“We have led the world today with a proposal to restructure our banking system. We are taking the steps that I believe other countries will take in the future.”

Thus Spake Zarathustra, sorry, Gordon Brown, announcing the Elderly Grandparent of All Bailouts

"This is not the American plan."

And yet another nail slides into the coffin of the US as the world's only financial super power...

Fucking Hell! And for Christ's sake! This man will be the death of us all.

Shall we ask Gordie Bruney to stuff Alastair Darling up his own arse and beg Ken Dodd to take over for the foreseeable future?

    Christ!

What a Prophet our Gordie has become! Since he never saw the current pile of sh*te coming - I am going to take a rain-check on the blatherings of this particular Scottish self-styled Guru.

This is indeed the fall of an Empire, but Gordie is gambling for very high stakes.

I am pretty sure that he thinks there is a chance of London becoming the centre of world finance as it once was, now that the US is crumbling. He's copying Warren Buffett's move on Goldman on our banks and noting that Warren is implacably opposed to paying more for the 'distressed assets' than they are worth, so Gordie won't either.

He's a somewhat implausible high roller, but that is what he is doing....
