Media Whores, With Lizz Winstead, Tracie Egan And Moe Tkacik
LIZZ Winstead is in coversation Tracie Egan, and Moe Tkacik, writers from Jezebel.com on her show Thinking and Drinking
Tracie: “I once paid someone to rape me once.”
Tracie: “Well, I didn’t pay for it, I had a magazine pay for it
Tracie: “I moved here when I was 18 and you think you would encounter more rapists in a big city like this, but, I don’t know, I just haven’t.”…
Moe on how she felt about her rapist:
“I always felt very like, safe around this guy even after he date raped me”
Winstead finds it all deeply disturbing, so much so that she writes about her girly chat, post videos of it and solicits a debate.
Meanwhile, the Jezebel girls wonder why anyone should ever took them seriously and doesn’t realise that it’s all just chatter designed to shock and attract attention.
Winstead is writing on the Huffington Post, which features this delightful post:

I think calling the show “THINKING and Drinking” is a bit over the top - there ain’t no coherent thoughts going on there…
where does the “shock” factor turn to sheer disgust? I think this must be pretty close to it….

I had a magazine pay someone to rape me! What the hell is this all about???? Could someone please enlighten me. I know I have been out of the country for a few years but there seems to be some very strange things going on in the British media. For example who’s Lizz and this strange girl Tracie who seems to think she is safe with a guy who’s idea of romance consists of whacking her over the head with a chemical cosh and shagging her while she is unconscious???

Not Alice Through the Looking Glass but (A)lizz Watching herself in the Looking Glass?
Lizz expresses her outrage about female ‘role models’ talking about their sexual experiences on video by making a video of herself talking about her sexual experiences.
I take your point…

It was. But I like this to show how the media loves to talk about the media, and Winstead is complicit in her own “look at me!” outrage…

Come on Anorak, why bother with these petty matters when there are vitally important issues at stake?
Surely the McCain Ape Rape Joke was a lot funnier…
