Madeleine McCann: Find Madeleine, Kate Must Not Cry And No Evidence
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE: NEW HOPE SHE COULD BE ALIVE”
Page 7: “Police: We have no evidence she did in apartment” – Portugal’s “top forensic laboratory” cannot find evidence that Madeleine died on the night she went missing
A “senior police source” says the Find Madeleine campaign has hampered the investigation. Says he: “People used to look at her picture and well up with tears… Now they see her picture and it gets no reaction”
Does this say more about human nature than the campaign?
“Mountain folk who love their children so keen to find her” – Villagers in Morocco are looking for Madeleine. “We very happy to help,” says one local
DAILY MIRROR page 6: PUBLIC ‘SICK OF MADDY’ COP SHOCK”
It is “astonishing” it is a “cruel attack”. The police source says: “They’ve overdone it and it’s time to stop.” Can the McCanns introduce another child, a new face we can see? Problem is, the McCanns have only one daughter to focus on. And it she they want found
Says a friend of the McCanns: “Madeleine is currently the most famous missing child in the world and we don’t think that is a bad thing” – such is the way of Brand McCann
DAILY MAIL page 5: “Madeleine campaign ‘could have put her in danger’”
Carlos Anjos, chairman of the Portuguese Union of Police Detectives, says: “The parents and their publicity campaign have turned her into a symbol of something ugly and wrong. People are sick of having it rammed down their throats”
Says a police source: “I know a woman who was out before sunrise every day, searching all day. She couldn’t eat or sleep. It was like she (Madeleine) was her baby. Now she pulls a face when she sees pictures”
Says Clarence Mitchell PR: “Everything we have done from the word go has been very carefully considered and thought through”
And some people would say that is the problem – too careful, too thought through
DAILY STAR page 11: “MADDIE: ‘EYE’ GIRL IN MOROCCO ISN’T HER”
Naoual Malhi sees Madeleine in Morocco. The McCanns private detectives head to Morocco. But local police find the child first. It’s a Moroccan child with blonde-ish hair. It’s not Madeleine
“Expert insists friends are key” – David Wilson, professor of criminology at Birmingham University, says his “educated guess” is that Madeleine is not alive.
THE SUN page 9: “Cop rap for’ Find Maddie’”
Says Clarence Mitchell: “We have done our absolute best to make people aware Madeleine is out there”
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 2: “No more TV tears for Madeleine, Kate told”
“Kate McCann has been told by British police not to cry in public for fear it could play into the hands of Madeleine’s abductor”
Clarence Mitchell tells a Spanish TV station that British police experts are worried a kidnapper would “get off” on any show of emotion by her and husband Gerry.
THE TIMES: “Kate and Gerry McCann ‘created information monster’ that hindered search for Madeleine McCann”
Says Carlos Anjos: “There is no criminal investigation which can feed a news frenzy for six months, so what we have seen are both English and Portuguese journalists behaving in a scandalous and unprofessional way. Writing terrible stories in the papers, some of which have clearly affected the McCanns… now we have to say that the McCanns are partly to blame for this. Because it was something they created”
THE GUARDIAN and THE INDEPENDENT: No Madeleine news

there have been some pretty good hypotheses presented as to how madeleine might have died and her body disposed of. i haven’t seen any similar ones supporting an abduction as yet so i am keen to pursue the alternatives .
i am trying to get my head around the time lines. i think we can assume they are reasonably elastic from an interpretation point of view. ie no two watches at same time, possibly some people not wearing watches on holiday and having to make best guesses regarding times /durartions. the following posts have been helpful.

if the cadaver dogs did find the scent of MM’s death on KM, and the scent takes around two hours to manifest itself, then you would think the time of death was around 6:00 pm or earlier. by all acounts KM left for the tapas bar around 8:00 pm and supposedly did not come into contact with MM again. IMHO, most folks i know try and go on holiday with clean clothes so i would be surprised if KM’s clothes were scented from coming into contact with 6 dead people immediately before going on holiday. presumably the existence of these corpses and what clothes were worn at the time KM inspected them could be verified. if verified, this would provide a valid reason for the scent being present. if not, then there has to be an alternative source of the scent.
anyone else have a view on this?

From The Cured
“I would say I’m sorry
If I thought that it would change your mind
But I know that this time
I’ve said too much
Been too unkind
I try to laugh about it
Cover it all up with lies
I try and
Laugh about it
Hiding the tears in my eyes
’cause Kate don’t cry
Kate don’t cry
I would break down at your feet
And beg forgiveness
Plead with you
But I know that
It’s too late
And now there’s nothing I can do
So I try to laugh about it
Cover it all up with lies
I try to
laugh about it
Hiding the tears in my eyes
’cause Kate don’t cry”
Her lack of tears has been debated since day one and only now this news comes out?

-Brand McCann ????
-People are sick of having it rammed down their throats
It is hard to give my own full opinion. Don’t know what I would do when my child went missing. But if I think aboutit, I don’t think I would have done what Brand McC did. I think the police is right.
I am in Holland as you might have guessed. A majority of people here can’t be bothered about Madeleine anymore. They think the Mc C’s are now a nuicence. They don’t even read the news about them anymore.
People here say that it is entirely their fault. They should not have left their kids alone and should now count their losses and move on. Leave it to the police now like all other parents do who lost their children.
Their popularity is going down rapidly in Holland. A lot of people here suspect them being involved because it is all so weird.

7 dutchbird
I think it’s almost worse here in Portugal. I went to a kiosk this morn to get some fags and the counters are filled with newspapers. The old woman who owns it, pointed and made a gagging sound at one which mentioned the MC’s and shook her head, saying in Portuguese she was sick of it.

I think we are all sick of it. It will even worse when the truth comes out and all the lies and spin are revealed. This will run on for years! Books, films, television.

For God’s sake Toni why don’t you just fuck this Teddy and put him out of his misery?

I can imagine that very much. It is like the McC’s brand more have an anti campagne against Portugal and the police. That might not be so, but is how people Holland perceive this.
Dutch people don’t blame the Portugues. We love that country and the people. It won’t stop us to go on holiday there. But the campaigne of McC’s could dammaged the tourisst from Britain going. It definately won’t stop me to go to Portugal with my 4 year old little girl. As I would go on holiday for her to give her a great time and enterttain her and enjoy seeing her happy. I am allways 24 hours a day with her on holiday. ESPECIALLY abroad.
I think that it does not do the British people any good. Their populairity is declining a bit here as the McC’s have the wrong public relations toward this beautifull KIngdom.
I have lived 16 years in England and settled back in Holland last year. Knowing the Brits from all their countries Wales, Engeland, N. Ireland and Scotland, I only can say that I have good memories and miss the UK every single day.
TheMcC’s should consider to step back now and let it rest. Sometimes when you let go of things cases get solved in it’s own time. This is pushing it so hard. You can’t force a seed to sproud out and grow into a tree. Can you???
If they love their country they should think hard about the aftermath this can have on many.

I admire them for keeping Maddie in the spotlight and not giving up hope (If she was indeed abducted) I think the fault lies with the PR campaign, the bad publicity is a direct reflection of the crap PR ppl they have employed, first comical ali and now the clarence guy, they did not need to have all those statements and press conferences, the posters and appeals by them are sufficient. It is the responsiblilty of a PR team to promote a good product not let the side down.
well they must now reep what the sow I suppose.
got a life yet arthur

“Kate McCann has been told by British police not to cry in public for fear it could play into the hands of Madeleine’s abductor”
So they do take the advice of the police.
Then why not take the advice of the police when they said not to give away the fact Madeleine had a colomboa?
I posted this last night as someone thought a photo of Madeleine had the colomboa digitaly removed. Why not do it with all the photos as the colomboa is not the first thing you would use to recognise Madeleine, how close would you have to be to see it? Uncomfortably close?
Judge 910- because if someone did abduct Madeleine then her unique characteristic has been given away, they have got a child that whether they cut her hair, dye her hair, make her up they can not get rid of the colomboa.
The image of Madeleine is enough for genuine people to report a sighting, my, just gone ,4yr old recognises Madeleine frequently as the little girl who is missing. For someone to report a definite sighting of Madeleine due to the colomboa they would have to be really close to the child to substantiate this, would the abductor , if they dared take a child out with a trademarked defect, not be alerted to this fact and run to the hills or worse!!!!!!!!!

It would seem the McDidits are just analysing what people on the net are saying and coming up with reasons for their behaviour based on whatever is the main topic of discussion on sites such as this. This in turn leads to even more cynicism and sarcasm (much of which I have to chuckle at a lot of the time as it’s genius). We are then subjected to drivel such as the Tonight programme telling us we’re all evil b@stards for having the audacity to even suspect the McSedators did it/ have some kind of involvement. In some ways you could liken what’s going on re anti McTapas supporters to the persecution of the early Christians with one subtle difference, the early Christians didn’t put themselves in the middle of the arena and then ask for the lions to be sent in. The McDNAmeansnothing must rue the day they opened Pandoras box.
Well to the McWhingers and all there supporters chew on this one.
Don’t throw meat to wild dogs and expect them not to eat it.

were the tapas 9 sober on the night of the 3rd?
see http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/11/05/nmaddy205.xml
part of article …
“As part of his renewed push for answers, Paulo Rebelo, Portugal’s second most senior policeman - who is now leading the investigation - has also summoned the two local police officers who were first on the scene to ask whether the McCanns and their friends seemed drunk, reports claimed.
Kate and Gerry McCann say they and their seven friends - dubbed the Tapas Nine - ordered six bottles of wine but only drank four before Madeleine was discovered missing.
Police sources suggested the group generally drank daiquiris, martinis and beers before dinner, up to 14 bottles of wine with their meal, and almond liqueur afterwards.
However, local police officers who arrived at the complex on May 3 were reported in the Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha as saying that the group “seemed to be normal” and were not drunk.
The group’s waiter, Jose Baptista, added that they were “very sensible” about their drinking and usually had eight to ten bottles over the course of two or three hours.”
November 7th, 2007 at 8:23 am
I thought it was ill advised to promote the colomboa thingy
any abductor would deem too much of a risk factor and got rid off her

The weirdest thing in Holland is, you are not allowed to grow Canabis, but can smoke it…
That does not make sense? Does it?
Have you ever been in a Dutch Coffee Shop? They even have a menu with loads of flavours and also Hash cake. Some people get really sick eating that.
November 7th, 2007 at 8:24 am
you can grow 2 plants if I am correct dutchbird?
November 7th, 2007 at 8:29 am
Ah well dutchbird, form my understanding from some dutch chums… you are allowed 2 plants per person. Anything else when you are caught is judged by a points scheme on the technical aspect of equipment involved…. not that I know anythiong about this in the UK what with it being completely illegal and all
November 7th, 2007 at 8:30 am
Ahh my comment did come through… I repeated myself due to my crazy internet connection breaking… apologies

I would think that having just murdered your eldest daughter might sober you up pretty quickly, that is if they did do that naturally.
