Madeleine McCann: 100 Questions And José Cunha de Magalhães e Meneses Says
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – POLICE: WE HAVE 100 QUESTIONS FOR THE McCANNS”
Paulo Rebelo, new head of the “hunt for missing Madeleine”, has drawn up a list of 100 questions. Whether this list is fixed or likely to grow to, says, 105 or 106 questions is unspeculated upon
“The 100 questions are believed to cover in minute detail how the events of May 3 unfolded from early that day until the McCanns reported Madeleine missing around 10.40pm”
100 questions…
Page 10: “Witness confirms Madeleine ‘seen in Bosnia village’” – an Irish pilgrim says he saw Madeleine. And now “local shop assistant Marina Dugandzic, 39, backs up the story
She saw Madeleine?
Says Marina: “He did not mention the name of Maddie McCann or tell us his name. However, he said that he had seen someone pushing a little girl into a black VW Golf with Bosnian number plates. Our colleague Monika Pandza, an English language professor, translated his words”
Nothing lost in translation, we hope
THE SUN page 25: “100 QUESTIONS – Maddie cops’ bid to grill McCanns again”
It’s part of a ‘letter of appeal’ that police want to send to the British Authorities. “Under Portuguese law, such a plea is a formal request asking for interviews, and accompanies details of the evidence”
A source tells a Portuguese newspaper: “If a body doesn’t turn up, or somebody comes forward with a credible lead, we continue without any chance of closing the investigation”
Such is the news
DAILY MAIL page 27: “Maddie’s parents ‘have 100 questions to answer’”
The questions are being blocked by Portimao District Attorney José Cunha de Magalhães e Meneses, who is less than certain there is good case against the McCanns
And the police in Portugal are awaiting the results of substances sent to the Forensics Science Service in Birmingham
DAILY STAR page 15: “MADDIE PARENTS FACING 100 QUESTIONS”
Police also want to “seize” the couple’s laptop and Bible
DAILY MIRROR page 20: “McCann officers hit a wall”
No, not more awful Portuguese police driving. Just a source saying police have no new leads
THE TIMES: “Meredith or Madeleine: it’s trial by media”
Magnus Linklater manages to link the disappearance of Madeleine McCann to the brutal murder of Meredith Kercher in Italy
“Neither case, however, has demonstrated the two prerequisites of a just legal process: an unbiased police inquiry and the presentation of untainted evidence in court,” says he
Those Italians… Those Portuguese…. And:
“In Portugal, the so-called code of secrecy has resulted in the deliberate manipulation of evidence. Sheltering behind the law, officials have briefed favoured journalists, allowing a barrage of damning allegations to be unleashed against Madeleine’s parents. With little or no hard proof to sustain the charges, they have nevertheless turned a supposedly objective criminal investigation into an exercise in character assassination. The Portuguese authorities may argue that they are simply responding to accusations from the British media that they have botched the inquiry, but that is hardly justification for distorting the evidence”
Anyone seen the boy who killed Rhys Jones? Those British…
“Madeleine McCann detectives barred from reinterviewing parents” - José Cunha de Magalhães e Meneses, he says ‘No”
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 11: “Police draw up list of questions for McCanns”
Detectives have asked to re-interview the so-called Tapas Nine
“New analysis of the evidence has only confirmed suspicions that exist but nothing more,” a police source tells Portuguese daily newspaper 24 Horas. “There is no new data despite new operations being carried out in field”
Says Clarence Mitchell: “Kate and Gerry have nothing to hide and we hope they will be cleared as soon as possible”
JAVNO, Croatia: “Media Circus and Murder of Madeleine McCann - In the past six months the media have thrown Maddie McCann down stairs, drowned her in the sea, killed and resurrected her in Medjugorje”
THE GUARDIAN and THE INDEPENDENT: No Madeleine new today

What was their “proof”? Did either you or Stevo find it convincing?

Yet another inappropriate personal insult from Kris. She is apparently incapable of sustaining an argument without calling people names, and attacking them, rather than addressing the discussion points. Should have been banned from this site long ago.

Do you actually have a point you wish to make, or are you just firing out random un-constructed comments?

short correction:
Matt, I then read your later post in which you have “up to 6 months or longer” to ID a corpse. Your point take. But my point about so-called “ruling out” BG=MM without DNA evidence is the same. The BG body was not said to be badly decomposed. Shouldn’t we hear something about when they expect a DNA analysis finished?

“Already have [shown that IDing a corpse takes 6 months]….yesterday and today. Please see 301.”
That anecdotal story is interesting, but provides no information at all on what caused the delay in that particular case. The body was said to be “badly decomposed”, whereas the body of BG was apparently NOT badly decomposed.
And I’ve heard nothing about on what basis the BG=MM was “ruled out” by someone — was this just a preliminary guess based on estimated age, or estimated time of death? Was it by blood type?
I find it absurd that we were told BG=MM has been “ruled out” without hearing exactly on what basis this determination could be made.

kris,
we all have opinions about things here. all includes stevo, you and i and everyone else posting. we would not be normal otherwise. each is entitled to their opinions.
stevo has a hypothesis about BG possibly being MM. he wants to see if it breaks. if it breaks we close the door and move on to some other hypotheses knowing we have truly tested one which didn’t hold up . just because stevo does not want to give this one away until it is proven or broken does not make him wrong. stevo’s decision point on the MG issue is different from yours, mike h’s et al. you all have a prerogative to pursue these sorts of issues until you reach a decision point with which you are satisfied. frankly i can’t recall having seen any real debate on this issue recently. just name calling and people “telling” other people why they are right. your criterion for closing this issue differs from others. telling people this issue is “closed” is misleading when you know full well some people will only close this when they have heard DNA has settled it. perhaps an IMO would be appropriate
i don’t believe it was necessary to establish contact with stevo’s source so you can have your own line to the BG task force. to what avail? so you can be first to say “I told you so” if / when the DNA confirmation comes thru advising BG is not MM. me, i’ll just wait for stevo to let us know the outcome in due course. i have other things to do.
personally, the BG issue leaves me cold. i have a wheelie mouse which is great for getting past stuff you are not interested in. quick scan and skim past.
i think we should all have wheelie mice.
as i said previously i don’t think stevo is right on this one but i don’t set out to attack him on his point of view. i would love to be proved wrong but i don’t think it will happen.
many others posting here think there is a possibility BG = MM. stevo is not alone. neither are you and mike h etc.
just because we don’t agree on this doesn’t mean we can’t co-operate. i sent stevo the latest mirror forum link the other day in which someone claims to have proven the final photo of maddie is a fake. i know stevo feels strongly about this.
i remember a pretty vitriolic exchange amongst stevo and some others few weeks ago. i can’t recall all the parties but i do remember stevo being “visibly” upset. i thought it was pretty poor attacking someone based on a personal family circumstance. it does look like the reason behind this personal attack has gone away as it has not resurfaced. long may this continue.
let’s try and find out what happened to MM and possibly influence the final outcome.
as for me. i was a pro mccann until i discovered this sight. i watched and became a fence sitter. the arguments of the debaters, circumstantial evidence and behaviours of the MC’s, have caused me to come down on one side of the fence. the side i am one says MM was probably not abducted and, in all likelihood, is probably dead.
imo, if MM was not abducted, her parents have a pretty damn good idea what happened on or around 3rd may even if they were not actively responsible for her demise. imho, if MM was abducted, there is absolutely no doubt about the MC’s culpability in MM’s demise because of their manifest negligence in looking after her and the twins.
if you want people to participate in these discussions it is sometimes best to adopt the stance that there is no such thing as a stupid idea. people contribute if they are not shot down. we want contributors here, not destroyers. well I do anyway.
have a chill pill. stay cool. “c” “u” 2morrow.
btw, i do read your postings even if i don’t always agree with them.

448- Stevo- You disingenous jerk. You knew perfectly well that Thea was referring to the night when I mentioned your daughter with Turners Syndrome and you lost your lid. It just goes to prove how very dishonest you are.
November 15th, 2007 at 4:29 am
980- Stevo- So I went and looked at the link about what “my bad” means, and was curious because you said it was not what I meant. But it was just what I said: An admission to an opponent that you were wrong. Which is precisely what I did, saying, “my bad,” when I obviously misread your statement about the 60 days. What’s funny about you, you can’t even take an apology or a “mea culpa” (see previous conversation re: your daughter with Turners Syndrome). Chill out, mate. Just because I think you’re an idiot doesn’t mean everyone here agrees with me! They are right , insofar as you are entitled to go tilting at windmills after your own “research.” If I think you look like a fool doing it, well that’s my issue, isn’t it?
November 15th, 2007 at 4:22 am
1084- Tinsel - It has been reported several places that the “bloody footprints” were in fact NOT bloody and were, in fact, from the foot of a forensic investigator. In other words, the “bloody footprints” were one more piece of false information in the papers.
November 15th, 2007 at 4:21 am
IMO, they are off the hook..unless they spill the beans of course…AHHHH wouldn’t it be so nice if they confessed..
November 15th, 2007 at 4:20 am
so what’s going on w/ the Mccanns’ ???? Please type 1 if you think they are guilty..my response: 1 I also think they know Madeleine’s body will never be found

1107- Taybie. Now THAT is an excellent post.
I’m actually intrigued by the possibility that (was it Clarkeson who proposed this?) we’re actually given a lot of clues to what really happened in the precise phrasing of the McCanns in public… “not there the moment she was taken,” etc. Because on the one hand it seems so glaringly obvious that the McCanns are hiding something and acting in a manner that is completely over-the-top unnatural. On the other hand, I can’t even in my wildest dreams imagine anything so gutsy as the smokescreen they appear to have created to coverup their daughter’s death if they were the ones who committed the Act Of Death Itself — nor can I even imagine a couple in some kind of loss/grief/fear (or some combination of those three) maintaining such a fine acting job. There simply has to be some other element we don’t know yet…. Which would bring us to what Clarkeson suggests, or even The Third Way. I really do think we are missing some chunks of this story, and that is why the DNA doesn’t quite make sense, that is why their behavior doesn’t make sense, etc….
November 15th, 2007 at 1:43 am
Actually, I think Judith C’s most recent post is remarkably shallow. And Portia’s post is downright silly. As if people were more moral back before people’s minds opened to something beyond Christiantiy?? As if the so-called Dark Ages — when Christendom reigned — was a moral period of our human history? Give me a break. More wrongs have been done in the name of Christ, and in the name of Allah, certainly than in the name of Satan himself (or herself, take your pick).
I also find it absolutely hilarious that people are trying to paint these broad, vivid strokes with their moral paintbrushes… over a simple case of a missing child. I mean, come on, people… if you want to have some righteous indignation, if you want some situations that show the decline of the entire Western Culture (not just Britain, not just the USA) I’m quite sure you could find much more pertinent examples.
November 15th, 2007 at 1:25 am
1086 Judith,
Like Portia, I think your comments are very perceptive. I wonder if Britain is much different in these respects compared to four decades or so ago (we left in the 60’s)? I questioned an author here (Irish Canadian) about the notable changes that had taken place in that country in recent decades, which probably mirror those in Britain.
In sum, there would appear to have been a notable rise in (trying to use the right descriptive language) in what might be called a middle class materialistic mindset; the sense of belonging to a larger community/society at large is no longer. Those of the working class are shunned in a way they were not in decades past. The nouveaux riche and material possessions have a cache that did not exist to the same degree in the past. The “get with it,” social climbing, urban trendies are in; working class culture is “out,” so to speak.
Anyway, I think that is an approximate description of the picture drawn by the author in question of modern-day Ireland (Dublin, anyway). It is probably applicable to Britain. I suspect I would find it quite a changed country were I to live there again after all these years.
Sorry to digress so much from the main topic, the McCanns, but there is some relevance in this, I think.
November 15th, 2007 at 12:47 am
989 and others: have any of the IT experts on here looked into the genesis for this website? Whilst I can’t disagree with its premise, it does seem to be aimed at dealing with the aftermath of, rather than the cause of, abduction.
November 15th, 2007 at 12:36 am
1086. Judith C.
If you are still out there, that was a great post. You’re so right about class no longer counting. To the media, it’s all about having money and being a celebrity.
And for the other posters who have been talking about the dark forces, it’s very simple. For ages, Europe has been building up or tearing down Christendom. The result is the Age of Mammon. It will remain until the end of time, IMHO.

Don’t you ever get the feeling that there is still a missing piece in the jigsaw, I mean something that hasn’t really been mooted yet? What if the McCanns really weren’t there at the time Maddy was taken, but they have a good idea who it was but daren’t say? That would explain the campaign (i.e. let’s go for max publicity and hope someone else finds her or stumbles on the truth) and also why the Tapas 7 hid (allegedly) on 3 May rather than venturing out? And why the searching has always been delegated to others. Could this sinister force extend to planting DNA and cadaver evidence, and nobbling things within the PJ and/or over here?
No, probably not, I’m just thinking out loud as Clarkeson sometimes does. Just that whatever happened, many many people have been fooled and we still don’t seem to be anywhere near the truth.
On that note I will bid you goodnight.
