I think this started as a gun control topic, and you’ll not hear me say that the US isn’t nuts on that one, but it’s pretty much unfixable at this point.
Here’s the kicker though: even with us shooting each other all the damn time AND being morbidly obese to boot, our life expectancy is still roughly equal that of the UK and Australia, and way ahead of South Africa. Imagine what would happen if we DIDN’T have guns!!! They are apparently needed to balance the cumulative effects of the NHS, poor dental hygiene, alcoholism, AIDS, and generally poor attitudes.
