The sitting ‘senior Labour MP’ accused of crimes against sick children and ‘young ragamuffins’

by | 20th, July 2015

News is that a senior Labour MP has been accused of child sex abuse.

The Telegraph:

A senior Labour MP has been reported to police by Parliamentary colleagues over allegations he sexually abused boys, it has been claimed.

Reported. Allegations. Claimed. The story is all smoke.

Two MPs reportedly passed on their concerns to police after hearing accusations against the unnamed MP stretching back at least a decade.

Concerns. Not evidence. Not proof. Just a thought. Do these two MPs have names?

The two MPs, one Labour and one Tory, independently went to police about their Parliamentary colleague after being shocked by information they had received, the Sun reported.

In the Sun, we learn:

HORRIFIED MPs have called in police after receiving information that a top Labour politician is a paedophile who preys on young boys — and has a liking for “young ragamuffins”.

The figure, we learn, is a sitting MP.

It is the latest in a series of sex abuse scandals to rock Westminster — and the most serious because the accused is still a serving MP.

Two other MPs independently reported the former minister to police after being shocked by information they had received. The allegations, from a variety of sources, “made their blood run cold”.

Wow. This human being sounds terrifying.

The two have accused their Parliamentary colleague, who cannot be named for legal reasons, of a wave of sickening offences.

The Sun then lists the allegations:

They have told detectives they believe that the MP:

Believe?

— HAD lads “delivered” to his room at a hotel near a police station

By whom? What age were the lads? Did the police or the hotelier know?

— ABUSED boys at a hospital’s mental health unit

— LEFT one so terrified he fears for his life if he ever speaks out

SHOWED an “unhealthy” interest in the two young sons of a local councillor

— DISPLAYED a liking for “young ragamuffins”, and

— WAS seen as untouchable by police because of his revered position.

Is this figure still untouchable? It looks like it. One MP who told the police says:

“Several people who have never met one another were all telling me the same, or similar, stories of corruption, indecency and paedophile offences.

“I was told that as far back as ten years ago, he was having young boys delivered to a hotel just a few hundred yards from a local police headquarters. But some of the cases were as recent as 18 months ago.

“The final straw came when I heard allegations that he had been abusing two youngsters in a mental health unit.

“After I was told about this, I thought for an hour or two and decided I would never forgive myself if this turned out to be another case like Jimmy Savile.

“I picked up the phone and made a call to a very senior police officer.”

Eh? The MP’s redline was hearing that this MP was allegedly abusing the mentally ill. The other stuff about the alleged corruption, indecency and paedophile offences were treated in confidence? Wow! And that part about relaying the allegations to a “very senior police officer” sounds horribly vain and self-aggrandising.

As for being “another Jimmy Savile”, well, all we know for certain is that the BBC stalwart is dead – it was only after death that ‘Sir Jimmy’ was found guilty of crimes against children.

The MP went into the force’s headquarters and spent 45 minutes giving names and details of the allegations to two detectives.

He said the officers made full notes of everything, but refused to respond when he asked them what would happen next.

What does happen next?

A second MP says he has given information to the same force, but refused to give full details.

And:

Last night a police spokesman declined to comment. But one of the MPs said a senior officer has since told him: “We are all over this MP.”

Over in the Mail, we get a name:

One of the informants, Labour MP John Mann, passed details about the prominent individual to officers earlier this year.

And this is all promising:

The Conservative MP’s allegations about the MP, which date back to the late 1980s, include claims that the MP had been arrested for indecency in a public place with a minor – during which he is said to have assaulted the arresting officers.

It is claimed the MP had performed political favours for the owner of a brothel in his constituency in which men consorted with underage males.

The Sun reminds readers:

Former Tory Home Secretary Leon Brittan was one of a number of high-profile people named as regular visitors at Elm Guest House, where children were allegedly abused by a paedophile ring in the early 1980s.

The boarding house in Barnes, West London, was run as a gay brothel in the 1970s and ’80s.

A link? No, surely not.

But this is good:

A BBC News team, headed by a journalist who specialises in reporting on sex abuse crimes, is also understood to have had access to the information. The team, which has been granted significant resources by bosses, has already started interviewing potential witnesses about the MP. Director-general Tony Hall has been made aware of the special project.

Such are the facts.
