SAYS Barack Obama in the NY Post: “I am a devout Christian. I pray to Jesus every night and try to go to church as much as I can.”

I am a supporter of the Democratic Party in US politics ( I am a Brit and live in the UK) as they represent the more shall we call it liberal element of politics in America.Even though Senator McCain is an odd choice for the Republicans and more to the left on a lot of issues than is normal for that party he is just too old I belive to do this extremely important job.
So , getting back to the choice between Clinton and Obama, I would have to say that I favour Hilary Clinton because she has more experince and would , I am quite sure, be able to rely on the total support of her husband. Obama is a man for the future and I feel sure that his day will come but not yet , far too soon for him now.It would however be something of a dream ticket if they could combine and have Barak Obama go for the vice presidency and Hilary for the top job , this way everyone is a winner and who knows it may tey happen although it is not yet talked about.
I believe a Democrat will win after 8 awful years under G W Bush , it really is time for a change for the sake of the whole world now, and so it will either be a woman, for the first time, or a black man for the first time, the USA is a truly remarkable country and I wish them well.

In the Uk this would not be an issue and not even discussed, we do have some muslim MP`s , as here religion and politics are kept very much apart. It is strange that a country so diverse as the USA insists that it`s politicians are church going christians.Okay up to 75% of the US population regularly worship in church but it is also a violent ,crime ridden, gun carrying and drug soaked society with the death penalty and aggressive overseas on-going military actions.
It is possible to watch the tv evangelists at work preaching the bible and extreme forms of christianity and then switch channels and watch an episode of “The Sopranos ” and see the other side of how this great nation works.Mind you the characters portayed in the hit mafia show are God fearing Italian catholics who just happen to be in to organised crime.
Lets hope that the next incumbent of the White House is a moderate believer and does not make statements like Bush did when he said that ” God told him it was right to invade Iraq”, now that , to me anyway, is a real problem with politics and religion.Remember that ended up with Abu Grahib and Guantanamo Bay and is still very much ongoing to my utter dismay.
