Kat Deluna Murders The US National Anthem
IT’S pop sen-sation Kat Deluna. Yaaaaaay! Kat by name, cat by singing style.
Ms Deluna was commandeered to sing the national anthem of the US of A at the start of an American Football match. Americans love to hear their national anthem, it being proof that despite so much evidence to the contrary, theirs is the land of the brave and free.
For similar reasons, the Chinese national anthem begins “Arise, ye who refuse to be slaves!” the French chant “To arms, to arms, ye brave!” and Russians sing up for, “Long live our Fatherland, land of the free, The eternal union of brothers nations.”
So that’s Kat Deluna, everyone. She no Rolf Harris, granted, but with time, she and her beard can grow.
Neither is she a John Redwood miming to the Welsh National Anthem and hoping that no-one had noticed?
O, say can you still hear, or are your ear-ear-ear a-bleeding, the Star Spangled ba-ha-ha-ha-hanner-nererrr…er…

The problem is there are too many no talent people in the music industry. She is definately one of them. Anyone who enjoyed her singing should proceed immediatly to the doctor to have their hearing checked. Kat should find a new line of work. Maybe she can work the drive through at McDonalds.

I thought she wasn’t that bad, it didn’t seem too “jazzed up”. Anyways, she has a lovely voice….everyone who sings a National Anthem has their own style….what is truly disgusting is when people like Roseanne Barr crab their crotch while singing the American anthem….
But leave it to the Americans to boo this young lass with a truly magnificent voice….

Bugger JD, I think the Hendrix Star Spangled Banner was awesome.
Even when he didn’t set fire to his guitar…

So JD…. what do you think of the Hendrix version of our anthem?

I agree, Meercat, it is just as bad as if a singer tried to jazz up the UK’s National Athem God Save the Queen - now can’t one imagine Her Majesty’s reaction to that being jazzed up.

Why o why do pop singers & “artists” and those who “manage” them think it’s ok to give artistic license to the National Anthem?

Caro,
First off it’s rediculous to make make sweeping generalizations that encompass an entire country. Second, if you are not e member of a particular body it is absurd of you to judge that bodies preferences. Third, it’s even more unbelievable that a Canadian would fins some sort of fault in our treating of the American National Anthem considering in recent years the Canadian National Anthem was changed to accomodate the french speakers and now over half of your country doesn’t even really know the “new version.” Lastly, you must be completely tone deaf. Kat DeLuna’s “performance” was all over the place. It’s not that she took artistic license and did some stylitic vocal runs. It’s that the runs she tried to do were grossly misplaced and most of the time out of key. She was sharp and flat all over the place. Please reserve your comments for the Candian Anthem and it’s performers. Oh and really, you can have Celine Dion seriously. The prolem is she seems to like it better here in the USA.

This American turns the channel or mutes it until after the Anthem is sung. I don’t hate my country or anything, I just don’t like the song. Boring.

Katerwailing. Blame Whitney Huston, she started the over modulation ball rolling.
Thanks Anorak, now my poor ears need an antidote, lets see - cue Roberta Flack

Americans are too conservative.. Kat DeLuna was very good. She just gave some rythm at the anthem. I’m from Québec, and we don’t boo our signers when it comes to add a little of their touch to our National Anthem. If you want to ear the boring old way of signing the Star Spangled banner, ask our wonderful Celine Dion!

That isn’t murder; it’s too nice a word.
Even Attila the Hun wouldn’t force his prisoners to endure Kat; death would be a merciful release…
