"A Portuguese judge has signed a warrant instructing British police to seize items of evidence from the home of Kate and Gerry McCann.

The police, who could visit the McCanns as early as today, are expected to take Mrs McCann's private diaries, her husband's laptop computer and Madeleine's 'cuddle cat' toy."

I am waiting for the McCann PR machine to request the help of the RSPCA to ensure the cuddly cat toy is well looked after by those swarthy foreign types.

Its sure to be front page news tomorrow.

Not that much mention of her either, eclipsed by her parents and the circus...

    Return of The Sweeney?

"I tell ya Regan, it was the cat wot done it." , said the Chief Super. "It's like I told the Portuguese; you can't trust the furry little bl**ders. One minute yer kiddie is cuddlin' 'em; next they've had it away on their toes with the nipper, and buried her in the next door neighbour's flower bed along wiv other stuff that they do in flower beds.".

"So, I wnat you an' George to get rahnd to the McCann's 'ouse an nick the cuddly little sod!". "oh, an' Regan", he added with a despairing look, knowing that what he was about to say was a wste of his breath, "don't wreck any more bl**din' Granadas, will ya'?"

Something must have happened to Grenada as Sweeney obviously didn't make it to Rothley.... saw photo of Cuddle still attached to 'Kate's' hip this morning.
It has been said she may have to have it surgically removed!

Sounds like a job for (cue dramatic music...) 'Police surgeon!!'

Hells' teeth! I'm really showing my age now; not to mention my memory of third-rate American TV series from donkey's years ago.

    Hello from Austria,

Efforts undertaken by German and Austrian newspapers to communicate what a "Cuddle Cat" is: "Stoffkatze, Plüschkatze, Schmusekatze, Knuddelkatze, Spielzeug-Katze, Plüschtier, Lieblingsspieltier, Stofftier, Kuscheltier, Knuddeltier."

    No consensus reached so far.

They are not guilty, not guilty, not guilty. Do any of you have children? have you ever lost a loved one, through death? etc. because if you had, then you would understand what it is to hang on to objects, its her way of coping, nomatter how silly it looks. it gets her through the day. even if she is dead, it would be better for her to be dead rather than be holed up somewhere with a gang of perverts.

    JCD,

"They are not guilty, not guilty, not guilty"

Oh well, if you insist, I'll take your word for it.

By the way, seeing as you obviously know something that they don't; hadn't you better let those nice Portuguese policemen know. They seem awfully pig-headed about pursuing a different line to yours.

But then again, what do they know....

Those of us who have actually brought up children junecampdav know that special cuddly toys which they keep with them and won't be parted from provide those children with comfort - not adults.

We know that if you need to pick up and so disturb a sleeping child you also need to ensure that its special toy is picked up as well to ensure that if the sleeping child wakes up it will have that safe and comforting toy with it and so provide it with security that all is well.

I expect anyone who has the idea to "abduct" a sleeping child from a room also containing its 2 siblings would know that as well. Its rather unlikely that he /she - who presumably has studied children and knows what he / she is about - would not be so stupid as to leave such a special toy which the child presumably had with her on a windowsill.

I also suspect that if a toy did contain the scent of a missing child the last thing most loving parents would do is wash it.

Tell us - do - how you know people who you've never met , don't know from adam , and are not being privy to evidence about (just press comment and speculation) are guilty or not?

With your special gift you should be able to make a fortune - maybe Mr Branson might see some commercial possibilities there.

'.... I also suspect that if a toy did contain the scent of a missing child the last thing most loving parents would do is wash it.'

    Spot on!

This is one of the many things the 'saintly' McCanns have done that I find highly puzzling! I know that if it were our child who was missing, we would have treasured that cuddly toy and would most certainly NOT have washed it, thereby removing the 'scent' of our missing child from same.

As a cynical auld bugger I can't help but question the McCanns motives in washing 'cuddle cat' before the police could run any tests on it?

Well Duncan I think this is just another aspect to add to that view expressed by a number of us at the start of all this - you included I think - "its all most odd".

I think the story was that it was washed because it had sun tan lotion on it. Well personally I wouldn't have washed it even if it had been dropped in a bucket of sun tan cream and left for a week. I know of a toy which was covered in a child's vomit which was only washed with the very greatest reluctance - and that child grew up safe and sound.

But then people do different things and have different ideas. But to you and me and maybe many others its bloody odd to say the least.

Given the nappy story doing the rounds, its even odder that Cuddle cat had a bath

So Madeleine's sandals and pyjamas 'placed' or 'strewn' into back of Scenic along with the twin's dirty nappies.

I think that says it all!

Hello from over here! Did you hear the latest news bulletin? The McCanns have agreed to take lie detector tests. Oh yes, Bob and Duncan, before you two believers in real truth and justice jump in I am fully aware that lie detectors aren't fool proof; yet...find that an interesting development in the on-going saga, don't you?

This whole saga has become quite fascinating - papers print a story in the headlines one day and next day a different version comes out...example...it was said Mrs. McCann ran screaming 'they've taken her they've taken her' but yet when all said and done and her real words came out, it turns out she ran screaming 'Madeline is gone Madeline is gone..' wow, how the truth gets so twisted - by accident or intent, one might ask?

Well, I'm sitting over here reserving judgment with my own thoughts on the outcome. As I said weeks ago, those inept Portugese police remind me of that saying 'throw enough crap against the wall some of it will stick'...small problem has come up in my eyes - that dung heap they are standing on and throwing the crap from against the wall is dwindling and the crap just 'ain't sticking.'
