Madeleine McCann: Enright In Hiding, Lord Stevens Deduces And Antonio Teixeira On Homicide

mccann-twins.thumbnail Madeleine McCann: Enright In Hiding, Lord Stevens Deduces And Antonio Teixeira On Homicide MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann

SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE MYSTERY – GUARD AS GERRY RETURNS TO WORK”

No small development. Gerry McCanns returns to work…

Or not. “Police are poised to protect heart surgeon Gerry McCann when he makes an emotional return to work.” That’s right – Gerry McCann is a “consultant cardiologist”

“However Kate, 39, who worked part-time as a locum GP, has said in the past that she is unable to contemplate working again while her daughter remains missing”. Indeed. Kate is a “GP”

MAIL ON SUNDAY: “Madeleine: New police chief’s anger at mess he inherited”

Paulo Rebelo is the new broom. A police source quoted in a Portuguese newspaper says: “There was important material lying all over the place that hadn’t been considered by investigators. A lot of key information was discarded. The whole process is being reviewed. Putting all the papers in order has been a massive task”

Rebelo, “previously involved in investigating a Lisbon paedophile ring”, has taken on Antonio Teixeira, a 59-year-old murder squad detective

Teixeira once said: “Homicide is a crime we’re all capable of committing.” A colleague says:  “By bringing him onto the case, the police are sending out a clear sign that the main lead as far as they concerned is homicide”

“’NO chance the McCanns would be charged with murder in the UK,’ writes Britain’s former top cop” – Former Metropolitan Police chief Lord Stevens is raising his media profile

Says he: “I’ve been a detective at the most senior level for 30 years and have never seen such a witch-hunt, or one based on such flimsy evidence”

Has he seen all the evidence?

NEWS OF THE WORLD: “Maddie’s parents are INNOCENT. I do not think they did it. It doesn’t make sense”

It’s Stevens formerly of the Met once again. He tells us: “There’s absolutely no chance that the parents of Madeleine McCann would be charged with her murder in this country.

“It would be an outrageous miscarriage of justice if they were. I don’t say that from any feelings of sympathy for Kate and Gerry McCann, but from examining the facts of the case — or rather, the total LACK of them.

“I’ve been a detective at the most senior level for 30 years and have never seen such a witch-hunt, or one based on such flimsy evidence”

Stevens looks only at the facts: “They’re both highly professional medics, one a surgeon the other a GP.” These are the facts. And that Madeleine is missing. Stevens, now retired and known as Lord Stevens of Kirkwhelpington is 6ft 3in

THE PEOPLE: “INEPT.. INCOMPETENT.. I’M INCANDESCENT EXCLUSIVE MADDIE: SHOCK NEW CLAIMS AGAINST POLICE”

“Horrified Kate and Gerry McCann were incandescent with rage last night after cops were accused of a catalogue of incompetence in the hunt for their missing daughter Madeleine”

Anger issues?

“Insiders claim vital evidence was ditched by boozy officers and crucial documents were ignored”

Says Clarence Mitchell: “We’d be very concerned to hear all the information in the police’s hands has not been properly or effectively co-ordinated or collated. If Mr Rebelo is strengthening their system that’s all to the good”

DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Booker winner who misread the McCanns”

Anne Enright, Booker prize winner, has made comment son Gerry and Kate McCanns. Liz hutn has read them: “Kate McCann’s face and figure have always been a factor in this story. Indeed, the only obstacle to a new picture of Kate making the front pages is a new CCTV grab of another tortured blonde in another ongoing soap opera, The Diana Inquest. The camera loves them both”

So too the press…

anne-enright.thumbnail Madeleine McCann: Enright In Hiding, Lord Stevens Deduces And Antonio Teixeira On Homicide Hunt reads Enright’s words and concludes: “For Kate to be derided for her composure, and Gerry for his courage in public, or to suggest, as Enright does, that it masks guilt and denial, is despicable. And it won’t do much for the sales of her prize-winning novel, either”

IRISH INDEPENDENT: “Booker winner ‘lost for words’ – Anne Enright remains silent in controversy over McCanns article”

“By Thursday, Ms Enright appeared to have gone into hiding. She was not to be found at her home in Bray, Co Wicklow, and several agreed media engagements were cancelled”

Where is she? Why, on a reading tour in the US

THE TIMES: “Too serence for sympathy”

“After an astonishing attack on the family by the winner of the Booker prize and Kate’s suggestion that people don’t sympathise with her because she doesn’t look maternal enough, our correpsondent asks why some people find it so easy to dislike the McCanns”

The Times is on the case

Margarette Driscoll looks at the evidence and tells us: “But if she thinks people don’t like her because she does not appear sufficiently maternal, she’s way off beam. This is the age of the yummy mummy and in those stakes McCann, who looks as though she could be Sienna Miller’s older sister, is queen. It is her coolness of her manner that repels, not her skinniness, nor her careful choice of jewellery”

And her shoes?

    The mysterious cuddle cat

    an accident..
    Part 3
    written by
    Indiansummer

Like every night cuddlecat was sitting already in bed and was waiting for Rosie. Rosie was in the bathroom with her mum and like every evenig they were discussing about going to bed. Rosie wished to stay awake, but Mummy insisted in bed-time. Rosie was clever: without any grumbling she went to bed and pretended to be asleep. Some time later the parents left and lil´Rosie climbed off the bed. Holding her beloved cuddlecat she went to find any toys. „There must be some in the big bag“ Rosie thougt,. And struggled to pull the heavy bag out of the cupboard. Finally she got it managed and peeped in. But the only thing she could find was a tiny other bag. Mummy used to use that when Rosie felt poorly. There was such a big thing Mummy plugged into her ears to hear her heartbeat, and there were – small sweets, yellow and red..
By now Rosie did not know them, but why not try? Well, they were not that scrumptuous as expected, although she had tried now every colour.. so why does Mummy keep them???
When Rosie got up the whole room seemed to turn, and she couldn´t where her bed was. Although she would better go there… Cuddle cat fell off her hand while Rosie held herself with both hands to remain standing upright. When she walked off cuddlecat lie in her way and she stumbled and banged her head against a wall. That awoke her a bit more, but cuddle cat could see blood flowing from her forehead. „Daddy, Daddy“ Rosie cried who got a headache now. ..“Daddy“ - but nobody came and cuddle cat could not help her…

Rosie faltered to the door, trying to get to her Daddy. That´s no good, cuddlecat thought while getting anxious. Suddenly Rosie had opened the door and stood outside. Cuddle cat tried to follow her but an air draught slammed the door. She could hear Rosie cry outside but hear crying became more and more quiet..
When Mummy returned cuddlecat wished to show her where Rosie had gone. She jumped onto the bed and then onto the window sill, she scratched at the window glass as if she wanted to say: there, look there, outside!
But nobody took any notice of her and so she went back frustrated to her shelf. She anticipated something very bad and guessed that she would be blamed. Because she had been the last one to see Rosie.
Tomorrow she would start her defence:

  15. 15 Logic Says:

Did Lord Stevens say that Gerry being a heart surgeon was a FACT? I have always understood him to be a consultant cardiologist, which is a heart physician. Patients must be referred to a cardiac surgeon if they need a heart operation. That is a FACT. A surgeon may be termed MR (or MRS) instead of DR to indicate that he/she is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, and a physician is termed DR. Of course, aside from their professional lives, they can call themselves whatever they wish, Mr, Mrs, Countess, Prince, etc, etc. There is a popular misconception that once a doctor reaches “consultant” status, he/she is termed Mr or Mrs so I hope this clarifies things a bit for those who are puzzled.

Furthermore, the FACT that Lord Stevens is prepared to find the McCanns innocent without any inside knowledge (? or does he have this) makes him look stupid, to say the least. Are the British police in the habit of drawing conclusions without knowing the facts? They may of course be innocent but how does Lord S know any more than any other member of the public?

  16. 16 Hideki Says:

    MADELEINE MADNESS

Just because Booker does not answer their call, she has “appeared to have gone into hiding?” British media spin is a lot of fun. And Clarence Mitchell is hoping the new police chief allows fewer mistakes? LOL The McCanns will be eternally grateful if some vital evidence was discarded by incompetent police.

But reading between the lines of the Portugese announcements, the new police chief seems to be saying that Madeleine’s death was not accidental, but a homicide.

This ties in with the recent Team McCann moves toward portraying Kate as mentally ill. Obviously, they have learned about some of the evidence (such as forensics) through connections, and have prepared several contingencies — one of which is to admit that a mentally ill Kate killed Madeleine and claim she then convinced herself of an abduction. Kate is probably right now memorizing her lines for this new role as tormented soul.

    KATE’S STORM IN A D-CUP
    Carole Malone 21/10/2007

No one can deny Kate and Gerry McCann have been, and are still going through, Hell. However, I am beginning to lose patience at this couple’s obsession with the media, their public image and how the world sees them.
It’s bad enough they saw fit to hire a press officer to market and control their public image. But now Kate McCann is moaning that she’s being persecuted because her bosom isn’t big enough and because she doesn’t look maternal enough.
Someone ought to tell her it has never been about “looking” maternal. Had she actually acted a bit more maternal she would never have left her three kids alone in an unlocked room while she went out to have dinner.
And the very idea that if she were two stone heavier and had D-cup bosoms people might have more sympathy is selfpitying twaddle.
I can’t think of two people in the entire world who’ve had more sympathy, more compassion and more public support than Kate and Gerry McCann.
And what does Kate mean by “persecution”? Is it the fact she and Gerry have been questioned by the police? Does she really imagine she would have been immune to that had she been fatter?
The way she looks has nothing to do with anything. No one cares whether she’s a D-cup or a Size 10.
We just want to find out what happened to Madeleine.

Reply to 975 yesterday 20 Oct 2007 (The Real Stig)

    Comments interleaved:

The Real Stig said: “I too think the door might have been locked, which is WHY they were so adamant she had been taken by someone”.

COMMENT: The McCanns’ latest version of what happened, we should remember, is that the abductor entered through the (unlocked) patio door, then hid behind the door to the children’s bedroom as Gerry McCann popped in around 9.05pm to 9.10pm to check the children were asleep, the abductor then held his breath and his nerve, then removed Madeleine from her bed, found Cuddle Cat and placed it on a high shelf or ledge, and then scaled a window 3 feet or so above floor level and climbed out of the window with an asleep or sedated Madeleine. It scarcely matters to this highly improbable account whether the patio door was unlocked or whether the purported abductor had a key or master key to the patio door. At the same time, the purported abductor made sure that he left the room in such a condition as to make it ‘immediately obvious’ to each of the McCanns that there had been an abduction and that therefore Madeleine had not wandered off (though one of theyr myriad press spokesmen said two weeks ago that most of the first few weeks the McCanns were wondering if Madeleine had wandered off!).

As fas as we know, the main door was on a swipe card systen, we don’t know about the patio door. The latest version of the McCann abduction hoax was, of course, to explain (a) why the window was open and (b) why there might have been blood around the window-sill of the children’s room or on the curtains.

The explanation that best fits the facts is that the McCanns, with or without help from others amongst the ‘Tapas 9′, opened the window themselves to make it look like an abduction (and part-opened the shutters from the inside for the same purpose), and that if there was Madeleine’s blood in or around the window-sill, it was caused by a violent event on Madeleine in the children’s room. Hence the McCanns’ frantic insistence that if Madeleine’s blood were to be found in the children’s room, it could have been caused by a trip on the aeroplane steps a few days earlier or by a nose bleed.

    ==============================================

The Real Stig said: ” Faced with no sign of forced entry I think they made up the door being unlocked bit. So I think it is possible they mislead on this point, because Madeline was gone, the window was open and they assumed the shutter had to have been forced”.

COMMENT: If you look up the very first reports on the case, you’ll see that one of Gerry and Kate McCann’s relatives was told by Gerry on the ‘phone that first night that the shutters had been forced open from the outside and this was picked up universally by the media. Later, the PJ released a statement saying that the shutters had NOT been forced and Mark Warners also issued a statement to the same effect within 24 hours - even earlier in fact. The lying McCanns were then forced to change their story because of these facts about the shutters. They’ve changed their story several times.

    ===============================================

The Real Stig said: “When confronted with it not being forced, they made something up”.

COMMENT: A useful concession by you, The Real Stig, that the McCanns are capable of lying. And as any judge or lawyer will tell you, anyone capable of deliberately lying at one point is capable of lying at any other point.

    =============================================

The Real Stig said: “Had they known at the time that there had been a spate of robberies with no signs of forced entry, they might have realised they could have been straight about the door being locked. Then of course there was also that email about the maid who had been fired and had a grudge. I am purely speculating here, but it is possible there was an abduction and the abductor had a key…”

COMMENT: Yes, indeed, a pure speculation, not based on any deduction. There are so many deductions that can be made in this case, without resporting to specualation. The recations, actions and omissions. contradictions, secretivenes, deceptoi an dmanipalrt of the McCans and the ‘Tapas; 9 are all observaeble fa supoi swhich various deductionsc an be made. By the way, had there been ‘a spate of robberies’ in the area? I don’t think so.

    ==============================================

The Real Stig said: “Imagine how many people would want to cover that up, from Mark Warner management on down! Look at how quickly they moved the nanny to Greece and they eventually fired the other nanny. There was that very recent case of several British school girls being sexually assaulted in their room in a hostel in France. The perpetrator obtained a key!”

COMMENT: Imagine how desperate you would be to come up with a convincing ‘cover story’ if you had accidentally, negligently or deliberately caused the death of your daughter.

    ==============================================

  28. 28 Judge Dread Says:

So latest rubbis from the McCann camp sees Gerry going back to work before Christmas and Kate staying at home because she can’t bare to be parted from the twins and wants to focus on finding Madeline. YEAH RIGHT.

If Gerry needs to be doing something, he should be back in Portugal helping the police to sort out the mess the first investigation made. If Kate wants to advance the seach she should be with him.

As for not being able to leave the twins, it wasn’t a problem when they went globe trotting, which would have been the time when they would have wanted to be with them 24 hours a day. Its only since she has been vilified by the likes of us, that she has suddenly realised that she should have been with the twins all along. That what normal caring responsible paernets would have done.

As for Lord Stevens article I have it in front of me and it confirms things I have said since day 1.

The Portugese police screwed by by not securing the crime scene and failing to make the McCanns the prime suspects immediately. While they may be inexperienced in cases like this, those are basic police tactics because the McCanns would have been the last known people to have seen her before she went missing.

Many people will dismiss the report simply because it goes against their beliefs. Thats is not the way to look at it. We should keep an open mind. Stevens has experience that we don’t, and he has contacts in the Leicestershire police force therefore can keep on top of developments.

His article is as much his opinion based on known facts as ours is in here.

OK initial rant over, so I’m off to my bunker ready to receive flak. Where’s that damn helmet gone.

  29. 29 Lilith Says:

    Exactly right, Ade.
Being maternal has nothing to do with the way you look but is has everything to do with the way you act. It’s about what you do , not what you say.
Every woman has a different approach toward motherhood and weight has nothing to do with that. I see a lot of mothers around me, slim or not, and some are more nurturing and protecting, some are more active and hands on and I see no connection with their breast size.
Kate is reality-challenged to think it has.

  30. 30 vera Says:

I wouldn’t take notice of anything this ex ‘coppers copper’ has to say…

“Lord Stevens, former Metropolitan Police Commissioner said on BBC Radio 4 Today programme on 19 September, that the MPA had not been informed about Operation Kratos. This was repeated in the Evening Standard.

His statement was incorrect. He later retracted his comments and the Authority issued a statement to the Press Association setting the record straight. This was circulated to the media.
