Tom Cruise Scientology Video

AS Gawker head Nick Denton notes, the video of Tom Cruise preaching about Scientology has been on the web for a while. It is the Sun’s “Cruise’s oddball cult rant”.

But it has been removed from YouTube.

You can watch it hereunder, for now:

Given that religionists make videos of heads being lopped off, is this so bad? Let’s ask the guys in the white vans…

Removed from Youtube because it’s extremely boring?

  2. Anorak Says:

The power of celebrity - If you post it, they will come

  3. Stan Says:

The video is hardly a “rant”, but is as Penster so rightly points out “extremely boring”. I didn’t watch it to the end - sorry Tom.

  4. Joe Says:

He certainly is taken by himself, probably practiced in front of a mirror for hours. Just one question: What exactly do you do to make this world a better place? From the video we see you have traveled and met various religious leaders, all well and good, but what have you done. You sound like the character Cramer in Seinfeld, when asked what does he do he replied “I’m doing what I do”.

  5. Fred bloggs Says:

what a load of old bollocks

  6. dairy Says:

he keeps droning on about “going for it” and “doing it”, but what exactly is “it”? poor sod, full of his own righteousness and arrogance…. love the bit where he says that he would love to go on holiday but he can’t……?????? bananas

  7. Karen Says:

I don’t see what’s so wrong with being delusional - it’s not as if he murders people.

I got a Fairy Magic book for Christmas and I will be in the woods searching for them because it’s fun to make-believe.

  8. Karen Says:

Of course the flaw in my argument is that he doesn’t think he’s make-believing.

  9. Greg Says:

Cruise is definately a nut job. This guy has lost his mind. Hubbard sure did a good job on him. Totally brainwashed and brain dead. He is not worth listening to. Nothing he says makes any sense. I will probably never be as rich or as powerful as this wanker…but I will always have my brain and rational thought to choose my destiny. Cruise has lost his.

  10. Dave Says:

It’s crazy how the press has jumped all over this! Do a search on Google News for “Scientology” and there are hundreds of articles about this one little video clip.

The headlines are all saying that it’s been leaked, that the church is engaged in a furious bid to get it taken offline. It’s nonsense!! The church isn’t doing a damn thing! Youtube always removes stuff it thinks might be copyrighted.

There’s not even anything sensational about this video; it’s just a guy who happens to be famous, talking about his religion. If it was some other Scientologist no-one would care. This isn’t news about some amazing leaked video which the church is trying to supress, it’s just another chance to mock Tom Cruise.

It’s about as interesting as Britney Spears drunken antics. If she wasn’t who she is, who the hell would care about a drunken mother who loses custody of her kids?! This isn’t news, it’s pathetic. Give us something worth reading!!

  11. John Blake Says:

Tom Criuse reveals himself as being a surprisingly inarticulate person and very intense when speaking about Scientology on this video. His conversation about his beliefs fails to explain in an intelligent and simple manner exactly how being a scientologist can bring about great changes in your life or improve the world.

Yes, its true that there is certainly a lot more to learn about Scientology but Cruise during this video seems to be doing a good job of convincing himself about the “wonders” of his religion but doesn’t remotely hit the target when trying to convince others.

Tom if your one of the world’s highest paid actors you won’t get an Academy Award for this performance.

  12. Tigress Says:

Bizarre! For all the babble Tom Crise has said, I am still none the wiser as to what ‘meassage’ he is trying to spread about Scientology. No doubt he donates vast amounts of cash and they make him feel real good about himself.

  14. bob dobbs Says:

“The church isn’t doing a damn thing!”

Wow, Dave seems to know what the Scientologists are doing but he does’nt seem to proud to be one.
The scieno’s are really invading all the blogs today and trying to talk this thing down, it’s
easy to pick them out by their talking points like “get a life, who cares, scientology is no different that any other religion”.

  15. We're the truth, not you Cruise Says:

Cruise is a complete whacko on this one, and not comprehensible - I had no idea what he was talking about or trying to say. Hey, Cruise, if you want to do “good” in this world, then give all your money away to folks. And that’s the gist of the draw to Scientology isn’t it - that one does “good” by getting folks to “know” (whatever the heck that means) without having to give a single dollar away to, say, the poor (as is heavily suggested in Christianity). No wonder Cruise loves this “religion.” And on that point, Scientology is NOT a religion, it is a CULT. They worship their leader like a god, as Hubbard has required and as every cult leader requires (Scientologists-nutjobs call him “the Source” — give me a break!). They harrass people that are “attacking” them. Their entire life belief system revolves around the beliefs created of their leader, which, as is typical of a cult, require Scientologists to worship Hubbard (unlike Christianity’s free will way to bring you to the love of God, which requires faith and personal decency towards others, not this spreading the “know” crap that Scientologists throw out there). Like a cult, it is completely selfish within itself and selfish in its actions towards others. Finally, Scientologists believe that getting to the state of the “know”, they achieve complete truth. Ya, that’s just like any cult’s “we’re right and you’re wrong” philosophy

  16. John Says:

    Tom Cruise rules!!!

  17. dy Says:

rubbish, couldnt hang in there untill the end very boring, didn`t help with understanding of scientology one bit.

  18. julie Says:

    Ahh bless, hes a nutter

  19. Ramey Kings Says:

I’m actually quite amused, No Scientology is not like any other religion. How so? find out for yourself.
I have found myself looking at several websites on this video that has been leaked, purely out of curiosity ( as I am a scientologist)

    There are several lies.

    1. the video is top secret and not meant to be seen by non-scientologists.
This is definitely not true. It was shown during an IAS (International Association of Scientologists) event. During events, we invite everyone to come and see what is going on in Scientology around the world. So it is true that the church isn’t doing anything, cause we didn’t care who saw it when it was first released.(We just wish you would understand the words he’s using before saying he’s crazy. He may be crazy, but how can you tell if you don’t understand what he’s saying.)

    2. That the video is used as a recruitment video.
How can the video be both top secret, and used as a recruitment video.See above. Again It is part of an event where scientologists find out what is going on around the planet in regards to scientology. It is also an awards ceremony.

    3. Tom Cruise is trying to spread a message about Scientology.
No, Tom Cruise is recieving an award for having had a direct influence in getting 400,000 children taken off of psychiatric drugs because he had the balls to go on network telivision and tell what he believes. Some people listened. He had also set up a purification center for the rescue workers of Ground Zero to help them get rid of the toxins that were caused by the debris of the 9/11 attacks. These are only a couple of things he did.But ultimately, he is accepting an award and is happy about it.

    That’s all I got.

  20. Judda Says:

“Get those spectators either in the playing field or out of the arena” sound worryingly like jihadist rhetoric to me. Whilst I don’t think Mr. Cruise will be bombing the London Underground anytime soon, shouldn’t we be a little concerned about a extremely high profile celebrity using that influence to promote a faith that either regards people as in and worth bothering with or out and not worth considering? I, for one, won’t be queing up for tickets for his next blockbuster.

  21. Justin Says:

Tom Cruise is unqualified to speak on any matters of medical consequence. The Church of Scientology ALSO is NOT qualified to speak on such issues. The issue is that they are hood winking their members by claiming that LRH “researched” and “proved” that his “tech” can heal. This has never been proven. They are bald faced liars and use TC to further their money grubbing agenda. The only research L Ron Hubbard did was to get as high on drugs as he could and transfer to paper whatever came into his head. The anti-drug church, founded by a drug addict. Delicious irony. No wonder everyone in Scientology lies, the entire church is built on them.

  22. kriptoow Says:

i would just like to know how he is changing reality? what a nutter!,

  23. lumar Says:

Thank you, Ramey Kings, for blowing all the lies out of the water. It IS very funny hearing all the silly things being said about him and about Scientology or L. Ron Hubbard.

Before others here make any further, unfounded judgments, read a book - Dianetics to start.

Here’s some valuable thoughts: respect the religion of others and make decisions made on your own observations, not opinion and rumor.

    We are scientologists.

  24. Shawn Says:

I didn’t personally watch the video, but I want to write S/G. My wife and I are relatively new to Scientology. Where I cannot intelligently speak for Mr. Cruise’s experiences in Scientology, I can say Scientology saved me and my marriage–two distinctly different and real ruins of my life. The best part is, Scientology never interfered or conflicted with our religion. Maybe it’s just me, but something which turns someone’s life around, where they’re healthier, happier, more intelligent (IQ increase of 26 points), quicker to response (aptitude increase of 45%), etc, deserves maybe a small jump on the couch. Sounds like something that could never happen, huh? Guess again. Before getting into Scientology, and even now, I’ve heard an exuberant amount of animosity from people with a proclivity to defame others and their religion. With anyone spreading information (particularly of a negative nature), one should perhaps look deeper at the specific source(s) of the negative information.

  25. penster Says:

Interesting points Ramey King. As a recruitment tool, has this video been successful? I could not understand what Tom Cruise was saying - it sounded a bit like the bloke had been on the drink, no clear theme or message. Do potential Scientologists have their interest piqued by the mundane or is the message overshadowed by the fact that it is delivered by a movie star?
Scientology does not seem to do any harm, unlike a lot of other, major religions but I still think I’d prefer to have an ambulance crew attend a car accident - sorry Tom!

  26. Jake Says:

Never has someone talked so much without saying a single thing.

  27. hippiechickie Says:

    Oh Tom
How to say more and more about less and less

  28. ernie vigil Says:

Tom Cruise sounds like he is on drugs and needs help himself. I didn’t understand what the heck he was talking about. It made no sense at all. Maybe is own scientology members should help him.

  29. JD Says:

STOP making stuff up and preaching falsities as fact. You are holding back the human race as a whole. Shame on you and your retard cult.

  30. legalbombshell Says:

Tom does sound nutty. But his beliefs are his beliefs. The wonderful thing about America is that he is NOT supposed to be persecuted for his beliefs. Just as christians, atheists, agnostics, jewish, catholics, buddists, muslims, condombles, and the other 5000 religions in this world are not supposed to be persectued. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I present toyou the first amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This amendment is what gives you the right to say all of the things you’ve said here today. We should not forget that this country was found on differences. Different races, religions, homelands; but, we all had the same idea! We WANTED/ARE ENTITLED to FREEDOM.

I find it rather bizarre that people here complain this is not news, yet leave comments and watched. What is also very strange is that not one person has mentioned an obvious fact. This video MUST be altered in some way. It appears broken, sound fades in and out, it is almost a planned attempt at making Mr. Cruise look crazy.

Please do not take this as my support of Scientology. I am a free thinker, I support no dogmatic approach. I just ask that as Americans, as Humans, we take a look at ourselves, ask would I want someone saying this about me? It’s a simple concept, Aretha Franklin said it best, R-E-S-PECT…. find out what it means to me (Or you, or others).

We don’t all have to agree. But, we should all respect one another. Perhaps if we did, wars wouldn’t be waged for oil, terrorists wouldn’t bomb countries because of different beliefs, and children wouldn’t die needlessly, and the hungry would get feed.

I pose this question: WHERE HAVE OUR PRIORITIES GONE? When the beliefs of one man engross an entire nation for a day. Just think what we could all accomplish if we worked together like this on something important.
