MPs Yellow Ribbons And Creepy Behaviour For Madeleine McCann

THEY’RE showing off their support for Madeleine McCann in the House of Commons. Gordon Brown’s eyes “filled with tears” (Sun) as he held the hand of Madeline McCann’s aunt Philomena.

Says Mrs McCann: “His eyes filled up with tears, he was every emotional…he said he would do as much as he possibly could.”

So what’s he going to do? Find Madeleine? For now, Gordon’s plans are a little vague.

Maybe he’ll wear a yellow ribbon like other MPs in the chamber.

As Matthew Parris writes in the Times:

Yellow ribbons for Maddy in the Commons chamber. Yuk. What disgusting, mawkish, creepy behaviour by pathetic MPs hoping to tap in to the emotions of the mob, to live like the common people, feel what the common people feel. “Look, I’m blubbing too, just like you: vote for me.”

Forget kissing babies. This lot want to save them…

  1. Vicky Says:

Parris seriously needs to take a chill pill.

He’s been a right misery guts lately and quite frankly, I’m sick of hearing him.

    Wonder if he’s got kids?

  2. Vicky Says:

…….author removes her yellow ribbon in case she’s branded a suck up :s

  3. kirsty Says:

i think that madeleine’s parents should get a sentencce for child neglect of leaving their 3yr old, medeleine, and 18month old twins ina foreign b&b at night. they say that they went back every half hour/ or an hour- how long does it take for a meal for two???
never the less i hope young madeleine is found undamaged and healthy as soon as possible.

  4. Anorak Says:

Parris is childless. But what does that matter? Most child abuse takes place in the family home, conducted by parents. His point is how the grief of others becomes a mawkish public spectacle. Sod fortitude and resolve; let’s have tears and anxiety. Little wonder so many of us are on anti-depressants…

  5. karen james Says:

We used less anti-depressants when we had more fortitude and resolve…

  6. Maryam Says:

Kirsty couldn’t have said it better, I agree 100%

  7. Crystal Sutton Says:

I think the parents should be charged too. They checked every 1/2 hr? Aparently it takes only a minute or 2 to kidnapp a defensless little girl. SHE is paying for THEIR mistake, and it makes me sick. God I wish they’d just find her already!!

  8. Crystal Sutton Says:

So what does Gordon plan to actually DO to help?

  9. Anorak Says:

Crystal - I believe Gordon will apply pressure, do all that is in his power, listen to advice etc etc…

  10. Renee Says:

Why crucify the parents now? They know they made a mistake. The punishment they are undergoing as a result of their decision is more than any prison sentence could ever mete out. What we should look at is how we can find and deal appropriately with the type of evil person who would perpetuate a crime like this on an innocent little child.

  11. Mary Says:

Whether Gordon was percieved to be fake or genuine is irrelevent. There is no doubt that such a display of compassion at such a highly emotionally charged time is a good PR move. I am sure that Gordon is fully aware of this but equally, he is a human being. I am sure that somewhere, no matter how far deep down, he feels total compassion for the McCann family and gorgeous little Maddie so where’s the harm in showing that?

With regard to those accusing the parents of neglect - a sentence?? Don’t tell me that you have never made a mistake that, upon reflection, you realise could have ended in tragic circumstances. They were on holiday. They had their guard down. How many of you have got kids? I know that I would not ever leave my kids asleep alone but I certainly would not suggest that the McCann’s are massively irresponsible parents that have somehow brought this on themselves. They were on holiday. They had their guard down. Give them a break.

In response to Anorak, I wholeheartedly agree with Karen James - We used less anti-depressants when we had more fortitude and resolve… - Docotr’s should be prescribing long healthy walks in the country.

Although we don’t know that so there is plenty of hope! We must be postive and, rather than point the finger, think only of Maddie.

  12. Mairead Ashton Says:

It SHOULDNT even be quistioned why they left there children alone, people should put more effort in to finding the poor girl, insted of making this even worse for her perants, it is no one’s falt, and two weeks without there darling daughter is enough punishment.
I hope she gets home safe and well, all the best to maddie and her family :)

  13. Tommyt Says:

God I hope and pray so much that little Maddie is safe- the world needs a happy outcome to this- I think she has personified innocence and beauty.

ps to rougly qoute a line from Pulp fiction, I Would happily volunteer to take a plyers and blow-torch to her captives and get medieval on thier asses

  14. jackie Says:

I pray everyday of the safe return of this precious little girl, I am a mother and it breaks my heart to think of what her parents must be going through, Alough i to agree that they should never ever have left there children alone, If they wanted a romatic holiday to dine on there own they should have left there kids at home with a family member etc, But never the less i hope little madeline is returned safe to her parents, Come on sweetheart we’re all thinking of you xxxx

  15. megan Says:

i realy think maddys parents didnt deserve this, everyone misses maddy

  16. cara Says:

I think what the McCann’s are going through enough torture without being punished, but at the same time what possessed them to leave their children? and then to only check on them every half hour! What if they woke up from a bad dream or had been sick in their sleep. Imagine a poor child crying in a strange room for up to half an hour wondering where their parents were. Would that not be enough to put any parent off leaving their childen alone?
I hope she is found safe soon.

  17. Rebecca Says:

How ‘holy’ are some of the people writing on here. They need to have a think about what they write before they do it! For all of you out there who have the audacity to blame the parents of poor Madeleine you clearly are not parents! Every parent (yes even your own) has made mistakes that could have resulted in similar situations. Ask them and if they are honest they will admit that there have been plenty of times when they left you in your pram outside because “the fresh air was good for you” or left you in the car whilst you were asleep and “nipped” into the shop afterall they were “only 2 minutes”. I think you should all focus on the monster that has taken her before preaching your ‘parenting rights’. Everybody makes mistakes and heaven forbid anything does happen to Madeleine her parents will everyday for the rest of their lives ask “If only…” I would not wish this upon anybody and anyone out there who is a parent will suerly understand my plight. And to add to the un-educated comment that it was a b&b that they were staying in is just ill-informed. Mark Warner is a 5* FAMILY holiday resort. Of course bad things can happen to anybody regardless of class or money but lets face it, the Mccanns chose this resort as there would be many families exactly the same as theirs and you would expect to be safe in your surroundings. If it was in fact a “B&B” on some alley in Portugal and they had gone for dinner in the next town then yes maybe they would have to accept people brandishing them bad parents but DON’T PREACH WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW!!!

  18. Donna Says:

The McCanns could have used the listening service provided by Mark Warner…………………. Would that have been better? Then someone else would have checked the children periodically and reported back to them should there have been a problem. Personally I see no difference.

  19. Helen Says:

I agree with rebecca stop blaming the parents they clearly thought it was safe to leave there children in the room, if it even crossed there minds that it wasnt do you really think they would of left them!! Even if it was the wrong thing to do, the most importent thing is getting her back, not sitting around trying to blame someone!
I dont think they should get charged for leaving their children, do you really think they will do it again??

  20. Emer Says:

I would just like to say that our thoughts and prayers are with Maddie’s parents. I don’t think its fair to blame the parents, just concentrate on finding Maddie safe and well.. The person who kidnapped Maddie please return her to the people who love her… How could you do this to such a small innocent 4 year old… Just please leave her in a safe place, and notify the police

  21. sarah Says:

I agree with Rebecca to some extent! the parents should have used the services Mark Warner offers. and i know they will be totally regretting not doing so!! But i dont agree about the parental mistakes, i never let my daughter out of my site! (exactly the same age as the twins) especially in a foreign country in a place she does not know. not even for 2 minutes never mind 30mins!!
do you think if it were a family on low income living on a council estate would have the same effect? i doubt it!! people would be going crazy at the parents!! i really do feel for madelines parents, and i truly hope this beatiful little girl is returned home soon!! more needs to be done in portugal to find her!! x x x x x

  22. Crystal Sutton Says:

Rebecca- no I have NEVER left my baby outside unsupervised for fresh air, or ‘nipped’ into a store while the kids were asleep. and I NEVER WOULD. That you think its normal sjows YOU would do it, but dont think b/c you are neglectful that anybody else is.
And while I am furious at the parents, they are paying.and most dearly. There is nothing else that could be done to them to make them feel more guilty (and they ARE guilty. its called neglect)
Any new news about the marina? why didnt whomever saw a little girl matching her description ‘being dragged to the marina’ call earlier? murat seems sooooo guilty, between renting a car when he had one and working w/the marina to charted boats that go to s. africa and the med…if he’s guilty i hope he fries!!!

Paedophillia is an evil - so how is it best combatted?

  24. Anti_idiot Says:

Donna - CHECK YOUR FACTS. I’m sick of hearing people say “Well the listening service wouldn’t have been better”

    1) The Mark Warner site in Praia da Luz does not offer the listening service.

    2) They have a FREE creche for parents eating in the restaurant the McCanns were in. The creche is staffed by trained childminders holding full ECRB disclosures. Again, this is a FREE service.

    3) They also have an in-room babysitting service, where a trained childminder, again with full ECRB disclosure, sits in with the children. This is for a small fee.

I’m sure a GP and consultant can cobble together a few quid for a sitter. After all, the kids clubs the children were in cost roughly £250 a week.

  25. cara Says:

Rebecca- clearly you can’t be a very safety conscious parent or maybe you aren’t a parent at all. yes all parents make misatakes. most parents do leave their children for maybe a couple of mins at a time, i’ve done it myself and when leaving them i was constantly worring and thinking about them. But never in a million years would i leave my children to go for a meal. That’s just careless.
Still my prayers go out to the parents. I hope no one else ever has to go through what they are going through

  26. boganhound Says:

i once had my mudguards stolen while i was cycling through a rough part of liverpool back in the 70’s; i even heard someone had his shiny alloys whipped off while tuning his radio atthe traffic lights, his car was up on bricks before he could find radio city.

sometimes no matter what you do, if some degererate wants something of yours bad enough, they’ll take it wether you are 50 yards away sucking on a g&t or sitting on top of it.

my own mother used to knock me out with a mogadon horse tablet so i slept like a log. those were the days.

no blame goes to madeleins poor parents, theyve done nout wrong.

  27. Anorak Says:

Boganhound - i have reported your details to the authorities and your mother will be brought before the tabloid press before the day is out

  28. Crystal Sutton Says:

boganhound- they did everything wrong- they left their kids ALONE to go eat. Would some degenerate have come in and taken her from her bed IF THE PARENTS WERE THERE PROTECTING THEM? COULD THEY HAVE TRIED TO PROTECT HER, SAVE HER HAD THEY BEEN THERE? but they wernt- they wernt there to protect, to save, to keep an eye on them, they were out enjoyong themselves. so yes, they did wrong and SHE is the one paying for it

  29. boganhound Says:

Anorack - thanks… nice one, i should have dobbed her in it years ago… and i didnt even mention the gin in my milupa cereal ;-)

Crystal Dudette… no no no… they are not to blame. they checked on their kids every 30 minutes that’s way more than enough and they were 50 yards away. some (lucky) peoples kitchens are further than that from their kids bedrooms.

you have to understand that madelein was hand picked by these perverts from photographs, probably chosen over the phone and probably paid a hansome wedge for by a wealthy foreigner with no lead in his pencil.

now these kind of degenerates will stop at nothing… madelein’s parents had no chance at all. they would have grabbed her from a shop while the mums back was turned for an instant, or they’d ring the phone and ask her to quickly come to reception, pose as room service… any number of tricks. you can not keep both eyes on all your kids at all times, not me anyway.

and it accomplishes nothing in casting any blame on them. the people you should be using the uppercase letters against are those perverts.

let him with eyes in the back of his head cast the first stone.

  30. boganhound Says:

my wife just got back from the coop here in zurich, there was a 4 year old naughty boy sitting on the floor in the kids toys area ripping toys out of their packaging (no mum in sight) - he actually asked my wife to help him rip a toy remote truck out of its plastic - my wife said “no sorry cant help you there mate… where’s your mum” the toddler replied in a dismissive huff “oh… she’s shopping somewhere” and waved an arm yonder.

hehe… its more casual here in mainland europe we kind of pool our kids a bit, let em drag themselves up, eat dirt and drink beer…
