Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann Sobs, Gerry McCann Points And 14 Questions
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE’S TORMENT – ‘I think she is being held by someone in their house..as Madeleine’s mummy I feel in my heart she’s out there’”
“Distraught” Kate McCann is on Spanish TV. She is being interviewed. Says she: “I don’t know how anyone could harm anyone as beautiful as Madeleine”

“SOBBING: Kate and Gerry on TV”
“14 questions Portuguese police are flying to Britain to out to the McCanns and friends” – So reports Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas. Why would the police publish the questions and allow the McCanns and their friends to prepare answers? Why only – or as many as - 14 questions? Unless these are questions made up by the media, questions the police are “expected” to ask…
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – POLICE WANT ANSWERS TO 14 QUESTIONS. What detectives demand to know”
Pages 4 and 5: “Kate breaks down during TV grilling.” Kate and Gerry McCann are on the telly. Says Kate: “I feel sad and I feel lonely and our life is not as happy without Madeleine…we want people to try to reunite us with your beautiful girl”
And: “We know the truth. We know we are totally innocent. That is why we are calm. We know each other”
Says a “British detective”: “The detectives could be giving the suspects enough rope to hang themselves. It is a common tactic in police investigations to let those under suspicion speak on television in case they trip themselves up”
THE SUN front page: “KATE WEEPS FOR MADDIE – I feel in my heart she is out there”
“Distraught” Kate on the telly. Kate and Gerry are publicising a telephone hotline. No, not 999, their own number
Pages 4 and 5: “MADDIE NEEDS US – So lonely without our lovely girl, sobs Kate”
Three pictures of “Precious..the happy Maddie her mum longs to see”
Three pictures of the McCanns:
“Anguish…Gerry faces TV quiz”
“Ordeal…Kate fights back tears”
“Brave…but the McCanns struggle with their emotions as they relive the night Maddie vanished”
The hotline. Says Kate McCann: “We want to appeal to the people of Spain, Portugal and North Africa to help us and to tell them we have a new central phone number for them to call”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE MUM FINALLY CRACKS – Suspect Kate sobs on TV as she is quizzed”
Pages 8 and 9: “MADDIE’S MUM TV BREAKDOWN – Torment as Kate’s sobs halt interview four times”. Spanish TV journalist Roberto Arce sees Kate “prostrate with pain”
The McCanns hotline number is 00 34 902 300 213
DAILY MAIL pages 8 and 9: “I’M SAD AND LONELY…LIFE IS NOT HAPPY”
Says Mrs McCann: “Somebody knows something. It is not about us. It is about Madeleine.” Is it? We are watching the parents
Gerry McCanns is a “consultant cardiologist”. He says: “We have not been charged with anything”
“Will they find her in Spain?” – Gerry McCann tells El Mundo newspaper (Spain): “The possibility that Madeleine is alive and in Spain is real…If someone had a car, it is clear they could cross into Spain. There is no border guard and no one closed the border the night Madeleine disappeared.” And we look again at the police
THE TIMES page 3: “Sobbing Kate McCann insists that Madeleine is alive and being held”
“Days of hope and despair” – The Times looks at some key dates: June 21 (Madeleine in Malta); August 3 (Madeleine in Belgium); August 23 (Madeleine in Morocco)

I have not seen the interview. Can’t really comment. But seen a clip on the news this morning. I am looking forward to your views.
Says Kate: “I feel sad and I feel lonely and our life is not as happy …
Nost as Happy??? So she is happy than, but very.
I don’t think I ever would be happy loosing my beautiful little girl.
But as I have written, I have not seen the interview, so would not be fair to comment.

Crocodile tears, nothing more. This is merely more of her having to react to all the comments and news of her stony face and how she never shows any grief. She was probably coached into learning to cry on cue. Boo fecking hoo.

I do wish the UK press would stop all this nonsense about ‘no one closed the border, there were no border guards’ - it s as ridiculous as claiming there are no border guards between England and Wales, and ‘no one’ closed the English/Welsh border……….they are still promoting images of an inefficient Checkpoint Charlie.

My thoughts on the interview:
Gerry tends to be very abstract about his children. But, the one time he does say anything more personalized is in relation to the last time he supposedly saw Madeleine.
“”I was the last to see her,” he said. “I saw her and thought how beautiful she was and thought how lucky I was to be a father of three children,” he added.
Now, Gerry may have really thought this or he may be making a statement that covers two issues: one, that he DID see Madeleine asleep in bed when he checked on her” and “the three children are his biologically.”
If innocent, Gerry seems to be most in control and Kate most in denial. Kate states that she believes Maddie is alive and living peacefully in someone’s house and she doesn’t see that it is possible for anyone to hurt such a beautiful child. If Kate isn’t acting, she may be convincing herself that Maddie was just taken because someone wanted a pretty daughter and, therefore, Maddie will eventually come home relatively unharmed. Maybe this is why she isn’t freaking out about Maddie being raped and tortured on a daily basis. Maybe this is why she has never broken down and cried during an interview (even though some of the print media claims she did during this interview, all I saw was a continuous sad, stressed, person with a slighty shaky voice who seemed to wipe away one tear before pushing her hair back (like she was embarrassed to have a tear fall). In other words, her behavior is very similar to other interviews, although a bit less angry and more sad.
One of the oddities about the McCann interviews is that both parents are very even in their speaking (except a few minor flares when asked about drugging Maddie or being suspects). Most parents of missing children have a very varied responses when answering questions and often one of the parents completely loses it. I see a steady answer from say the husband, and then the wife breaks in and starts pleading with the abductor. Or the wife starts telling what her daughter is like and the husband jumps in and, choking on his words, starts talking to his daughter, “Just hang on, honey! We are looking everyway for you. Don’t give up!” And so it goes. The only other couple I have ever seen come across this way are the Ramseys and that isn’t exactly a good sign. Of course, if we can prove the McCanns or Ramseys innocent, then we will have increased our education as to the anomolies of parent of missing children behavior.
And why was Gerry so angry at the end of the interview? Any thoughts on that?

Good morning
October 25th, 2007 at 8:11 am
I have seen the interview now on Sky News.
I really don’t know what to think to be honest. They try to be very convincing Madeleine had been snatched. I am out all morning to a client. Will check up your views later.
In the meantime the little girl still has not been found. Feel so sorry for the kid.

Is this a misquote?
Says Kate: “I feel sad and I feel lonely and our life is not as happy without Madeleine…we want people to try to reunite us with your beautiful girl”
or this?
Gerry “As her parents we want to reunite her with her parents”
Do I detect a script?????

I have said this before, but at the risk of repeating myself -
No matter how the question is asked, they always reply by turning it to a matter of ‘did they sedate’ their chidlren, and the answer is NO.
Doctors are scrupulous when it comes to intent - a lethal syringe full of morphine is not a lethal syringe full of morphine when it is used for the intent of pain relief. Intent is more important to Doctors than the outcome of medication.
I accept they did not ‘intend’ to sedate their children, but did they administer something else which had the effect, but not the intent, of sedating them? I do wish someone would pose that question.

Gerry walked out of another interview. This is an earlier story. At the end of this interview, he tersely thanks the film crew and gets out of his chair to leave.

Verry rude and personal I would say. I did not think this board was about attacking each other.
I have seen the Interview but don’t think a lot of it. There is no information what soever I get out of it what makes trigger anything interesting.
October 25th, 2007 at 8:20 am
Gerry looks like a ventriloquist
October 25th, 2007 at 8:20 am
Funny really, you would expect Kate to look a little more like that immediately after Madeleine had gone - but 6 months later???
She says “I’ll take anything thats thrown at me”. Really. Then how about arranging an interview with Anorak posters so we can give you some real questions to ask?……….

9 Criminal Profiler Pat Brown…
I was struck by Kate’s words being about the effect on her… *I* am so lonely, *I* am so sad, *I* am less happy… she never addressed Madeleine. If she really believes that the little lass is alive and well and living in someone’s house, wouldn’t she be using the TV cameras to try to get a message to her? It seems very strange, like it’s all about her and nothing about Madeleine.

A bit sedated yourself this morning Michael?
There are many, many posters here named Anonymous, for the simple reason that if you are registered with the site and forget to log off you appear as Anonymous. But since I am the only Anonymous who has posted this morning I shall reply to you.
I don’t have children. I don’t sedate them. I don’t sedate my dogs.
Now which Anonymous were you trying to rile?

This quote……Last night Tracy Higgins, whose daughter goes to school with the little girl, said: “She’s a lovely person – the perfect mother. She dotes on her daughter. I can’t believe it.”
Of course isn’t referring to Kate, but, Sara Cooper, who may have attempted to kill her own young daughter while on holiday.
