Madeleine McCann: Fat Portuguese Wives To Blame For Kate McCann
PAULO Reis writes on Madeleine McCann:
According to Bel Mooney, from the Daily Mail, “Portuguese police suspected” of Kate McCann, since the beginning, because “their wives were telling them she looked too controlled, did not weep enough.”
The “cultural difference” between Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece, where “young mothers quickly come to look like overblown roses, their child-bearing settling comfortably around their hips” explains why “it’s hard not to imagine Portuguese women murmuring to their husbands that this British woman is - yes - much too skinny.”
So, the wives of Portuguese detectives “would be instinctively prejudiced against Kate for not looking like them, as well as because her self-control was alien to a culture which traditionally hangs its emotions out like washing on lines”, writes Bel Mooney.
And a question that makes sense, for the Daily Mail columnist, is if the “Portuguese attitude insidiously affect the views of the wider world, tapping into innate expectation of how mothers are ’supposed’ to be…”

The priest meant that he was decieved because McCanns didnt mention they underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) to get their children, which is forbidden by catholicism and thought as going against god. That is what he meant saying they decieved him. I read it in an article somewhere on the web, I cant remember where.

It’s a poorly written article and not thought out well. In the above quote the use of “instinctive” is wrong. The author really means the opposite! –that supposedly the cops DID NOT instinctively know anything, and needed to be instructed by their wives.
The whole idea is stupid, but what the hell, it made for a splashy article.
The reason people determined the guilt of the McCanns is simple. The McCanns not only were guilty of gross neglect, they were also guilty of an atrocious attempt to deny and cover up that guilt, rather than making a sincere admission. It’s all there in the initial interviews, for everyone to see. Both Kate & Gerry say they did nothing wrong.
Most people were aghast at that, and assume that anyone with such low morality would very likely deny and cover up other things as well –such as the death of their daughter. Nothing at all to do with fat or skinny, pretty or ugly.

I’m sure the McCanns don’t need you to tell them that they will suffer for the rest of their lives. They will have been doing that since 10 p.m. on 3 May. As for punishing them, I think they are punishing themselves. Perhaps if all the media hype would now take the focus off the parents and concentrate on looking for Madeleine something might be achieved. I am sure that that is what they wish would happen.

I think you’re all talking crap. The fact about the McCanns’ being disliked has nothing at all to do with the size of poor little Madeleine’s mother, and everything to do with the fact that anyone who leaves a child of that age alone in a house/apartment (especially in a strange country) has no business being a parent and deserves to be hung out to dry. Personally, I believe they should be prosecuted for that alone and the other children should be put into care. If Gerry & Kate were from underprivileged backgrounds and of lower intelligence it could maybe be forgiven to a degree. However, Kate and Gerry are quite the opposite and for that fact alone should have known better and certainly cared more about their childrens welfare. I have just finished watching the channel four investigative program about Madeleine’s disappearance and I can say now, that I wouldn’t have liked to stay on my own in that apartment and I’m used to living on my own AND Im not four years old AND I don’t have nightmare’s anymore, OR wake two or three times during the night wanting my mummy or a drink of water as did my own daughter many moons ago and many other children like her I’m sure. Whatever, did happen to that poor little mite I’m sorry to have to say that the blame for her disappearance lies entirely on the shoulders of Gerry & Kate and it’s something they will have to live with for the rest of their lives. I just hope that the Tapas and their high flying career based lifestyle was worth it!

You’d be surprised to see how many blue-eyed blondes that are Portuguese. Several of my friends are blonde and if by just seeing them, one would think they were of Anglo descent, not Latin.

Much of the genetic stock in Portugal is Celtiberian overlaid by Visigothic. I guess a lot of these people crossed the straits of Gibraltar and produced the blonde berbers that are such a threat to British tabloid identity (nearly as bad as summits in Lisbon that threaten the end of Britain in a few days time!).
I’ve tried to work out the basic dynamic of the weirdly uniform and uncritical British media support for the McCanns since 4 May, and like many others, think the island xenophobia of the obese Brits living on junk food is the main component in the remarkable mass hysteria over this case.
In Latin countries, as Chloe from Spain remarked, maternal obesity has always been a class thing (as it also is even in obese Britain), and the ‘middleclass’ model of slim elegant mothers has been taking over in the now largely urbanized ‘European’ culture that followed Franco and Salazar.
Did Bel Mooney (same Liverpool Irish Catholic stock as Kate - I’ve also mentioned this solidaity thing as a big factor in support for the McCanns) give her own svelte measurements?
Is Julie Burchill a fat slag, and therefore a good parent?

You walked into that one - Yes, they do have blue eyes. One of my best friends is 100% Portuguese and his eyes are a light bluish-green.

Don’t know about Portugal but I suggest visiting a Spanish primary school when mothers are collecting their children and having a good look.
The fat overgrown rose thing is absolute rubbish. Maybe you get it more in rural areas (as you do anywhere) but most Spanish women seem to get their (slim) figure back a couple of months after they’ve had the baby.

A few days ago, Bulldump went all peculiar and strange - then disappeared from here - after supposedly discovering Anorak was registered to an addrress that was the same as Branson’s HQ building. He then hurriedly got in contact with Tony Bennett by direct email.
All very curious, because when I checked the registration it was the same as it was when I checked a week or two earlier.
