Another female teacher has been caught having sex with children. Anne Lakey, 55, has been convicted of having sex with two underage boys, one of them 13 years old.

Lakey, of Stanley, County Durham, has been Chief Executive of the Durham Federation of Schools and is a trained Ofsted inspector. She abused the children when she was in her late 20s and married.

One victim, now aged 41, who came forward in 2012, says:

“She took the towel off and was completely naked, I was stood next to her and we laid down on the bed and touched each other. She said something along the lines of ‘come on then’ and I laid down on top of her.”

He was wearing his school uniform.

“We used to tell each other that we loved each other. We would lock the door and go upstairs and have sex … once maybe twice a week for several weeks, if not a couple of months.”

In December 2014 another man said Lakey took his virginity on a camping trip in 1989. He told Teeside Crown Court:

“The atmosphere of having sex for the first time, being in a woman’s tent with her husband 20 yards away was a mess of confusing feelings and images. It was a tumultuous night. I sneaked back outside the tent, it was a mixed experience. I was sort of happy with my little self that I had lost my virginity before I was 16 which seemed important at the time. But everything was over so quickly and I felt it should have been more interesting than that. Everything was a great mess of emotions as I left the tent.”

In court, Lakey says she had “Absolutely not” had underage sex with the boys. She says she only had sex with one of them after he turned 18. She said:

“I’m a mum, I have a daughter, I have a husband of 21 years, I live with my family, my dog, my two cats, my allotment, my two hens. And yes, I did have a career.”

The abuser lied, making her victims relive the crimes over and over.
PS: A 2009 study found up to 64,000 women in the UK are ‘child-sex offenders’.
