And the Times’s Alice Fishburn (on Daniel Finklestein’s blog) says she’s found evidence of Sarah Palin (McCain’s stunning mate) praising Barack Obama.
Only, he hasn’t. Not really:

JOHN Edwards, has used the non-denial denial in regard to an affair with one Rielle Hunter’s and the child it - get this - allegedly produced. Says honest John:
“Two years ago I made a very serious mistake, a mistake that I am responsible for and no one else. In 2006, I told Elizabeth about the mistake, asked her for her forgiveness, asked God for his forgiveness. And we have kept this within our family since that time.”
Does God get a vote?
In 2006, I made a serious error in judgment and conducted myself in a way that was disloyal to my family and to my core beliefs.”He also said, “In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up — feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself.”
So there is no point in trying. But the child. The child is not mine:
He denied fathering a daughter, born to the woman with whom he had the affair, and offered to be tested to prove it. A former Edwards campaign staff member professes to be the father.
Who believes him?

John Edwards Baby News: Rielle Hunter’s Site Is Back Up
RIELLE Hunter was John Edwards’ webisode director. She got behind the scenes, showing the real Edwards as he really is.
Then a story broke that he’d fathered a child by her. All alleged. Nothing proven. But the reaction to the report has been the best part of the story.
She went to ground. The LA Times avoided talking about it. Big media bias? Her site - BeingIsFree - was purged from the web.
But some kind soul has somehow put the site back online.

John Edwards Defines Irony, With Rielle Hunter
FORMER US Democratic Presidential hopeful John Edwards has expensive hair. He also might have a child by illegitimate means.
But there is little news on John Edwards’ non-baby baby maybe. He did star in a webisode series, made by one Rielle Hunter. We would see it and like Edwards all the better. But the videos are hard to come by, removed from Edwards’ site. But you can enjoy them here:

Shhh! It’s The John Edwards Sex Scandal
SHH! It’s the John Edwards sex scandal. Bu don’t tell anyone…
Says Ken: If you only read Respectable Newspapers and avoid the morally corrupting influences of blogs, tabloids and Jay Leno, it might be news to you that Democratic boy wonder John Edwards is the alleged star of a creepy sex scandal.
The story has everything a cable-news producer or magazine editor or soap-opera writer could ask for: adultery, political power, a monstrous mansion, betrayal, cash transfers, terrible lies, vanishing evidence, a fall guy, a saintly wife dying of cancer, a late-night hotel rendezvous in Beverly Hills, even a “love child.” And it’s perfect for the middle of summer, when there’s very little real news because the newsmakers are all on vacation.
Anorak has covered it - here and in fullness here..

Kevin Rennie On Big Media Bias Towards John Edwards
THE John Edwards love child story you won’t read about:
The big media enterprises have so far ignored the John Edwards story told by the Enquirer. It’s become widely known beyond the Enquirer’s 1 million readers, however, through the online Drudge Report. Last week, Jack Shafer in Slate.com dissected the media bias that last summer led reporters to pounce on creepy Idaho Sen. Larry Craig’s arrest in an airport bathroom for importuning, while reporters are now ignoring the Edwards love child story a year later. Shafer concedes the analogy is not exact, but it’s close enough to reveal vastly different standards in treating these tawdry tales.
Bias…

How the LA Times Failed To Cover The John Edwards Affair
TABLOID Baby, Anorak’s man in LA, looks at the John Edwards love child “scandal”.
A story breaks in Los Angeles and the LA Times not only ignores the it, it bans its online writers from covering it.
Says TB: “Hey, we like John Edwards, too. He stands for the right things. But you know what, like Gary Hart, he tempted fate and got caught.”
Here’s the memo sent out by LA Times editor Tony Pierce:
