Google Earth Sees A Swasticka At US Navy Base
THANK to Google Earth, the New York Times is able to bring us this image of a Naval Base Coronado near San Diego. See it?
The Navy plans to spend $600,000 for “camouflage” landscaping and rooftop adjustments so that 1960s-era barracks at the Naval Base Coronado near San Diego will no longer look like a Nazi swastika from the air.
The offial line:
“There was no reason to redo the buildings because they were in use,” a spokeswoman for the base, Angelic Dolan, said. She added that the buildings were in a no-fly zone that is off limits to commercial airlines, so most people would not see them from the air.
“You have to realize back in the ’60s we did not have the Internet,” Ms. Dolan said. “We don’t want to offend anyone, and we don’t want to be associated with the symbol.
Did no-one notice at the time? Conspiracy theorists and truthers your thoughts please…

Bloody idiots. The swastika does not belong to the Nazis. It is an ancient symbol used in Asia for hundreds of years, and still used! Soon we will have easily offended monkeys demanding cultural change in Asia because they do not understand the history of a symbol.

What about us Nazis who WANT to see it! They’ve just got no respect for minorities these days…

Many know that Prescott Bush… baby bush’s grand daddy was very much in love with Hitler and Nazism… he liked it so much, that he tried to arrange, with the help of Maxwell House, Heinz and a few other high powered industrialists… to overthrow FDR… back in 1933.
They say that the best place to hide something is usually right in front of you eyes, because that is the last place people tend to look…
this swastika, I think… merits the same… ( it was the “hidden” object.. right in front of your eyes)..
I find it kind of ridiculous that people are saying “they didn’t know”… what do you mean… the second world war was still very fresh in the minds of the world, back in the 60’s… you mean to tell me that the architect behind these barracks was unaware that his building looked like a swastika… that person had to have made a drawing… it’s common procedure.. and it obviously would show that the building looks like a symbol that many people hate… so why? Why would they construct something like this?
As another poster has mentioned… the swastika is an ancient symbol… but that really is beside the point… when one sees a swastika… we automatically relate it to Hitler and Nazi’s.. you would have to agree on that… unless you are amidst that very very minuscule minority…

Why would they? Because not everyone relates the symbol to the Nazis.
When I see the Christian cross all I see is death and war.

Thank goodness for a slow news day, eh?
What exactly was/is the point of the original story and what should/could be done about any of this now? Faced with a myriad of real-world problems, how heroic that we worry about this one…..
