Hi Anorak,
It has often been said that your school days are the BEST of your life.My own memories at schools in south London are wonderful and to read that STAB-PROOF school uniforms are now being sold by an Essex company is truly a reflection of how England and worries about crime has changed.
The stab-proof material is made of a material called Kelvar, and is the same that is used in the uniforms of the British military in Iraq. The interest by parents worried by violent knife attacks has been considerable and at 65 pounds the price seems good value to help give some protection to a child.
It is very sad indeed to read that innocent children need such protection and makes you wonder what school days will be like in 20 years from now.
POLES NO.1 FOR CRIME IN LONDON
The Polish people have been given a positive image since many arrived to work in England.Apparently,two-per-cent of the Polish population now reside in the UK.Reports said that Poles have been hard working people who had a very good attitude since arriving, and yet, today another set of figures puts them at No.1 in London. No.1 for CRIME in the capital in figures given by the British police.
The crime figures by the British police state that 20 per-cent of all crime in London was committed by foreigners.
It was intersting to see that high on the crime figures too were Romanians,Somalians,
Nigerians, and the Irish.
There are many people who will think that crime by foreigners allowed to enter the UK shows they haven't any respect for the law and don't give really give a damn for the general population either.
The Blair and Brown government promised to reduce crime in their elections speeches but it has gone through the roof with prisons full to capacity. The government in my opinion, is not only often out-of-touch with the realities on the street but are clueless in dealing with a problem that many think has been a direct result of their uncontrolled immigration policy.
So will a variety of crimes by foreigners(Violence, robbery, sex offences, drugs, burglary etc) help to produce a successful multi-cultural Britain where people trust and respect each other ? Well, if you think so, you must think that Harry Potter is for real too .
Regards,
JOHN BLAKE
