In Space You Can Hear Paul McCartney And The Beatles
“SEND my love to the aliens,” Paul McCartney tells NASA. “All the best, Paul.”
NASA is to broadcast The Beatles’ song Across the Universe across the galaxy to Polaris, the North Star.
Anyone confused as to the point of this should know that is celebrates the 40th anniversary of the song, the 45th anniversary of NASA’s Deep Space Network and the 50th anniversary of NASA.
The idea was Martin Lewis’s, a Los Angeles-based Beatles historian.
Were Lewis a fan of the Monkees, aliens could be bobbling their heads to Daydream Believer, or what about The Letter by Box Tops, or Incense and Peppermints from the timeless Strawberry Alarm Clock?
Far out, as Tony Blackburn would say, and is probably still saying it in a galaxy, far, far away.
The one surprise is not that the overrated Beatles and a tired tune should be inflicted on the aliens, but that Sir Paul has not yet been elevated to a senior figure in the space movement, if not the head of Nasa.
With Mr G9 (Bono) the leading authority on world economic issues, Elton John an expert on burial rites and Sting a consultant on almost everything else, Sir Paul’s experience of space should be used to the full.
Can he attached to rocket and fired into the darkness? If anyone is to meet the alien head bobblers head on, Anorak can think of no more suitable person than Sir Paul…

Paul,
LOL I am so old, that I don’t know if this will even get posted, because I don’t know what to fill in here! Now, all I can say is this….I was there! Yes, I was part of “The BEATLES” are coming to America!!!! Oh I was so in love with you Paul, at the tender age of 13 yrs old…lol…BUT, when John Lennon said to me, “Hello Bird”, well what can I say……..hahaha I dumped you for him in a heartbeat! I never did like pretty boys, and that you were…..simply beautiful to any young girl’s heart……..even mine, until I “heard John”!!! Talk about fickle…..
My friend’s dad somehow got 3 tickets and I was one of the lucky ones, and saw you, and the rest preform at the Civic Center in Baltimore, Maryland. It was the highlight of my life & I was the most popular girl in the 7th grade the next day! And to this day, I still take delight in telling about the time I saw the BEATLES and John actually talking to me!!!
Now Paul, LOL, maybe, just maybe if you say “hello Bird” to me now, I’ll allow you to hold my heartstrings (or hand?) once again………hahaha
The best to you always and LOVE< LOVE< LOVE.

Yea it is a Lennon song and not a McCartney song. As a religious Beatles lover (including all solo work) you guys are crazy to ssay they are what???? overrated????????? That is preposterous. I totally agree with the aboce comment that you have to be better and do all the things and more than The Beatles and Sir Paul to even consider speaking such words. All of your crappy music probably would not even be here without them….think about it!!

“overrated”????? I am not a Beatles drooler but anyone who thinks they didn’t impact music more than anyone in history is a moron, and by the way, Across the Universe was a Lennon song I believe.

I beg to differ.

2 Anorak
Now that’s difficult! If you’re talking about Mc - oh no another one! - then all of them. If your talking Beatles then I can talk about the ones I like..Eleanor Rigby, you know, and others, ones I hate, Yellow Submarine, and others!
There. enough detail from someone who never really gave a fig about them.

FFS, can’t stand the, hate his music, and I’m a Liverpudlian!
Can’t they blast the man himself out to space? Go on Paul, buy a Virgin ticket.
