SARAH Palin. Phew!
Then we thought it was Tina Fey! What a relief to find out that McCain’s running mate is an extreme right wing, gun-toting, sightly-wacky Christian anti-abortion novice governor from a corrupt wilderness state who herself is embroiled in an ethics and sex scandal, born in the heart of White Supremacist Idaho and unlikely to draw single Hillary fan.

Sarah Palin is appalling. She has no real experience. She knows almost nothing about foreign policy. She doesn’t know anything about international/global finance. She doesn’t actually seem to know what a VP *does* or even what they’re supposed to know. She can’t seem to keep her own speech and syntax under control when under pressure. Her own handlers don’t trust her to talk to the press because every time she does, she pulls another boner. (The “real” America?!) And she thinks staying just this side of outright racist comments is okay, because, well after all, she didn’t really SAY it, right? So it’s okay, right? It’s what we’re all thinking, after all, deep underneath, RIGHT? Well, aren’t you?
I’m not. Maybe you are.
On the plus side, most men would happily sleep with her, and she connects well to people, or so they tell me — I’m assuming that they mean people besides their supporters who are bigots and racists who think being an Arab means…well, I’m not sure what they think it means. I mean, even McCain apparently thinks that being an “Arab” means you’re not a good family man or something, so I suppose I can’t blame them more than I blame him.
On top of all that, she actually says that she stands for change and sweeping the old guard out of the way, with a straight face, when she clearly IS the old guard, and every description of her governorship not only says so, but also clearly indicates that her administration is rather klutzy at being the Good Old Boys. (Have you READ the actual report? The person who kept trying to keep her and her administration out of trouble and embarrassment, who kept warning them that this would come back to haunt them if they weren’t very careful, was…the guy she fired.)
She’s a “hockey mom” whose personal family financial worth is about three million dollars. Just like you and me, right?
I could have just handled McCain in the White House, but not Palin. I felt, just a few weeks ago, that whether McCain or Obama won, that it would be okay. After watching McCain make mistake after mistake in this campaign, I don’t think so anymore. One of his biggest mistakes was choosing Palin as his running mate — sure, for a week she was great. After that…not so good.

Almost anyone can read a speach as Sarah Palin does. Palins ability to avoid answering questions directly is what scares me. Shows an inability to think for herself, watching her in interviews, it is obvious she knows very little of issues and uses religion to appeal to many people which I believe should not be allowed. More wars is not what America needs.

At some point it will dawn on campaigners that there is nothing on the ballot that allows only the ’serious’ votes to be counted.
It might even dawn on campaigners that calling your fellow voters dumb may not be the best way to motivate them in a direction you wish them to go.
In the meantime, however, I should very much like to know what ‘hole handedly’ means…

To paraphrase Einstein:the definition of insanity is to do the same action ,over and over again, and expect different results.
If all the yahoos vote to elect a guy that( doesn’t remember how many homes he owns,if his mother sued his ex wife and )says Palin is vice-president material, then it will be four more years of R crap. Can the U.S afford to stay on this road to nowhere?
Change from a qualified new guy is always better than the same old stuff carried out by an old man.
If Palin is so effective why didn’t she keep her daughter from becoming a statistic.
She can’t manage a family how would she manage the vice-presidency?
I don’t even want to ride in a vehicle driven by a 72 year old man, never mind him having his finger on the button.
Voting for Palin just because she is a woman is as bad as voting against Barack because he isn’t white.
Heaven save us from the dumb folks that know how to vote.

It is true, Palin is a woman - big deal. That may get a few votes, but ANYONE who votes solely on the premise of sex or race is not a serious voter. Neither attribute makes a person more or less qualified to lead this nation.
What scares the Democratic AND Republican Parties about Palin is that she has cast out the corrupt and over-privileged status quo of a previous Republican gubernatorial administration. She has turned down pork barrel spending that they all live off of, and more so — every multimillionaire Washington insider condescends as they try to convince us that they are grass root politicians who understand the American people, that they understand the issues facing American families; and now they are all faced with the real deal.
Early in her administration as governor, there were serious doubts that she would have what it would take to stand up to Big Oil in Alaska. It was quite typical previously to see politicians sign off on deals that would not benefit the state, just to get their name on a deal or to line their own pockets. But Palin has stood them off and set those big dogs reeling, and she has gotten a better deal. She has done more for the State of Alaska in half a term than the three previous governors combined. I was a doubter, but she has convinced me hole handedly.

“…liberals never disappoint with their stereotyping of people.” - Isn’t this in fact a stereotype?
If you’ve been hearing a very faint, high pitched sound ever since August 31st not to worry. It’s eminating from Chappaqua where Hilary has been letting out a primal scream that goes something like, “Aaaaaah! That page in the history book was supposed to be mine! 18,000,000 cracks in the ceiling. I was supposed to be 18,000,001 - not her!!!!!”.
Seriously, it’s like she was dumped by the entire country for some perky floozy that tells you exactly what you want to hear. “Er, sorry honey but she can field dress a moose. You know, you never did that for me when we were together and I think I deserve that.”

I love how republicans like to pull the sexism card when it applies to their inexperienced VP candidate, when they had no problems attacking Hillary when she was running. If Palin wants to run with the big dogs, she’s going to have to handle the scrutiny just like every candidate — whether female or male. Barack’s still doing it, even now.

NH, get your facts straight. Palin did not fire the state trooper. The controversy is that she allegedly fired the Public Safety Commissioner for not firing the state trooper who happened to be her sister’s ex-husband. Palin’s sister and the state trooper had been through an acrimonious divorce during which the trooper allegedly threatened Palin’s father. The issue is that Palin’s actions in dismissing the commissioner for not bowing to the pressure to fire the trooper could be considered an “abuse of power.” The underhandedness of supposedly using her position to dismiss people she doesn’t like is the problem here, especially considering that Sarah Palin sells herself under the image of “cleaning up corruption” in government.
As for sex scandal, there’s nothing beyond rumor to indicate that she has done anything wrong in that respect.
I do take issue with your suggest criticism of Palin is the result of jealousy. Disliking someone or disagreeing with their politics does not mean that there’s any jealousy involved. Would you agree that Palin is jealous of Obama for criticizing him? No? Okay then, don’t use such a flimsy excuse to dismiss criticisms of Palin.

I have no idea who tina pay is.
But I know this… Sarah Palin is not what the US needs, and I have my doubs about mccain as well so. Obama is not great either. Man… you guys are stuck.
September 7th, 2008 at 7:17 am
Since when is it a scandal to fire an out of control state trooper?
IF she HADN’T fired him you’d be screaming nepotism.
And I’m not sure what the ‘ethics and sex scandal’ might be???
She had a baby, by her own husband. Or is that not allowed these days??
The jealousy is breathtaking. Liberals do not make sense.
And they exaggerate so much that they are not to be taken seriously.
September 7th, 2008 at 7:14 am
Wow already she’s a white supremacist because of the state she came from?
It’s true — liberals never disappoint with their stereotyping of people. They are so do as I say not as I do… and this proves it.
Boy are they scared. Obama is toast.
September 4th, 2008 at 12:32 am
wow, it sent early, so dont accuse people of being sexist when they just dont like a person, your degrading women by thinking, if a woman is being criticized, it must be only cause of her sex…
September 4th, 2008 at 12:25 am
well.. cant you just not like a woman because you dont like them? i mean, what you guys are saying is that the people who dont like her, dont like her because shes a woman, and not a person who has no experience (what republicans used against barrack the most) and has very conservative ideas… i mean, no one gave hillary a hard time about being a woman, if they did, the democratic party wasnt crying about it, McCain is just putting a woman on the ballet, hoping to get hillary supporters, if you look at their history, McCain didnt really even know her before this

You can’t expect a liberal to base anything on facts. It’s all a popularity campaign with them. They always vehemently defend things they know nothing about and issue personal attacks in place of well-researched rebuttals.
The party couldn’t be more ignorant.
September 2nd, 2008 at 6:20 pm
I agree. Don’t you just hate women who stand up for what they believe in? As usual, the left wing doesn’t disappoint.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:15 pm
What a dumbass rant. Why don’t we give this most impressive woman a chance, at least. Personally, my health care costs way too much the way it is, just wait until the federal government tries to take it over. You haven’t seen anything yet! I will at least listen to any woman who fired members of her own party for corruption. That’s really what washington needs NOW!
