What was the purpose of bringing in cadaver dogs if the results are discounted? How much longer will it take to get forensic results from Birmingham? Do we just wait until the answers amount to what the McCanns would like to hear?

The display on this site of the arrogance of 'knowing' or even thinking, that Kate McCann was in any way responsible for her daughter's disappearance, is way beyond the limits of unkindness that human beings could possibly be capable of.
It reminds one of the accusations levelled against the late Jane Tomlinson who was accused of money-making and attention seeking as she fought to raise over a £million for cancer charities before she died of cancer herself. Where are those accusers hiding now?
I suspect in the same armchairs as the ones from which accusations against Kate McCann are now being spouted forth.
I wonder if they also think she is responsible for the regular abduction of children from a famous Portuguese orphanage by high government officials and others in public office, in the pockets of those, I have no doubt, that are involved in distracting public attention from the perpetrators of this heinous crime, to the detriment of the child's poor mother.
Don't give up Kate, heroines never get recognition while they are fighting the battle. If you cry they'll accuse you, and they'll accuse you if you don't. But one day, these Portuguese officials will come out of this with egg on their faces, and many, many other children may be saved from abuse and abduction once the truth comes out into the open, as surely it must. You don't know yet what part you may play in the protection of innocent children in the future, whether or not your dear little Maddie is found.
To think that we claim to live in a civilised society that doesn't do things like stoning women to death - yet what is being done to Kate McCann with vile, facile words is of exactly the same ilk. Shame on you all, who accuse her.

Yes, I totally agree with Julie. Grieving parents are not normally trying to convince the world of their innocence. Everything seems out of proportion now and although I would never have suspected the McCanns of anything other than child neglect, there are too many contradictions, that is assuming that everything we read in the papers is accurate. Little girls do not appear into thin air, and someone, one of the formal suspects, I feel, knows what happened that night. Gerry McCann is not someone I like and trust for that matter and he comes across as somehow involved. I wish I was a psychic as I have a gut feeling in this case. I used to feel strongly that Murat and his mother were involved. I believe that DNA of hair samples was found in his house.

Maggie made a good point that the McCanns are really grieving even though they have forced themselves to make the grieving fake. In order to make their lies seem sincere, they attempt to align those lies with some of the real feeling. This is very clear in their interviews. In the very first interview, Kate said she noticed Madeleine was missing on her check... she stops and corrects herself... "on one of my checks". Actually their own eventual story was that she only checked once. But she got confused, thinking of their story (at that time) that they checked frequently. She had the cold calculation to realize that she had not bolstered that story, and so corrected herself.

So they have the burden of constantly thinking of stuff like this, while knowing that their daughter is dead. Another example is Gerry saying in the interview that they are responsible parents, but yes they do feel bad about not being there "at that moment". But an abduction does not take place in a moment! Gerry is apparently referring to the death, that occurred suddenly in an accident. He is using an element of the truth to help make his act look sincere.

Analyze all you want, but the conclusion is simple. The McCanns are liars and frauds; they belong in jail for child neglect and defrauding the public. AFTER they are safely in jail, it should be investigated how the girl died. The priorities in this case are upside down.

Re Kates crying every day . Many people dont realise that a parent can grieve for dead and missing child even if they are directly responsible for what happened to it. Women who have had social abortions can morn for that lost child just as much as women who miscarry. And lets say she didnt do anything to her daughter knows who did i? What a conflict- give up that person and maybe lose everything she's worked for, and for what ? the child is beyond help. And the other explanation is - if they didnt do anything to Maddie- that it's finally dawned on her that this mess is directly due to their actions and its simple overwhelming guilt. Whatever reason its about time any of the McCann clan displayed some emotion about their child being one.
Oh and have you noticed how many of the pro- McCanns do or know hundreds of people who routinely leave their kids alone? Sounds like they feel guilty to me. orare trying to justify their own actions

this little snippit should ensure that every one retains their faith in the fss,and that there is not the slightest chance that Madeleine's dna alleged or otherwise could have been spoiled in any way by such a well run organisation, with such upstanding employees and fandabbydozy security.................

The FSS - which is suing the five men in the High Court - helps police investigate evidence from crimes and sells its services to commercial customers.

It also maintains the controversial database containing DNA samples of almost four million people, the largest in the world.

The men, all from the Birmingham area, are named on the writ as Azim Akhtar, his brother Zaheer Akhtar, Sultan Mahmood, Nisar Ahmed, and Athar Agha.

It is alleged they set up a company and planned to compete against the FSS by providing similar services.

The case will inevitably raise concerns about the vulnerability of genetic data, especially since the FSS was turned into a Government-owned company in 2005 as the first stage of privatisation.

At the time Tony Blair faced a barrage of protest, with one Labour MP denouncing the scheme as 'a criminal's charter'.

Civil rights groups have also been critical, arguing there are no real safeguards to prevent misuse of the DNA database.

Shami Chakrabarti, director of Liberty, said the case involving the five men raised serious concerns.

"This is hugely significant and should make every law-abiding person seriously worried. People are looking after these databases who have less and less of a public-service ethic,' she said.

According to the High Court writ, the FSS began developing a website in 2005 called Iforensic.com targeting international law enforcement and private markets.

It says although the plans were secret, they were known to the five defendants who had access to the DNA database. The writ alleges the men set up their own company, Iforensic Ltd - having appropriated the name from the FSS.

"In order to facilitate the creation of a DNA database to be operated by Iforensic Limited...the defendants copied, retained and/or adapted software and/or other confidential information' belonging to the FSS, says the writ.

The document adds it would not have been possible for the five men to create the software necessary to produce a DNA database without having had access to 'and copying and/or retaining copies of the software and/or the database.'

IT specialist Azim Akhtar, 30, is alleged to have registered three internet domain names using the word Iforensic - and later, through a friend, tried to sell one of the names back to the FSS for 'an attractive price'.

He and the four others worked in the FSS's Birmingham headquarters in the information systems division, which is responsible for developing and maintaining the DNA database.

The FSS is seeking damages for infringement of copyright, breach of trust, breach of confidence and misuse of confidential information.

It is also seeking injunctions to make the five change their company's name, return confidential information and transfer internet domain names to the service.

According to the writ, the five set up Iforensic Ltd on September 29, 2006, to unlawfully exploit 'goodwill in the name' by extracting money from the FSS for the sale of the company name at an inflated price.

They chose the name with a dishonest motive, to use it as an 'instrument of fraud', it is alleged.

It adds they set up Iforensic Ltd to compete with the FSS to provide forensic goods services and products, including national DNA database services.

Mr Akhtar, from Yardley, Birmingham, said: "We have never been accused of taking personal information about individuals from the DNA database.

"What we are accused of is taking the database itself, not the information."

He added it was never the intention to set up a firm to rival the FSS or the DNA database.

Mr Akhtar went on: "The FSS said if we have registered the domain names using the iforensic word then we must be going to do the same business as them and thus must have taken the database system."

He added the FSS was making IT redundancies and 'we plan to set up a company to offer the services the FSS will be looking to outsource."

The FSS said it could not comment because of the investigation. The Home Office insisted there was no question information held on the database had been 'compromised'.

At the time Tony Blair faced a barrage of protest, with one Labour MP denouncing the scheme as ‘a criminal’s charter’.

Civil rights groups have also been critical, arguing there are no real safeguards to prevent misuse of the DNA database.

Shami Chakrabarti, director of Liberty, said the case involving the five men raised serious concerns.

“This is hugely significant and should make every law-abiding person seriously worried. People are looking after these databases who have less and less of a public-service ethic,’ she said.

“In order to facilitate the creation of a DNA database to be operated by Iforensic Limited…the defendants copied, retained and/or adapted software and/or other confidential information’ belonging to the FSS, says the writ.

The document adds it would not have been possible for the five men to create the software necessary to produce a DNA database without having had access to ‘and copying and/or retaining copies of the software and/or the database.’

IT specialist Azim Akhtar, 30, is alleged to have registered three internet domain names using the word Iforensic - and later, through a friend, tried to sell one of the names back to the FSS for ‘an attractive price’.

He and the four others worked in the FSS’s Birmingham headquarters in the information systems division, which is responsible for developing and maintaining the DNA database.

The FSS is seeking damages for infringement of copyright, breach of trust, breach of confidence and misuse of confidential information.

It is also seeking injunctions to make the five change their company’s name, return confidential information and transfer internet domain names to the service.

According to the writ, the five set up Iforensic Ltd on September 29, 2006, to unlawfully exploit ‘goodwill in the name’ by extracting money from the FSS for the sale of the company name at an inflated price.

They chose the name with a dishonest motive, to use it as an ‘instrument of fraud’, it is alleged.

It adds they set up Iforensic Ltd to compete with the FSS to provide forensic goods services and products, including national DNA database services.

Mr Akhtar, from Yardley, Birmingham, said: “We have never been accused of taking personal information about individuals from the DNA database.

“What we are accused of is taking the database itself, not the information.”

He added it was never the intention to set up a firm to rival the FSS or the DNA database.

Mr Akhtar went on: “The FSS said if we have registered the domain names using the iforensic word then we must be going to do the same business as them and thus must have taken the database system.”

He added the FSS was making IT redundancies and ‘we plan to set up a company to offer the services the FSS will be looking to outsource.”

The FSS said it could not comment because of the investigation. The Home Office insisted there was no question information held on the database had been ‘compromised’.

Accepted, accidents do happen. Children fall over, swallow things they shouldnt etc.etc.

Kate has said in her diaries that she could not cope and that gerry was not helping. If this is the case, then Maddie may have died following a tragic accident whilst arguing with her mum. No-ones fault, no-one at all.

But what happened to the body? Was maddie given a proper burial?

And to top it all, no amount of stress would you give the greiving parents an incentive to set up a large fighting fund to look for someone who cannot be found.

So what is going on? If there was an abduction, why all the lies? why the smell of death, the mystery trip and the DNA?

Why the need to visit the worlds top people, have they got maddie?

The mind boggles.

to James (237)
I was providing the Linda Chamberlin case in Australia as an example how the parents were innocent all the time, even whe the media cause the case to be rushed and fabricated stories and evidence for quick answers.
I did not state a dingo was in Portugal and snatched Madeleine, you Wally!

to Portia (236)
Yes, I have 3 children. One Maddie's age, one two and an one year old. What are you trying to say is easier than you realise? What to kill your kids!
Acidentially or intentionally? Parents killing kids is easier than I think? If it was that easy through screaming kids, or carelessness/ or neglect on the parents behalf would'nt there be an epedemic of deaths of children from psychotic or bad parents?
I have been there and still there with screaming kids with teething, ear-aches, tummy pains, etc . But I have never thought of solving the problem by killing my kids. If the parent is in that state of stressed mind they are better off leaving the baby screaming in the cot then trying to fix the screaming. Get help from family or help lines! Hurting a baby because it is crying too much means the mum must have some disturbed problems such as postnatal depression, stress- which is a illness that needs to be fixed before it exculates. I know it can be easy for some parents, a minority group, a group that needs help.
Accidental death can be caused by a number of problems, like lack of supervision, lack of parenting education and not child proofing the house properly.
Then there are child deaths which are unexplained, illness and could not be prevented which luckily are not as easier to occur as you think.

812 Maria

I know you are not as naive as you would like to present yourself.

Why would I doubt a man who makes a living in presenting a positive image to the press? Why would I doubt a man who goes to the press to with an interview to polish up the McCann image on the same day that stories reveal 'Kate cries every day.'

I didn't say that by disbelieving Mr. Woolfall says is true that it necessarily means the McCanns are guilty.

What we have here is a whirlwind of PR spin that is trying to convince the readers/viewers of what they should think of the McCanns because their team are worried about our perceptions. It is insulting if they think that the public is that gullible to fall for such obvious attempts at damage control.

You're entitled to your opinion, of course. Mr. Woolfall may be telling the truth--I admit that much, but he doesn't have any built-in credibility with me--I don't know him or his ethics.
