Polar Bears Go Green: And Japanese Pandas Revolt
POLAR Bear Watch: Anorak’s look at polar bears in the news…
TO the polar bears enclosure at Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in central Japan, where the normally white polar bears are making a statement.
The bears have turned green.
Says zoo official Masami Kurobe: “Visitors seem to be shocked by the colour, and we are asked every day why they are so green.”
Why do green?
“Well, says the first polar bear, the world is burning because of the seals’ greed and we are making a statement against global warming.
Polar bear two nods.
Says polar bear three, wiping his nose on his paw and running it through his fur: “Green? Dunno. Why are we so green?”
The talk among the scientific community is to algae.
Of course, polar bears are not as they appear, but are in actual truth pandas who moved on hoping for a shag and a feed away from the cameras.
It’s not green - it’s the black stripes coming through.

I wonder why Polar Bears in Japan have Chinese names?
Perhaps Pandas in North America are called Koji and Miyuki?
