David Mamet Is Not A Brain-Dead Liberal

DAVID Mamet tells us “Why I Am No Longer a ‘Brain-Dead Liberal’”

  1. 1 Karen Says:

Where does he tell us it???

  2. 2 Tony Gillotte Says:

David Mamet never was a liberal in any literary, actual or visceral way. He has now become a rich, tight assed conservative who is worried more about his Wall St. investments than he is of the victims of Katrina who have yet to see the market working for them.

All they have seen is the Bush administration fail, one attempt after the other, to provide something approaching humanitarian aid for those folks who lost everything, that was nearly three years ago.

Mamet is and always was a poseur from the cigar chomping postures of his posed publicity stills, where he could only wish he were as radical, progressive and poetic as his early hero, Brecht.

So, now we have the carnival barker out with his latest bookselling con, a late in life acknowledgement of what he was from the very begining: a tarted up, foul mouth playwright who wrote one good play: GGGR.

Oh, yes, what was the name of your latest pontifications on the anguish you suffered at the hands of the Hollywood schlockmeisters? Poor David, better go back and check on your bank accounts and let Obama finish the job that you only dreamed of doing when you were young and reckless.

Just be sure to contribute to your new found hero, Mr. McCain, he’ll help you to realize your newly found conservative nirvana.

And we’ll mourn the passing of David Mamet, he never truly understood the world.

    Tony Gillotte

  3. 3 John Lynch Says:

We’ve given billions of dollars to the Katrina “victims”. New Orleans was a bastion of liberal welfare entitlements, it is no wonder they haven’t progressed more than they have. They’ve been taught their entire lives that someone else is supposed to take care of them and not to have any personal responsibility.

Yeah, lets let Obama the socialist continue to bury the country with entitlements that punish those who work hard, get an education, and try to stay off the public dime. After all, I can’t take care of myself, I need the government to do it for me.

  4. 4 Jennifer Says:

Interesting comment from Mr. Lynch. Perhaps he does not know of the recent study of Western countries to find the “happiest” people in the Western world. Turns out it’s the Danes. Why? They have free health care, free elder care, free childcare, free university education. AND they pay some of the highest taxes in the world. Turns out that maybe the Democrats are on the right path. What makes people unhappy and fretful in the “free” world? An uncertain future and believing their government is squandering their money. And yes, Mr. Lynch, some day you may not be able to take care of yourself. Hopefully your govenment will be there to do it for you.

  5. 5 Dabney Braggart Says:

We are in fact punishing those like me who work hard. We work so hard, and suffer humiliation or just the presence of people we mildly dislike, for hours nearly equal to half the average Pakistani brick-boy’s…and poor people aren’t even _starving_.

I mean, sure, my small family have a house four times bigger than we need to live, dependable sewage, gas, and electric, an auto-mobile machine…but what good is all that unless the poor suffer? Even Heaven is not Heaven without the spectacle of the suffering of those in Hell….

I mean, if people stop fearing afraid and humiliated, they might act as if they had _rights_, like they were real people, like good white people like me and Jim and the Huxtables.

Big Gummint really _is_ that poisonous; look a the stats:
    Slavery 240/so years
    Jim Crow 110 years
    Great Society programmes 42 years
    (
    fully funded 3 years
    benignly neglected 12 years
    starved 27 years
    )
—the Great Society, loosely construed, has lasted only 42 years, 27 of those in an enervated state, and yet it’s done more damage to poor people in that time than 350 years of active government and social oppression of Black people…that’s some Gummint. A Free Market would have _made_ those poor New Orleaneans grow gills.
