   Hi - we're looking into clearing out all the historic posts which have been marked as spam / or deleted - there seems to be a huge number of them - we suspect once this is done it'll speed up a bit (for a start) and it'll also allow us to try the migration/upgrade to the newer version of the forum.

   blimey - we've even got Scandinavian spammers now...!! When will the new site be ready, Anorak? I hope the Forum will be better protected, not so much from the spammers, but I personally welcome some respite from the likes of Mahatmatwat...

   Hi,

   I've made some changes which seem to be blocking about 95% of the spam .... (it's probably not a good idea for me to list exactly what here, but I should probably point out, if you include too many URLs in a single post, it will be refused).

   I'll look at clearing up the old spammy posts and the tags soon, once I've tested it internally.

   Hopefully. Since 10am this morning they've tried to submit ~700 spammy comments/posts (they were the ones I identified). I think about 2-3 got through ... so it's (currently) an improvement.

    Look at the tag count on this. Not one is from a genuine Anorak contributor.

    Why not block all tags? This is a forum not an auction house trading floor.

    I'd better not mention that I was tempted to add a 'rule' to block posts with 'ugg' in them
