TWEET. It’s singer Erykah Badu, lover to and rapper/producer Jay Electronica telling the world via twitter of their new daughter. Name: Emoticon. No, only joking. It’s Twitty Milk.

That may be an off-the-cuff joke. But when you’re dealing with celebrities who take themselves so seriously you cannot be certain. Just ask their other children: Seven and Puma.

This is an advancement on the Hello!/OK! magazine concept of relived drama of the miracle birth. This is live action celebrity birthing.

Jay: “My first child, my daughter, was born at 1:30 p.m. exactly. It’s the happiest day of my life”

Jay: “Getting closer. She says she feels like she’s ready to push”

Jay: “I see the head. Full of hair…”

…in it’s mouth.

Dads should congratulate Jay, of course, on finding something to do that involves him being part of the experience but too busy to get hands on.

Jay: My daughter is ready. Labor has begun. Everybody stand back. No hospitals. No doctors. No medicine. We’re waiting on midwife to show up”

Maybe twitter is a another final death knell for newspapers - with even  births annonced on new media. In time, you’ll know when someone’s died because they won’t have weeted or updated their MySpace page…
