Madeleine McCann: Danie Krugel Is The Locator, Gerry McCanns The Roof And Paedo Alert
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
NEWS OF THE WORLD front page: “Maddie was alive on beach”
“A renowned international manhunt expert, dubbed The Locator, sensationally revealed he has uncovered a telltale DNA trail left by snatched toddler Maddie McCann”
THE LOCATOR – in the papers and all over Praia da Luz from Sunday (see press for details). Anyone else see a made-for-TV series or a fly-on-the-wall documentary?
Ex-cop Danie Krugel has tracked the “forensic route” he believed her kidnapper took from her Madeleine’s Portuguese holiday apartment. It ends on the beach
Says Krugel: I spent four nights in July carrying out my searches. I’ve been able to trace where Madeleine was in the resort and have drawn a map which has been given to the police.
“I can’t reveal details as I don’t want to alert anyone who might try to disturb the scene. But I believe I’ve traced where she was taken that night and now it’s down to police to use their search experts to do the rest. The area to which my investigation led me is a difficult one to search”
Disturb the scene? The beach at a popular tourist destination made famous by the disappearance of a little girl? Yes, best not disturb that. And tell the wind and the tide to stop, too
A source “close” to the McCanns says: “The work of Mr Krugel should not be underestimated and gives great hope to Gerry and Kate. Many people have contacted the couple to try to help but while their hearts may be in the right place they just don’t have the expertise to be of assistance. But Mr Krugel has a proven record of finding people and his methods are extremely credible”
Like this credible helper. And this one. And this one. And this one…
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE SENSATION – BOYFINDER CALLED IN”
• McCanns hire leading DNA expert
• He pinpoints area on local beach
• New cops urged to start digging
And fishing…
“Desperate Kate and Gerry McCann” sent a strand of Madeleine’s hair to South African police colonel Danie Krugel. The Locator has located the spot where Madeleine’s body is buried
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “WOMAN WHO COST MADDIE FUND £51K”
“Anguished Gerry McCann sensationally split from the expert masterminding the worldwide hunt for his missing daughter Madeleine after she put in a whopping £20,000 overtime and expenses bill”
PR Justine McGuinness charged Gerry and wife Kate £51,000 for 89 days’ work. “Her basic fee was £350 a day, making a total of £31,000. And the rest was made up in overtime payments and expenses - including bar and restaurant bills”
A source says Gerry saw the bill and “hit the roof”. He was “livid”
So she went. And was replaced by Clarence Mitchell
“Gerry was the only one who wanted Clarence,” readers learn. “He was determined to get him after building a strong relationship with him in Portugal. But nobody else wanted him because he had given Kate and Gerry - what some of the family thought of as - questionable advice”
Can the McCanns’ PRs get a PR before their names and sullied?
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “New police chief turns screw on McCanns”
MAIL ON SUNDAY: “MPs demand record of child-tracking devices over paedophile fears”
Oh?
“New laws to regulate the use of high-tech child-tracking devices are being called for by MPs amid fears they could be used by paedophiles and stalkers. The technology is aimed at parents wanting to keep tabs on their children after a series of high-profile child murders and the disappearance of Madeleine McCann”
Maybe all adults should be chipped instead? Or children paedo-proofed - why let it ruin your holiday?
THE TIMES: “Detective who suspected Kate and Gerry McCann may lead hunt”
Luis Neves, 41, is seen as a forerunner to replace Goncarlo Amaral as lead detective. He was seen by the McCanns as a “breath of fresh air” when he joined the inquiry team.
“But he later became convinced she had died in an accident in the McCanns’ apartment”
Or will it be Carlos do Carmo? He has no previous connection with the case, and was Amaral’s predecessor as director of the police in Portimao. The Times says he earned the respect of colleagues after bringing the killer of a police officer to justice
Who will it be: Carmo or Neves? Press your keypads now!
Or C: The British Supercop?
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: “Police have open minds, insists Kate McCann”
“Kate and Gerry McCann are ‘furious’ at Portuguese police claims that British detectives believe their missing daughter Madeleine is dead”
Says Kate McCann to friends: “The police have told us they have an open mind. Of course we accept it’s possible Madeleine may no longer be alive but we don’t know and nor do the police, so we have to do everything we can to find her”
Clarence Mitchell refuses to comment on “the latest unfounded, unsubstantiated rumours”
A source says: “”Quite how any child would die falling off a sofa is beyond me”
She fell off the sofa? Really…
THE OBSERVER: “Forensic DNA tests ‘reveal traces of Madeleine’s body on resort beach’”
“Retired” South African police superintendent Daniel Krugel is on the beach
Are you?

From today’s ‘Sunday Times’:
QUOTE
A senior detective who called in the parents of Madeleine McCann for questioning and played a key role in the decision to make them suspects is one of the favourites to take charge of the investigation.
Luis Neves, 41, was seen by the McCanns as a “breath of fresh air” when he joined the inquiry team three weeks after Madeleine’s disappearance. But he later became convinced she had died in an accident in the McCanns’ apartment.
UNQUOTE
So the McCann-sceptics on this Forum, who assert that Madeleine died in her apartment on 3rd May, are in good company, then.
He sounds like the man for the vacant job of leading this suspicious death enquiry

7 yes tony, agreed
So Comical C has said he refuses to comment on this one. As I have mentioned before our comedian has a problem. OK so he rubbished the last PJ chief with boozy lunchtimes smear campaign. Is he going to rubbish the new chappie as well and anyone else who happens to hold a Prtuguese passport?
Ok he’s not confirmed in post yet (as far as I can see).
I expected big PJ bashing stories today but Comical is keeping his powder dry. If the new chap continues with it’s the parents wot dun it, then Comical Clarrie is truly stuffed… or should that be stiffed?

‘PR Justine McGuinness charged Gerry and wife Kate £51,000 for 89 days’ work.’
FMS. I have a couple of weeks free at the end of the month! The saying goes ‘the best things in life are free….’ seems like some of the shitiest things (spin doctors) cost a fortune.
The truth and openess cost nowt! Speak from the heart and sack all the lowlife’s profiteering from this tragedy would be my advice and it wouldn’t cost a penny.

Sorry this was posted on the earlier thread and yet only Stig has ansswered it.
Thanks for your answer Stig.
Dora, Keith, Moderation, Judge Dread please answer me - if you have a million quid would you leave in on your bed in an unlocked room.
Stig replied that obviously one would not as theft is not uncommon.
But theft is not committed by pigeons it is committed by people.
So if it is not uncommon for people to enter rooms for the purpose of robbery then it is not safe to leave children unattended.
A robber could have come in to steal and found the child.
There was a case years ago where several south african girls went missing.
There was a link up between a pedophile Gert van Rooyen and magnus malan (who then in the Apartheid era) was minister of defence. Deliberately did not capitilise letters in his name.
Anyway Gert and his lady (who helped in the abductions) shot themselves, although evidence that was kept hushed seemed to indicate that they were shot by members of defense force in order to keep magnus the slime balls name clear.
A few weeks ago there was some claim that their bodies had been recovered in a house on the coast after a freak storm seriously eroded the sandbank.
I never read local news - it is far too depressing so I can’t say if Danie was involved in the finding or not.
Perhaps Julie can respond to this.
Just saw a photograph of Gordon Brown, my God he does not look healthy. Definitely a dickie liver there.
Is it really up to him to decide if there is an election or not - is not up to the PEOPLE to decide if they want to vote or not.

sheer curiosity: is krugel’s coiffe and mustache the current uk style?

The headline that says what this game is all about, the fund-raising, the blogging, the whistle-stop world-wide jaunts, the spin. Abandoning your kids lands you in jail, never mind what else happened to Madeleine:

Weekends are often my busiest time.

A few weeks ago I tried without any luck to find evidence of Danie Krugel’s success - it seems he found some bones which couldn’t be identified as the missing girls. Anyone else come up with any links?

“if you have a million quid would you leave in on your bed in an unlocked room”
Interesting question… If the answer is no but you’re quite happy to leave three kids there then there’s one simple conclusion. Three kids are valued at less than a million quid.

(Where are the post numbers?) - Roger Says:

Peter O
I think we are justified. they have shown little sign of repentance or remorse over this matter; but simply they have made e xcuses. If it was you or me I am sure we would be blaming ourselves to everybody.
Edit….. And there is a public interest element in deterring others from doing it.
I think the practice is in fact not illegal and is unregulated. And these are reasons for going on so much about it.
++++++++++++++++
REPLY - Roger, I’m probably closer to you and many others in terms of my feelings about this aspect of the case. I was just trying to make the point to The Real Stig that even if you placed the most generous interpretation possible on events of May 3rd the response/attitude of the McCann’s since is largely what wrankles with many.
Had they themselves dropped out of the limelight, by all means keep Madeleine in the limelight, then I doubt it this aspect of the case would have been receiving so much debate. i.e. They/we/the general public would understand that they were paying a high price (Madeleine’s disappearance) for a baby sitting decision that a significant number of people would never have taken in the first place. There is no real public/society interest served by further pursuing grieving parents in this scenario I would suggest. In fact, and assuming the most generous abduction scenario possible, if a negligence case was ever brought to court, I for one would hope that any sentence would be wholly suspended. i.e. All you need to do is lay down a marker for others (the parents are already suffering enough) that whatever the McCann’s/their supporters may think, their choice of baby sitting service for children of that age is not acceptable.
Instead, one of the family went from grieving parent to world wide spokesperson on child issues in what seemed like less than a heartbeat. Now that really does take some chutzpah in my book!
I’m also not a supporter of the “take the twins away” faction - again, based on the most generous interpretation of the abduction scenario. I was utterly shocked when details emerged of their baby sitting service. I couldn’t believe that any parent would think it acceptable to leave two two year olds and a three year old alone in an unlocked apartment. From comments here and elsewhere it appears that what the McCann’s did was more widespread than I might ever have thought. So, I don’t agree with their baby sitting service, but that on its own does not make them negligent parents. As others who work in the child protection arena have attested to, far worse things happen that go unpunished.
I do agree that once you start getting in to other scenarios, like this being their regular baby sitting service night after night which would open up the possibility of a planned rather than a chance abduction, and some of the other allegations being made (no charges yet), then yes it does become difficult to be so understanding of the McCann’s plight.

sunday people claim gerry ‘hit the roof’? so he does emote over some things close to his heart. assuming this isn’t hearsay of course.

It’s not just money left in the unlocked apartment. It is passports, plane tickets, contact details for cancellations, spare cash, jewellery, camera, video camera, portable computer.
(Oh, yes, and three small very portable children)
No one ever, anywhere, except by accident, leaves a door in an apartment in a foreign country unlocked and accessible to any passer by.
UNLESS, as I said in a previous entry some time ago ..
The door has no outside handle, and “unlocked” means something different to the Brits from what it does to the Portuguese.
In Spanish for example, the word for closed and locked is the same - cerrado
Open and unlocked are the same - abierto
you have to add “with the key” - con llave - to make the meaning as precise as it is in English.
And as we know a door can be “closed” in english, but “open” as in “Come on in , the door’s open” = not locked.
Do we know anything about the doors ?
