I am not questioning her english grammar .for me thats okey..But the my question is??she doesnt even know how to construct a simple english..and my point isshe didnt even anwer the question correctly.Whats the point of having a Q & A portion.
she lied……for me shes lier.
1. she said its her first time in pageant.
she used to be the first runner up in MS.UE.university… >>>> so she has experience .
2.she said she didnt even hear the question….she start saying “my pamily role for me is so important”…..thats the question…..why the hell she said she didnt even hear.
3.In her interview with jessica soho..jessica said..KAUSAPIN MO ANG MGA NANGUNGUTYA SA YO SA ENGLISH.
janina said:..di ko po kayo mapiplease.(ay english po pala) sana po suportahan nyo po ako sa darating na pageant.
jessica soho said: would you rather be smart or beautiful?
janina: sim …..or aka same
Interview knya kay MO TWISTER.
Mo Twister: So Janina, how does it feel to win Ms. World?
Janina: Thanks Mo. I feel confidence.
Mo: So, where will the Ms. World Pageant going to be held?
Janina: Uhhm I still don’t know… uhmm sorry, I’m not good in Geometry…
Mo: Baby doll, that would be geography.
Janina: ahaha, uhmmm yeah
Mo: So where is it going to be held.
Janina: I hope its somewhere in Europa because I want to go to France.
Mo: I see.
Janina: I want to learn to speak France.
Mo: Uhmmm that would be French. The language in France? ok, Never mind.
Janina: Ah ok. I thought France is the mmm… Mcdo? You know Fries?
lahat ng sagot nya…palpak..
ano ang aasahan mong panalo sa kanya.
I hate to say this..pero talagang MAHINA SYANG UMINTINDI.

When I saw this on YouTube I was so embarrassed that this pinay represents the Philippines….GEEEESH, an educated person can speak English…..At least the Indians can……she’s a joke! Janina….LEARN TO SPEAK so that you CAN REPRESENT……Looks will not get you all the way…especially if you want to come to AMERICA……This is a cut throat world baby! LEARN TO SPEAK!!!!

Please leave her alone! It won’t help criticizing her all the time. I don’t know her but she deserves a break!!!!
Another suggestion in my mind is that if she decided to join the contest then I would suggest that she will answer the question in tagalog. There are Beauty contestants that are non english speaking and they won the pageant. Chances are she will be on top 5 (hopefully) if she will answer the question in tagalog because she can express herself more .
Let’s support her rather than redicule her.

Janina shouldn’t be blamed that she won the contest! She joined and proved something for herself .
It’s a learning tool for the Judges to re format the criteria to be a Beauty Queen. Judges have to remember that she will be competing with tall, sexy, intelligent, Smart beauty Queens all over the world.
I strongly agree that Q & A should have the highest percentage in scoring rather than Beauty.
My suggestion is that either Janina will step down and give way to the first runner -up, or to send her for a comprehensive English Tutorial .
Please don’t laugh at her, it’s not her fault!
I am so sad that Filipinos still have the Crab Mentality. When will we change our view in life.
Support Janina not to grind her down!!!!

The judges should be ashame of what they did. They chose that person to represent all of the Filipino young women. They don’t deserve to judge and they are making the binibining Pilipinas a joke. If they didn’t let Janina win,the joke is on her but no! They let her win, so, the joke is on the pageant, on the judges and to all young Filipino women. She also said that it’s her first time to join a beauty pageant. She’s first runner up of Miss UE. Can somebody tell me where to see Janina’s biography?
March 30th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
Janina is not to be blamed. The judges have the power to choose in accordance to the criteria. The pageant should publish the criteria on judging binibining Pilipinas to the public. It could be that the inteligence is just a small percentage on the criteria for miss world-Philippines. Whoever is the chairman of the judges, she should have decided if it’s proper to let Janina be the winner. Janina shouldn’t be blamed because she didn’t choose herself to win. The Binibining Pilipinas organization should choose better judges next time, not people who are chosen just because they were daughters/sons of rich people. They should let former international Filipina beauty queens to judge next time.

So sooory but it sound more like a money contest (under the table?)than a beauty and brain contest. That is how corrupt our country anyway. There is a lot of real beauty pinays in our country to represent us around the world it’s just that they are not connected to anyone powerful enough to back them.I was embarass for her because people her in abroad think that we are that dumb. Please Pilipinos it’s time we stop this people representing us in any form of contest,be it in sports or beauty contest.
P.S
I Totally agree with Shannas comment.
March 14th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
She’s an embarrasment not because of her bad English but because she’s a SOCIAL CLIMBER Why couldn’t she just answered in Tagalog then I would be more proud of her. Now everyone thinks Filipinos are Wannabees……wanna be WHite. I think she should not have won for the simple reason that she’s not proud of being a FILIPINO.

Damn! the judges were so stupid.
I want to be more pathetic with her but I can’t help the fact that…
It’s not all about being fluent in english..
It’s not about memorizing the dictionary & getting an English lit degree from Harvard.
It’s the thought that counts.
I hope that if she speaks in her native language she will deliver something constructive & true.
I don’t like her because she is a lie.
She has a manipulative personality & used selective honesty to disarm the judges.
What’s with her lame excuse of being only 17?
& she didn’t expect that she will be in the top Ten?
( Well , she shouldn’t have joined in the first place if she expected to LOSE).
What the… is all that lecture on being true to yourself & the size of the fight that a dog gives in the war?
Here’s your doG:
Osama Bin laden and along with some serial killers who always have lame excuses
are so true to themselves, brave & confident.

I think we’re all over reacting. The point is she did her best and you can’t question her if that’s her best.

good english = good brains –> UNTRUE
good english = good candidate in an english-speaking pageant –> TRUE
good english = good answer if you choose to answer it in english –> TRUE

At least she didn’t forget her p’s and q’s. Phewwww!!!! LOL But she definitely is in major need of a speech therapist to correct the pronunciations of her P’s and F’s. It was well and good that she wasn’t asked if she liked travelling. Okay, let me try and make something up on the spot.. here goes…..;)
For instance;
Judge Vivienne Tan: Do you like travelling?
Janina San Miguel: Yes, I love going on holidays but I drag about the
PACKING (FACKING) bit. I hate PACKING (FACKING)
my bags, it’s too much of a chore hence I get my yaya to do
the PACKING! (FACKING)
Judge Tan: What’s wrong with PACKING? Should you win one of the
coveted titles tonight you would be forced to do some
serious PACKING when you head off overseas.
Janina San Miguel: Yes, (trying to remain humble), winning has never crossed
my PACKING mind. Oh I’m so sorry…Ahhhmmm, I mean,
the “PACKING my own bags” bit has never crossed my
mind… coz I’m only 17 years old and this is really only my
first ever PACKING pageant. ummm I’m so PACKING
sorry. But should I win tonight, be rest assured that I’d be
all PACKED up. I mean to be in that state is PACKING
important. Don’t you all agree? PACK you. Wait….Sorry,
Oh I my God, I meant, Thank-you.

i like her she can laugh at her own mistakes, i think she can take all the ridicules she’s getting right now. I hope she’ll be challenged to prove that she deserve the title. there’s always time and place to improve. BTW that’s a beauty contest.. check the qualifications pls.

Why don’t we just understand her and don’t over react. Instead of giving bad judgements why don’t we just solve the problem by supporting her and not criticize her. It’s not an immortal sin anyway. Condemnation will not help her….Yes we could excersice our freedom of expression but giving such a point-blank opinion to someone who’s not doing anything seriously wrong is not your priority. Why don’t you try to listen yourselves speaking the language and try to brush up your own grammar. Guy’s my point is we are not Americans and Englishmen. We are Filipinos, maybe this is the time that the WORLD hear our native langauge. Let her speak her mind and use our own langauge. Being true to once self is what we need. I’m still proud of her. This is not her fight it’s all our contest. IT’S NOT THE SIZE OF THE DOG THAT MATTERS INA FIGHT BUT THE SIZE OF THE FIGHT THAT DOG GIVES IN THE WAR.

ohh that was so funny—she should be comedian —go girl— ilke it—anyway beauty contests are beauty contests who cares about the brains—right gentlemen
March 11th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
LOL.
She knew that she wasn’t good in English. She knew that she may answer in Tagalog.
The rest is just plain stupidity with a dash of trying to show off.
March 11th, 2008 at 4:12 am
It’s a beauty contest, and she is definitely way ahead on looks^^. I’m not really an avid fan of such pageants (actually I think it’s a waste of time) but when I saw her on the local news, I coudn’t help but find her adorable. Heck, that’s what I would call entertaining. She is a lovely bright eyed kid (17 years of age) who shone under distess. She kinda reminded me of Cameron Diaz singing real bad and still managing to charm the audience from her movie My best friend’s wedding - Janina just had a hollywood moment wouldn’t you agree? Besides, it’s not her fault she can’t speak english well, no need for envious people/attention-hogs like Ruffa Gutierez to bash her for it. Can you speak fluent german, good spanish, some french, some russian and a little italian on top of english and tagalog? Well just because you don’t and I DO doesn’t make me a better person does it now. I was just born earlier, experienced life in a different fashion and was lucky at one point or another. I’ll bet my bottom dollar on Janina San Miguel making it big in the game of life.
Make love, don’t hate. Peace!

gosh man…Philippines won’t win again!
its so embarrassing…she didn’t even answer the question…!!!!!
March 10th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
This is embarassing! She should have spoken in Tagalog!
