2008 Chinese drummers are calling up the ancestors on BBC TV. Live!
They are drumming on Arks of the Covenant. The terracotta army will come to life and kill us all.
Fireworks. More smoke. Or smog, as we must call it.
Fireworks creating “burning footprints“.
Burning carbon footprints.

Whatever you say, the opening Ceremony was a spectacle to be amazed at, we won”t see it topped at Future Venues.
Whatever the Political issues on Human rights etc, the Chinese who migrate never
cause any trouble, do not make demands on the host Country and work hard.
They maintain their Carbon footprint, based on population, is much lower than
any Country in the World. Perhaps if the rest of the World had vountarily reduced
their Carbon emissions and not bought the allowance of poor Countries China might have had more respect for the idea.

Quality opening ceremony! Glad I’m not stoned these days or those visuals would have blown my tiny little mind. Much more conceptually sophisticated than all that fannying around in lycra one usually expects.
I agree with val. In the face of the usual prejudice and mockery, Chinese immigrants have never appeared to kick up a fuss, taking it in their stride and conscienciously getting on with life in the host country. Respect.
Some twat in a petrol station was banging on about not doing his bit environmentally “cause the Chinese are the problem”. I had a proper benny at him on the pollution-per-head of population statistics as aforementioned. He admitted he was a racist and fucked off.
