Most of this was filmed in my home town, during the time I had no job, so I went for a nosey with my daughter.

We had a brilliant afternoon, had a huge piece of the massive biscuit he made and my daughter got to keep a little glass teapot, which Heston signed for her.

Everyone, including Heston, his helpers, minders and Channel 4 crew were so friendly and everyone there obviously enjoyed the whole thing.

We were interviewed by Channel 4, which probably won't make it onto the telly, but I'll let you know if it was shown. (If you don't already recognise me from my Facebook pic).

My daughter was shown twice and was extremely embarrassed when she started getting messages from her friends.

We had to check for paparazzi this morning before she set off for school

I hope all goes well or she'll be in a right mood when she gets home.

    What a big tossteapot.

He’s found his level then with this series.

He's lovely. He posed for photos and chatted to everyone, even though he kept getting dragged away to do some filming.

No airs and graces at all - just a genuine, down to earth bloke.

it's nice when the slebs actually turn out to be decent people - so many of them have their heads turned by fame and fortune and it is hard to explain to youngsters why the person they idolise behaves like a little spoilt shit.. Good on him!!
BTW hope your new job's going OK Karen...?

I didn't think we'd be able to get near him or his colleagues at all. That James Jocky Petrie bloke is nice as well and quite fit (I had to Google his name, even though I'd seem him on telly with Heston before).

The job's fine thanks, Dairy. It's nice to be still working from home and not having to do the rush hour crawls - I used to hate the clock change when it started to get dark before we finished work.

"decent people" - don't use that phrase to his (nearly ex) wife of 20 years and 3 kids!

I have read and heard others say he's a decent chappy and personally would go along with them.

My beef (pun intended)is with his latest series which is fairly silly and purile to say the least. I enjoyed his previous prgrammes/series and found them entertaining. This time I go along with one newspaper reviewer who says "” The show is messy and mildly repellent because it asks us to take food, both the cooking and the eating of it, seriously, yet it does so with a series of glib stunts. The man who set up the world’s best restaurant has somehow wound up in the 'spurious challenge' school of modern television, cooking for small laughs with no obvious purpose."

"Mr Blumenthal told the Radio Times that he chose Darwen as it was at the heart of the industrial revolution"

I agree the programme isn't his best - the only reason I took any interest is that I was there and had an enjoyable afternoon.

I wouldn't describe Darwen as being at the heart but it did play its part in the industrial revolution. I suppose he bigged it up a bit

"Like many towns in Lancashire, Darwen was a centre for textile manufacture during the Industrial Revolution."
