David Cameron Employs Tony Blair To Save His British Business

sugar brown cameron 300x159 David Cameron Employs Tony Blair To Save His British Business DAY 2 of the Daily Mail’s campaign to help small firms, and the drive is already bearing dividends.

What are the odds that the campaign that coincided with the Government and Opposition’s drive to help small business would be such an instant hit?

If only the politicos listened.

“First day of the Mail campaign brings action from the Government and key pledges from the Tories.”

Hurrah!

David Cameron Is Not Short On City Friends

bradford and bingley David Cameron Is Not Short On City FriendsDAVID Cameron says “You can bank on me”, at least this is the message the Independent relates to its readers from the Tory Party conference.

And it’s a good job that the Bank of Cameron is open, but not all that good, maybe, if Lady Louise Patten, wife of Tory education minister John, is running things.

Until recently she was a non-executive director of Bradford & Bingley, aka Bring & Buy, aka Boom & Bust etc.

And there is Christopher Gent, director of Lehman Brothers, who has given tens of thousands of pounds to the Tories.

David Cameron’s Flawed Debt Story

DAVID Cameron has been quiet on the banking crisis. Want to know why? It’s because he and his party have nothing meaningful to add:

Cameron is then directly quoted, saying: “I think that we have had a failure of regulation and we have had a debt boom that went on for far too long and it reached into parts of the economy it shouldn’t have done. The whole thing has become infected and it has got to be dealt with.”

A propos our previous post, Cameron is playing with fire taking this line. For sure, it is generally agreed that that has indeed been a “failure of regulation”, but by far the bulk of regulation, and the regulatory structures, are of EU origin. They are not within the gift of Cameron to change, without taking on the European Union, which the leader of the opposition shows no sign of doing. But to pretend that they are “Gordon Brown’s” is a very silly strategy indeed.

Isn’t it all the failure of capitalism?

AmericaInTheWorld And British Stupidity

KNOW that AmericaInTheWorld has commissioned a poll to check how ignorant the British are about America. How ignorant? Very.

A poll of nearly 2,000 Britons by YouGov/PHI found that 70 per cent of respondents incorrectly said it was true that the US had done a worse job than the European Union in reducing carbon emissions since 2000. More than 50 per cent presumed that polygamy was legal in the US, when it is illegal in all 50 states. . . .

The survey showed that a majority agreed with the false statement that since the Second World War the US had more often sided with non-Muslims when they had come into conflict with Muslims. In fact in 11 out of 12 major conflicts between Muslims and non-Muslims, Muslims and secular forces, or Arabs and non-Arabs, the US has sided with the former group. Those conflicts included Turkey and Greece, Bosnia and Yugoslavia, and and Kosovo and Yugoslavia.

Asked if it was true that “from 1973 to 1990 the United States sold Saddam Hussein more than a quarter of his weapons,” 80 per cent of British respondents said yes. However the US sold just 0.46 per cent of Saddam’s arsenal to him, compared to Russia’s 57 per cent, France’s 13 per cent and China’s 12 per cent.

David Cameron wants us to understand Americans better…

The Green Shirts Are Coming To Get You

FIRST the warmists came for the Australians, and I did not speak out…

ANDREW Bolt:

But when a few courageous dissenters do indeed speak out - or simply fail to match their global warming prayers with deeds, Media With(out a) Conscience calls on the authorities to persecute them:

The only sensible course for a World threatened by global warming is to RAPIDLY force climate criminal Australia to a world average per capita greenhouse pollution level by Sanctions, Boycotts, Green Tariffs, Reparation Demands and legal action over Australian Climate Genocide at the International Criminal Court.

That tramping sound I hear: it’s the Greenshirts, isn’t it?

Hair It Is: Scientists Return David Cameron’s Bike

david cameron bike Hair It Is: Scientists Return David Camerons Bike WHAT did David Cameron says when his bike was stolen?

The Times says he “had his bike pinched while he popped into his local Tesco supermarket in north Kensington to ‘buy some salad’”.

Anorak was certain Cameron said he had popped out for some “salmon”. On such things common touches are established and lost.

But there was one fact: Cameron’s bike has gone. He left his bike outside, and when he returned, there it was, gone.

But the bike is now returned. And it’s all thanks to the Sunday Mirror and its contacts on the street.

Rod Liddle Thanks David Cameron

ROD Liddle thanks David Cameron for pointing things out:

Good for David Cameron. There was a grotesquely fat woman in front of me in the checkout queue at Sainsbury’s this week, so fat I couldn’t see the car park; she looked like 26 Ethiopians, if you put them in a blender, added some bleach and gelatine and then allowed the result to set for 38 years in the fridge. Her trolley was full of prepackaged brown filth, tramp-semen-flavoured nacho chips, pasta shaped into an approximation of Shami Chakrabarti’s face, smothered in sugar and vinegar and tomato sauce and shoved in a tin, and carbonated sugary drinks that would make Jesus belch. Meanwhile, causing a ruckus by the entrance, was her vile lardy brood, a clutch of under ten E.S.N. thromboses waiting to happen, even the youngest of them with a pierced ear. How did they find a sleeper large enough to get through all that earlobe fat, I wondered — through all that reconstituted crispy chicken nugget and salt and sugar and saturated gunk?

Before David Cameron’s speech in Glasgow East I would simply have shrugged my shoulders, looking at this hag, and maybe sighed — ah, yes, this is Britain. But now he has told these awful people it’s all their own fault that they are hideous, poor and stupid…

Sterilisation by crisps…

Snot Rap: Kingsley Cardi Comes Clean On David Cameron’s Suit

sid snot Snot Rap: Kingsley Cardi Comes Clean On David Camerons SuitKINGSLEY Cardi is 15. David Cameron is in Hastings. So too is Cardi. Cameron is in touching distance.

The Mirror (“IT’S NOT BIG AND IT’S SNOT CLEVER”) sees Cardi wiping snot on the Tory leader’s back.

But did he do it?

The Mail says Cardi sneezed into his hand and wiped it deliberately in an up and down motion on Cameron’s suit jacket.

Cardi is issued with a caution for anti-social behaviour. The caution reads: “Anti-social behaviour towards David Cameron, namely sneezing in your hand and wiping snot down the back of his jacket.”

Says Cardi: “I sneezed in my hand and wiped it on him. It was just a joke.”

But was it a real sneeze?

At such times of uncertainty we turn to the BBC, which says: “A boy was cautioned by police after pretending to sneeze and then wiping his hand on David Cameron’s jacket as the Conservative leader visited Sussex”.

The sneeze was not real. Of course Cameron has been here before, chiefly when 17-year-old Ryan Florence fired a gun at him. On closer inspection, the firearm turned out to be imaginary, a thing made up only of Ryan’s fingers and a cocked thumb.

Mod Cons And Labour Saving Devices On MPs’ John Lewis List

YOU cannot help but notice that David Cameron’s kitchen is not too shabby.

On his Webcameron, the kitchen has all the mod cons - which might make a good name for Dave’s rebranded party. (Note to the Tory marketing team - call me.)

Very soon all MPs will be setting up a camera in their kitchens. News is that MPs are now allowed to claim expenses of up to £10,000 for a new kitchen.

And they can kit it out. There is an additional £2,000 allowance for furniture and £750 for a TV or stereo. The one proviso is that they should own a second home. Or, failing that, they should invent one.

It all part of the so-called “John Lewis list” used by Commons officials to list maximum amounts for items.

MPs can claim items up to £23,000 per year.

That list in full:

Labour Says BBC Is Soft On Cameron

jeremy paxman Labour Says BBC Is Soft On Cameron “LABOUR accuses BBC of going soft on Cameron,” says the Mail.

Labour has lodged an official complaint, claiming Radio 4’s Today programme has given David Cameron an easy ride in recent interviews.

In a letter to Sue Inglish, the BBC’s head of political programming, Labour’s vice- chairman Dawn Butler says presenter-Sarah Montague avoided any “unexpected questions”.

Says Miss Butler: “On the last five occasions Mr Cameron has appeared on the Today programme, dating back to November 1, his interviews have lasted less than eight minutes, they have been exclusively on a subject of his own choosing, and no questions have been asked by the interviewers on any other topical issues.”

The BBC denies any bias. And we wonder if this is less the fault of the BBC than of its star interlocutor Jeremy Paxman, whose hectoring, smirky-style of interviewing is what we expect our politicians to endure.

David Cameron Says Politicans Are The Trouble With Politics

david cameron David Cameron Says Politicans Are The Trouble With PoliticsSAYS Tory leader David Cameron:

To describe this disengagement and cynicism as a ‘mood’ is to underestimate both the depth and the intensity of the breakdown in relations between the government and the governed.

To do that, we need to understand why this political breakdown has happened. A lot of it is to with behaviour. The behaviour of a minority of individual politicians, in all parties. Behaviour in the House of Commons.

Ban the politicos and clean up politics…

Trips to Auschwitz And Other Political Gimmicks

auschwitz wideweb 430x298 Trips to Auschwitz And Other Political GimmicksTHE CCHQ has put out a press relaese listing Gordon Brown’s 26 gimmicks. Number four was headlined: “Trips to Auschwitz”

The release: “Two pupils from every sixth form and college in the country will be able to visit Auschwitz and learn about the Holocaust thanks to £4.65 million of funding’ (DCSF press release, 4 February 2008)

As the Sun reports: “Mr Cameron complained yesterday that despite a £4.7million boost for trips, schools still had to fork out £100 per pupil.”

Says a Tory spokesman: “School trips to Auschwitz are a brilliant idea. However, by announcing these trips without providing the necessary funding the government has - in classic fashion - hidden the detail in the small print.  Under a Conservative government these trips would be funded in full and schools would not have to find £100 per pupil from their budgets.”

Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, issued his won press release:

“This is a truly disgraceful remark by David Cameron and he should apologise immediately for the offence he has caused. Anyone who has seen the horrors of Auschwitz at first hand knows what a life-changing experience it is. To call the announcement I made of £4.65 million to fund visits by school children over the next three years a ‘gimmick’ just beggars belief. In trying to make this issue into a matter of party politics, David Cameron has shown once again that he not only lacks judgement but also a basic sense of decency.”

It’s not about party politics, says Ed Balls in a, er, Labour Party press release.

Arbeit Macht Frei. Even the Germans can do irony…

Reactions

Guido Fawkes: “The Tories now say that they support the educational Auschwitz trips and that they would fully fund them via the Lottery fund. Whatever the substance of the matter, somebody is going to get a bollocking for the original press release…”

RedBox: “Almost unbelievably, as at 2.40pm, the Tories are trying to defend its inclusion. They say the funding annoucement doesn’t add up and they weren’t trying to say the trips themselves were gimmicks, just the government spin. Doesn’t matter: they put “Visits to Auschwitz” under a list of “gimmicks” (itself a gimmick). They should have seen the politics of this

The ‘Gimmicks’

Earlier today CCHQ emailed out a list of “gimmicks” associated with Gordon Brown’s time as PM:

Trips to Auschwitz

Reversing 24-hour drinking policy
