How The Polar Bear Saved The World
POLAR Bear Watch: Anorak’s look at polar bears in the news
WHEN Anorak spotted the polar bear appearing with increasing regularity in the media, we wondered if it was the manifestation of a plot to undo pandas, once the mainstay of deprived bears?
But now the truth is out: The polar bear is “An Animal to Save the World”:
Lawyers at the Center for Biological Diversity spent years looking for “an animal to save the world.” Their criteria: A charismatic animal dependent upon arctic ice habitat threatened by global warming that could be listed under the Endangered Species Act.
The Kittlitz’s murrelet didn’t cut it, nor did an arctic spider or Carribean coral species. The polar bear, however, is another story. This year the polar bear joined the nearly 2,000 species listed as threatened or endangered under the ESA, and instantly became the new mascot for global warming policy.
The polar bears - not as cuddly as Al Gore but it will do…

You should never eat a polar bear’s liver. They accumulate vitamin D which can be fatal to humans if eaten in too great a quantity.
I do recommend the kidneys though, devilled with a creamy mash. Soul food

Yampster - Polar bears are cutie pies - I want to snuggle up to one - they are soft and cuddly….please do not eat them. They are on the list of endangered species today…George Bush said we need to be mindful of our polar bear. You will go to Guantanomo if you eat polar bears.

I do realise that.
When I ate mine it was not an endangered species so I am ok with the US. Luckily I have enough to last me a few years tucked away in my freezer
Phew!
