Private investigators hunting for four-year-old Maddie were contacted last week and the information has been given to the Portuguese police.
The witness claims she saw a woman pass on the child to a man in central Portugal, about 100 miles from the resort of Praia da Luz, where the McCanns were staying.
The man and woman then left in different vehicles and in different directions.
**This witness waited 6 months to give this info? I also read that Gerry says Madeleine was watched BEFORE she was abducted? From day one the Mccanns said that someone was paying special attention to their daughter. So WHY did they leave her alot? She was left at the creche during the day and she was left night after night in an unlocked apartment while they were with the other adults. They never reported this “someone” paying special attention to her? And you would think they would NOT let her out of their sight for the whole vacation. I also read that the detective is 100% sure Madeleine is alive….i hope he is correct BUT how can he say this?

I am new here but have been following these posts for several days. Very addicting to say the least. lol Suppose instead of Gerry having a fling with the tennis instructor that afternoon as a few people have suggested. ….Kate was having a fling herself and Madeleine walked in on it that day?? Maybe HER lover “accidently” killed Madeleine? If the “twins” can talk as well as everyone implies they can, I’d suppose Madeleine would be able to describe in great DETAIL what she saw her mother doing……..HHmmm…….. Just a thought.

Yes, it’s going to be very interesting finding who, if any, of the Tapas9 wish to change their statements. Clarence Mitchell says he’s spoken to all the friends & they’ve told him none of the are - I’d like to hear it direct from them that they aren’t! Depending on who changes their story, it could be very damning for the McCanns.
I’d heard about the bag of clothes some weeks ago but I’m sure I’d heard that it was unconnected to Madeleine. Having said that, there are posters on other Anorak forums who say they’ve read that DNA matching or similar to Madeleine’s was found.
I’m somewhat surprised at the rush to investigate the ’sighting’ in Bosnia; I know the private investigators have to follow up all the sightings (thats what they’re paid for) but they seem to have focused on this particular one.
Yes, I’d heard about the mointoring of text messages etc some time ago, and I suppose they wanted G.McCann’s laptop for emails. The fact the police mention the texts makes me think there’s something or someone significant, or ist it just the number of texts on that one evening? With GM being a doctor, could the texts be keeping in touch with the hospital regarding his patients?
This case gets stranger by the week!

So we have the following info:
Gerry’s text messages are being investigated again?(didnt we hear they were checking into the text and phone and emails from the Tapas 9 months ago?)
Madeleine sightings in Bosnia and Malta? Bosnia being checked? and the man that saw her got the number off the car?
A bag of clothes found by the airport in Portugal?(some of the DNA COULD be linked to Madeleine?)
A few of the Tapas 9 have decided to talk to police again about the night Madeleine disappeared?
**Wow alot going on here. It would seem easy to sort out some of this. The text messages - what are they? who was Gerry texting? Apparently the police know.
The sighting in Bosnia, they have the number off the car, i’m sure they could just check that pretty easily? The 4 of the Tapas 9 that want to talk, why? what do they have to say?
It would be interesting to see what happens in the next week or so.

The hunt for Madeleine switched to Bosnia yesterday after a tourist saw a blonde girl struggling with a man and heard her scream: “I want my Daddy.”
The McCanns’ private detectives have travelled to Bosnia-Herzegovina to investigate.
The witness, a father-of-six from Co Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, said: “The instant I saw her my heart skipped a beat because it immediately struck me that she looked like Maddie McCann.
“I got very close to her, right up beside them, and was about to speak to the child when the man put his hand over her mouth and shoved her into the car.
“He was pushing her into the back seat of a Volkswagen Golf and was yelling in some language I didn’t understand. But my blood ran cold when I heard her cry, ‘I want my Daddy’.”

Seems odd that all these people are close enought to KNOW it’s Madeleine…BUT they cant step in or atleast draw attention to her. This man did say he wrote down the number on the car so it should be easily checked out i would think.

Wonderful to hear from you again. Hope you & yours are all well. Everyone just seemed to disappear from the last forum we were on. Eventually found my way here and there was Andrew, and now you as well - great stuff!
I’ve read a couple of news reports regarding the new timeline etc. If they did kill Madeleine and then went for a meal, that would be unbelievably callous. Mind you, for callous behaviour, Amanda “Foxy Knoxy” Knox (arrested for the murder or Meredith kercher in Italy) seems to be one of the most callous people I’ve heard of.
I’d seen reports that it’s actually 4 of the McCanns’ friends who wish to change their statements. Clarence Mitchell is quoted as saying that he has spoken to all the friends and they all deny it. Initially it was reported that they wanted to keep their names quiet for fear of reprisals/pressure. Maybe that’s why they denied to it Mitchell. I’d want to hear the denials direct from them, not via him, before I believed it.
A great deal depends on what they change doesn’t it, and the reasons for changing and the reasons for telling the truth in the first place. If they have lied, I suppose the longer it goes on the harder it is to admit to the lie. Maybe they’ve reached a point whereby they realised the old adage : when you’re in a hole, stop digging. Maybe they decided to stop before the hole became too deep for them to climb out. Two of the friends named as wanting to change their statements are Tanner and O’Brien. I imagine the most potentially damaging changes could come from Tanner and Oldfield. She due to the sighting of the man witgh a bundle and he for his check - just before G. McCann’s 21.05 check wasn’t it? - where he didn’t go in the aprtment, then he did.
The texts are a hard one - seeing as he’s a doctor could he be keeping in touch with work regarding his patients? Seems a lot in one night I suppose there be about 27 - 28 texts in all, assuming he’s asking, & responding to, questions.

Kris, thank you for your kind words. I’ll try to keep a level perspective on this unfortunate case and keep my mind open to reasonable possibilities.
It will be interesting which of the McCanns’ friends change their testimoney if, indeed any do.
I believe Jane Tanner and Russel O’Brien have been named as two that wish to do so, although the total is rumoured to be four people. If it is Tanner, it could be very interesting if she makes major changes to her previous evidence considering she claims to have seen a male at a time & place where G. McCann & Wilkins were, yet didn’t see them or they her. It would also beg the question as to why she should be believed this time, having significantly changed her evidence once already. I wonder if it was a well meant but ill advised attempt to bolster claims of abduction? Of course, there is always the possibility that she lied as part of a rehearsed and co-ordinated cover up.
I wonder if the friends have been threatened with perjury, obstruction or similar charges by the police, and this is their last opportunity to state the truth or risk being co-accused?

In our local paper today, a mother was given a four-month curfew and 100 hours of unpaid community work because she left her nine year old daughter alone. She was deemed to have failed as a parent and was charged on one count of causing an act of cruelty .
Fortunately for the child, she was found wandering at 1.30 am and picked up by police officers . The mother said she only “intended to leave the house for five minutes” .

And, if there was a sex party, who was present? Specifically, was Madeleine present? I have to assume, Tony, that you are speculating (or you have been told this by your infomant?) that Madeleine WAS present during such a party — otherwise where was she, and how did she become ill/injured?
According to this speculation, either she was present but not participating (perhaps in another room) or the sex involved acts of paedophilia. The latter case would greatly increase the motive for disposing of the body — not only would sedatives and cause of death be revealed, but also evidence of sexual abuse.
This has been my suspicion for some time, and it is a little intriguing to see you brining up (obliquely) this possibility just after telling us that you have had special information from someone about the tennis activity fabrications and, as you noted, other details you have not disclosed to us.

concerning the 14 McTexts: The Sun and other papers write that the PJ’s requests “for the McCanns’ mobile phone records are among a series of letters of appeal drawn up by the Portuguese police. But the public prosecutor Jose Magalhaese Meneses has refused to give his approval for the letters to be sent to British authorities until he sees stronger evidence against the couple.”
What does that mean? Where is the record of the text messages supposed to be? On GM’s mobile and probably deletetd by now
or in the “archive” of the phone company? A British phone company?
When a Bristish mobile is used in Protugal it works via a Portuguese mobile phone net, doesn’t it? So why write a letter of appeal to the British authorities?
