663 Annie_M

From your paste:

"Earlier in the day, the McCanns released a new photograph of their daughter on a Shetland pony as part of a fresh appeal for her safe return."

I've been away so I don't know if anyone's said anything about the 'coincidence' a new picture was released -- there was a lot of discussion about why so few pictures of Madeleiene have been released and voila, one turns up. I'm convinced now they read this in order to make their next move. I've always thought that.

It was a great article, but did you notice it was written by a Brit? I guess no one in Inglaterra would touch it so he went to the Arab press.

HOUSTON — Police in Texas say the body of a young girl washed ashore in a storage box in Galveston Bay last week could have come from as far away as Europe, but officially ruled out it being British toddler Madeleine McCann, who went missing in Portugal six months ago.

MIKE - Yes of course they could - as you say quite rightly - it has been from day one "us, me, we " - they have an awful lot to lose, and when you have gone this far it gets easier. I will be very surprised if ultimately they are released without charge, but I will also be very surprised if they are charged. I think this case will go on record as the most publicised unsolved crime of all time. There have been so many diversions, red herrings and inaccuracies in this case. I think that the idea to give an immunity from prosecution for anyone who is an accessory to the crime to come clean would be a jolly good course to take. But maybe that would be too easy - eh?

Everything about the McCanns' behaviour, body language, and choice of expressions tells me that they are not telling the complete truth about what happened on that night.

I notice Kate's comments are very centred on her and her "status" as a mother. The same is true of Gerry, but to a lesser extent. "We went out as a family of five and we're coming back as a family of four." (i.e. We've lost our integrity and respectability as a family, not "We lost our daughter"?) "I'm her mummy..." (Not, "She's my little girl...") and the dreadful, "Life is less fun without Maddy..."

I thought from almost day one that the parents were somehow implicated, but the longer it goes on, the harder I find it to believe that they are directly responsible. Could they and all their friends keep such an enormous and terrible secret with no one cracking under the pressure?

Yes, they are backing off.

Like you, I can't read the original article! Would be interesting to know why they chose that particular one.

817 Kris.

I still suspect Kate more than Gerry. He is an awful liar (I mean not good at lying).

Her words are strange, as you have recognised - her mothers concern seems less about the loss of the child than the effect it has on Kate. She (Kates mother) seems to have responded more normally than any opf the others.

Her asking for a priest that night - I think indicating not an abducted child but a child who had died - it was religion she turned to immediately.

Regarding the request from the lawyers for 25 people to be interviewed. This is difficult to unravel. Is it driven by Gerry? Is it the lawyers deciding the right thing to do and the Mccanns not able to reject their advice as it would throw suspicion on them?

Whats your take on that?

Many more photos? Where?

Alos, why arent there lots of the holiday? Surely they would be the best ones to use. So I dont think you will find Stevo is satisfied - his argument was, where are all the recent photos?

819 Kris.

I agree with that.

But it does cast suspicion on the Mccanns. Why did they come up with the ideas of nappies and rotting meat? Why didnt they think, hang on, it might have been someone else who had access to the car!

Remeber the cry 'They've taken her'. Someone helping out - Kate wasnt told?

Whatever happened, I always wondered why everyone seemed so amazed at the idea that Maddies corpse could have been put in that car. It did not have to be the Mccanns directly, but could have been someone acting on their behalf.

Am I wrong in thinking that the cadaver dogs traced scent in the direction of a nearby supermarket? Wondered whether somebody, Murat perhaps, had a contact there which would have enabled him. or whoever, to store the body in a feezer on those premises. If a premeditated crime, it woud have been thought out in advance, otherwise perhaps it's not impossible for a quick thinking person to know there was access available to a freezer there or elewhere?

Been thinking…I’ve been against the Mccanns it’s true - for their neglect, but put that away… if they did it how? I just can’t see how - if the DNA evidence is correct and they transported her body in a hire car 25 days later - where did they keep the keep the body? How did they hide it so quickly in such a way they could recover it later? How did they transport and dispose of it under the glare of the media? Where did they dispose of it when their car movements have been analysed by cctv? If they did it they must be criminal masterminds

Has anyone got any plausible explanations as to how the Mccanns did it? Otherwise I think we all have to accept they didn’t do it
++++++++++++++++++++++
I have no idea of what actually happened. If the McCann’s, or any of their friends, are directly involved in Madeleine’s disappearance then whatever fate befell Madeleine almost certainly did not occur between 9.00 PM and 10.00 PM on May 3rd. That will just be the time window that the ‘illusionist’ wants their audience to focus on.

Perhaps we should check if any of them are members of the Magic Circle? ;-)

And one final comment. Regarding the DNA evidence in the car (which may or may not be true, depending on which news story you read)... Do we not know for certain that Oldfield at least had access to this car? Why do we assume Kate and Gerry were actively involved in the murder/body disposal? It seems to me there are several T-9 members (or at least one) who had access to the car and could have done this with or without the McCanns knowledge.

Dang, I wish I'd been able to get on earlier today-- I had so very much to say!!!

Let's start with the photos: many new ones released. Let's hope this mollifies our Weird Anoraker Stevo, who is constantly saying that the dozen photos of Madeleine we have aren't enough and somehow implicates the McCanns in her death. I like the photo of Madeleine on the pony with her mom on the side.

Second: Interesting that the McCanns have submitted a list of 25 names to the PJ of people they "demand" they interview, including the nanny by the last name of Baker who apparently saw someone looking in the apartment window. Interesting also is the news that four members of the Tapas 9 may be named suspects-- not surprising O'Brien and Tanner, not surprising Oldfield, but surprising David Payne.

Lastly, I'm going to agree with Thea who, very early today, found the statements of Kate upon the 6-month mark really odd. The phrasing is actually fascinating.... When I read it several times on CNN (that's CNN -USA to you Brits) ... if you read it, you can see that these statements feel weird for a mom who really believes her child is alive , here, on Earth. and, they feel so PRECISE, so carefully phrased, not a natural speech pattern, or linguistic pattern, but phrases that seem so constructed. So I read them again and upon another reading I realized they made more sense-- MUCH more sense-- coming from a mother who knows her daughter is dead but believes they will be reuinted in (cough cough) Heaven. So Madeleine is "out there, somewhere..."

So here, finally, is my best guess on what happened: Madeleine died as the result of SOME accident or act of violence, and by my bet is it was NOT Kate, but one of the Tapas 9-- O'Brien, Tanner, someone. Kate knows Madeleine is dead. Gerry is controlling her, forcing her to play along with the abduction theory, to protect his friend (and connections, jobs, etc). This explains a lot to me-- Kate's weird reactions to things, her odd phrasing, and yet her very obvious and palpable grief. She is not willing to play the usual mom of missing kid role because she knows better, so she insists on phrasing things in a way that are accurate for what really happened. If we knew what really happened, Kate's bizarre statements (which start early on and only culminate in these recent doozies) would make much more sense.

That's my story at the moment... we'll see if I stick to it.
