, Chelsea, £8.37m
3 Marcelo Lippi, Guangzhou, £8.34m
4 Arsene Wenger, Arsenal, £6.89m
5 Fabio Capello, Russia, £6.51m

Does any Arsenal fan believe the Gunners will pay over twice Wenger’s wages to secure Guardiola? And then buy the players Pep needs?

Only one British club is rich enough to pay those kind of wages and buy the talent. And Pep knows it, telling one and all in October:

In Pep Confidential: The Inside Story of Pep Guardiola’s First Season at Bayern Munich, written by his close friend and journalist Marti Perarnau, the former Barcelona manager admits to being seduced when watching Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United in 2011, saying: “I like this atmosphere. I could see myself coaching here one day.”

Pep to Arsenal is a pipe-dream. And, in any case, the Gunenr should be seducing his German league rival, Borussia Dortmund’s Jürgen Norbert Klopp.

Now there is a talent…
