Der Migrant: topless refugee fashion shoot at Hungarian border done in best possible taste

by | 8th, October 2015

Hungarian fashion photographer Norbert Baksa saw the huddled masses at his country’s border and thought it an idea to get some refugee fashion chic going on. On his website and Twitter feed, fashionistas can coop a load of “Der Migrant”.

Baksa says it’s all been done in the best possible taste. The topless stunna in the barbed wire is “not intended to glamourize this clearly bad situation,” but “to draw the attention to the problem and make people think about it.”

He adds:

“I hoped people would realize that the situation is very complex and see that they are taking stands based on partial or biased information… This is exactly what we wanted to picture: you see a suffering woman, who is also beautiful and despite her situation, has some high quality pieces of outfit and a smartphone.”

Is he saying the refugees are posing for the cameras? Or is he saying that the fanciable refugees are the only one’s he notices? Or is he just talking crap?
