Life With A Price Gun In America: Shoppers Step Over Stabbed Woman
AMERICANS are supposed to be a friendly bunch, always saying hi to neighbors and greeting each other with a friendly “how are you?”
So it came as a bit of a shock to residents of Wichita, Kansas, that as a 27-year-old woman lay bleeding to death on the floor of a convenience store on Saturday no one came to her aid.
In fact, shoppers were so unconcerned with the woman that four of them stepped over her in order to pay at the cash register. And a fifth, stepped over her four times as she went about her shopping, pausing a fifth time to take a photograph with her cell phone.
During that time, the victim LaShanda Calloway struggled to her feet three times before collapsing on the floor.
When shoppers finally called 911, a good two minutes after the stabbing took place, Calloway was rushed to hospital. She died later of her wounds.
Wichita police spokesman Gordon Bassham described the two-minute pause, which was captured on the store’s CCTV camera, as “one of the most disgusting examples of disregard for life I’ve ever seen,”
“It is a very, very tragic video to watch,” Bassham told the Wichita Eagle. “It was revolting to see this lack of humanity.”
Calloway was stabbed once in the stomach after an altercation with a 19-year-old girl in the store. Two people have since been arrested, including Cherish M. McCullough, 19, who was charged with first-degree murder.
Cops have refused to release the store video saying that it is part of their investigation.
But the cell phone camera photographs of Calloway lying on the convenience store floor have started to appear on the Internet. Needless to say, Calloway’s relatives (see video) are not pleased.

brad, you are just as bad as the people who stepped over this woman. you are moral trash.
maybe this will help you:

(see #2)
some of you were interested in the race of the people involved, and someone else mentioned they were all black. ok, so now i’m sure some of you are going to think to yourselves that there is a connection between the immorality of these shoppers and the fact that they were black.
that’s foolishness. just think of white lynch mobs . . . i’m sure we’ve all seen the photographs of lynched black bodies hanging from trees with a crowd of white people gathered around grinning. these people not only stood by indifferently while a brutal murder took place, they would cheer for it and were eager to get in a photograph of it.
THAT’S AT LEAST AS BAD AS THE WOMAN TAKING A PICTURE WITH HER CAMERA PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, it’s true he didn’t get away. Mind you, it was probably hard to leave with an enraged mob trying to kick the crap out of him.
Little too much involvement perhaps?

I saw the video and everyone involved in this case was African American. It is also possible that the victim was widely known and disliked for some reason. Whatever causes this to happen, I completely agree that it is incredible and disgusting. A wounded animal would get better treatment.
The exact opposite happened recently on teh Southside of Chicago. A driver killed a child crossing the street and tried to get away, but was captured and detained by a large group of people who saw it happen. The driver did not get away.

LaShanda? Sounds like she’s black, which is a high crime in Kansas and many other redneck states. Did the report tell the ethnicity of the people stepping over her?
There’s something to what ExConvict says too, many people are terrified to get anywhere near the police in President Georges America and may have thought that they could be accused of something.
Lots of paranoia here and with just cause. I’m a middleaged white guy and I dont trust them either.

This story reminds me of the inmate mentality of not getting involved in anything unless it directly involves you. Any contact with the police whatsoever could have resulted in one fo those shoppers getting his probation or parole revoked. These people know the system pretty well, and so they did the math and somehow IT MADE SENSE for them to let her die. To me, this is not really a reflection on the individuals themselves, but the politics of the social dynamics which they are forced to abide by.
ANY police contact whatsoever could result in being locked up yourself, or even falsely accused. To be honest, I think that only a very brave person would have helped the dieing woman in that neighborhood.
I could be wrong but I think I am at least partly right. This tragedy is partly the result of having so many people being processed through prison system and being sucked in to prison culture. This is the type of story you would expect to see occuring INSIDE prison walls.

I live in Wichita, and to Jan(USA) we are not a town full of zombies. That is an unfortunate incident that happened to this young lady, and believe that justice will be served. So think before you judge our whole city please.
