the PJ should have been more thorough with the questioning of Murat and his connections, we are just going round and around in circles, if the PJ / investigators know that Murat was involved in one way or another then they must make a move now while the iron id hot and not give him a chance to get away with this crime.

I think portugese police and private investigaters (as well as secret services) are working closely together in this case.
The portugese police has no other choice than to cooperate. There must be a way left for them to save their face in case Maddie is found alive, even if they consider this case unlikely. I think it will be part of the political deal between the portugese and the UK government that Portugal may have its share of the merit when the case is solved, regardless what the solution may ever be.

All I can say is, heaven help whoever was ANYWHERE near Praia da Luz around the time Madeleine went “missing” …. you may just be next to have been “sighted” carting Madeleine away from the resort!
It takes SIX MONTHS for someone to realise that they saw Murat’s girlfriend handing Madeleine over to “someone” …. what a joke!

finding the “kidnapper” be headlined across Newspapers are being helpful to the case, to Madeleine, and to the Portugal Police ???
I wouldn’t like them “searching” for my daughter, or be content about her subsequent safety, under those circumstances.

The PJ has a deal with spanish private investigators (Metodo3) who:
a) have never investigated cases of missing chlidren (check their website)
b) are by law prevented from investigating in Portugal
Just in case they find Madeleine alive?

And BTW could you explain the strategy behind MEtodo 3 coming out to the press everytime they have any information about possible sightings? Is it Bosnia, Spain, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and now again Portugal? Is it to help the alleged abductor?

It’s meant to put pressure on somebody. This somebody’s phone is now tapped by the portugese police, the person itself observed by private investigators.
Leaking information has been practised by the PJ to put pressure on the McCanns. Now it’s a similar strategy on somebody else.

All this humbug is just an insult to the public who are reading the newspapers. Why do the McCanns and their “helpers” insist on making themselves look more and more idiotic by the day? Just by reading this forum, they must surely have realised that people are not all mindless idiots? And as far as libel goes, do they have enough evidence to name this German woman (girlfriend of Murat)?
Poor Madeleine. I am beginning to think, more and more by the day, that Baby Grace may be her. Why has she not been identified yet? Are the Americans now in a difficult position?

If the investigators are that close to finding maddie they should keep their head down !!!!! mouth shut!!! and not let the supposed abductors know how close they are.Theylet information out,and if maddie is alive,they will go far,far underground she willnever be found.But with a 2 million plus reward imo someone,somewhere even in a peodo ring someone would give her up, thats a lot of dosh.

If I were one of the friends, and knew something, I think I would lay my cards on the table now, even if it implicated me, because the alternative might be to live in fear for ever more. It is not a life to fear crossing a road, to fear the darkness of the night, to fear being alone.

Do you find it as strange as I do, that all press released regarding Baby Grace have come to a dead-stop (think the last one was over a week ago). I suspect that they have actually discovered who Baby Grace is, but for unknown reasons at this moment, cannot release her identity. I smelt a rat from the beginning regarding Baby Grace vs Madeleine, and that rat is becoming smellier by the day!

Yes…Julie….Personally I doubt very much that BG is Madeleine.
But, I must admit to some concerns about lack of transparency.
A poster yesterday noted that he was watching a (I think American)
TV programme which was covering the BG case.
The poster said that the Presenter was discussing the possibilities
of who BG could be. The Presenter talked about 3 possibilities and
read about each one from separate pages of notes. However, the
poster said that ther were 4 pages of notes and the 4th was kept
under the other 3….and never commented upon. Odd.

I have been thinking the same thing. I thought that the Americans were supposed to be top notch at investigating missing children, as Gerry’s visits to the US are supposed to have revealed. And I do definitely think that the American forensic experts are more than capable of being able to obtain a reliable DNA sample from the child’s body by now. They only need to compare it with Madeleine’s DNA and then a straightforward answer could be given. But no! The mystery remains, we remain in suspense. How dare our leaders talk about transparency? What hypocrites! The word should be banished from the dictionary because in practice it doesn’t exist!

I must say that the lack of news about BG is even more astounding to me, as when I first watched a video of the Police Chief (Ray Tutom….) who was investigating, he seemed as if he would stop at nothing to find the identity of BG. That is why I have deepest suspicions that he has actually discovered her identity, and with this discovery there is more to BG than can be revealed. I also believe that there is a $20 000 reward been offered by the FBI! (Now to me that’s even more interesting) I don’t know how the FBI operate, but are they normally inclined to offer HUGE rewards in a case like this?
Matt, what you say about the TV programme and the 4th page is also going to make for some interesting disucssion!

Could someone explain to me the following inconsistencies or -how shall i put it… lies:
1) Metodo 3 have said that they were absolutely sure the girl was in the Rif Mountains in Morocco. Gerry said it was very likely she was being held in Spain. Philomena has suggested that Metodo 3 are investigating in Saudi Arabia. Now it appears the girl has been seen in Portugal (after Morocco, Belgium, Bosnia etc.).
2) Gerry said to Sky and Times on 26 May “We didn’t see anything suspicious”. In October it occurs to Gerry that maybe there was an abductor hiding in the room when he went to check on Madeleine, and on 18 November, Gerry says: “I’m 100% sure we were being watched”.
3) Gerry and Kate McCann have asked a friend to keep a Video Diary of them just weeks after Madeleine disappeared? Is this calculating, sick or the natural reaction of a couple who have their daughter abducted? You chose.
4) The McCanns confirm that they would take a lie-detection test if they need to to prove their innocence. Newspaper 24 Horas challenges them to take the lie test in October - but they refuse. In November Clarence Mitchell allegedly contacts a polygraph organisation with demands he wants to see satisified before they take the lie test, and once these have not been satisfied, Clarence Mitchell says they will not take the lie test.
5) Days after Kate McCanns interview by the PJ (when she claimed she was offered a deal), her lawyer was quick to come out and say that it was a misunderstanding and that nobody has been offered any deal (which simply is not possible in the Portuguese legal system). Why he did this? Because anyone with knowledge of POrtugal’s legal system knows this is impossible, and in claiming so, Kate McCann would be hindering her credibility. Was this really a misunderstanding or was Kate McCann finding ways to further discredit the PJ’s investigation?
I’m sure that as Gerry always claims, there are plenty of innocent explanations for all this… but why is it that with Gerry and Kate we are always talking about “having to explain odd things”?

I know that lie detector tests are not admissible in the courts of many countries. But if I wanted to prove my credibility and knew I was innocent, I’d as sure as goodness take the test. If it indicated that I’d lied when in fact I knew that I’d told the truth, I’d merely say, “Well, I’ve given it a go, and obviously lie detector tests aren’t reliable”. I think that people would be more inclined to believe I’d told the truth if I went along this path. But the McCanns won’t even give it a try. Do they believe in the reliability of the tests rather more than most of us do?
