It’s a poorly written article and not thought out well. In the above quote the use of “instinctive” is wrong. The author really means the opposite! –that supposedly the cops DID NOT instinctively know anything, and needed to be instructed by their wives.

The whole idea is stupid, but what the hell, it made for a splashy article.

The reason people determined the guilt of the McCanns is simple. The McCanns not only were guilty of gross neglect, they were also guilty of an atrocious attempt to deny and cover up that guilt, rather than making a sincere admission. It’s all there in the initial interviews, for everyone to see. Both Kate & Gerry say they did nothing wrong.

Most people were aghast at that, and assume that anyone with such low morality would very likely deny and cover up other things as well –such as the death of their daughter. Nothing at all to do with fat or skinny, pretty or ugly.

I’m sure the McCanns don’t need you to tell them that they will suffer for the rest of their lives. They will have been doing that since 10 p.m. on 3 May. As for punishing them, I think they are punishing themselves. Perhaps if all the media hype would now take the focus off the parents and concentrate on looking for Madeleine something might be achieved. I am sure that that is what they wish would happen.

You’d be surprised to see how many blue-eyed blondes that are Portuguese. Several of my friends are blonde and if by just seeing them, one would think they were of Anglo descent, not Latin.

I’ve tried to work out the basic dynamic of the weirdly uniform and uncritical British media support for the McCanns since 4 May, and like many others, think the island xenophobia of the obese Brits living on junk food is the main component in the remarkable mass hysteria over this case.

In Latin countries, as Chloe from Spain remarked, maternal obesity has always been a class thing (as it also is even in obese Britain), and the ‘middleclass’ model of slim elegant mothers has been taking over in the now largely urbanized ‘European’ culture that followed Franco and Salazar.

Did Bel Mooney (same Liverpool Irish Catholic stock as Kate - I’ve also mentioned this solidaity thing as a big factor in support for the McCanns) give her own svelte measurements?

You walked into that one - Yes, they do have blue eyes. One of my best friends is 100% Portuguese and his eyes are a light bluish-green.

The fat overgrown rose thing is absolute rubbish. Maybe you get it more in rural areas (as you do anywhere) but most Spanish women seem to get their (slim) figure back a couple of months after they’ve had the baby.

A few days ago, Bulldump went all peculiar and strange - then disappeared from here - after supposedly discovering Anorak was registered to an addrress that was the same as Branson’s HQ building. He then hurriedly got in contact with Tony Bennett by direct email.

All very curious, because when I checked the registration it was the same as it was when I checked a week or two earlier.
