Madeleine McCann: More DNA, The Maddy Teddy And The Family McCann
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “Madeleine: Police send new evidence for forensic tests”
Page 7: “POLICE SEND NEW FORENSIC EVIDENCE FROM MCCANN APARTMENT AFTER 230 DAYS”
DNA “thought to have come from the holiday apartment where Madeleine was last seen” is on its way to the Forensic Science Service laboratory in Birmingham
More pressure on “GP Kate and heart consultant Gerry” – Such are the facts
“TEDDY TRIBUTE” – Eileen McCann, Madeleine’s grandmother, is to place a “large pink teddy with a white heart on it” in Madeleine McCann’s bedroom as a Christmas gift. How do we know this?
“QUIZ DELAYED” – The McCanns will not face Portuguese police before Christmas. Says McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “It is true we are pleased that the Christmas period won’t be interrupted for Kate and Gerry”
But won’t the investigation then be delayed?
DAILY MAIL: “Kate and Gerry McCann are spared police questioning ‘until after Christmas’”
Says Clarence Mitchell: “However, we are keen for the process to be completed as soon as possible. No one has anything to hide”
Eileen McCann is talking to Hello! magazine, rival showbiz magazine to OK!, the organ from the Daily Express table. There is no mention of Hello! in the Express.
Gerry McCann’s sister Philomena McCann adds: “Nobody’s been talking about Christmas, we just want it to pass. Even mentioning the word feels terrible. There was always loads of food, laughter and games. She’d love to play with her cousins Paul, Fiona and Gregor”
Readers are shown a picture of Madeleine with her cousins
“We’d organise horse-races - with Gerry and me as the horses. The younger children would climb on our backs and we’d race around the living room”
Such are the facts
THE SUN page 19: “GRAN’S TOY HEARTBREAK – Xmas gift on Maddie’s bed..huge pink teddy bear with white heart”
The Maddy Teddy
“DISTRAUGHT Eileen McCann has told of the special gift she has waiting for missing grand-daughter Maddie — a big pink teddy bear. Eileen, 67, will place the toy on Maddie’s bed — while praying the youngster WILL return home”
And: “Kate’s mum Susan Healy, 61, and husband Brian, 67, from Liverpool, are also dreading Christmas”
Madeleine McCann is missing. The parents are suspects. But the Sun wants to keep its readers thinking of paedophiles. As it reports: “POLICE in Portugal are hunting a man who tried to grab a girl of nine in Charneca, 300 miles from Praia da Luz”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADDY LAST CHRISTMAS”
Page 11: “OUR LAST CHRISTMAS” – Madeleine McCann is in Hello! magazine, that bastion of excellence in investigative journalism. Readers learn that last Christmas Madeleine wore a pink party dress
DAILY STAR page 27: “COPS FIND NW DNA CLUE IN MADDIE FLAT – Crack British team to do forensic tests”
Specks of this and that are on their way to Birmingham. But no mention of the McCanns appearing in Hello!. The Daily Star is published by the same stable that brings us the Daily Express and OK!. Can business rivalries be impacting upon the news of the missing girl?
THE GUARDIAN, THE INDEPENDENT, THE TELEGRAPH and THE TIMES: No Madeleine news today

from the daily mail
“We’d play other daft games, too. Madeleine loved singing along to Fiona’s karaoke machine, chasing Gregor’s remote-controlled cars all over the room. It was hilarious.
Fiona, who’s Johnny’s daughter, is 11 now, she’d look after the little ones.”

They are trying to make us forget that the parents were responsible for Mdeleine not having much fun this Chrismas.
Also they can say they are releasing a new picture of Madeleine - but we reminded that there are incredibly few pictures from their holiday week. Because they were hardly with their ‘beloved’ daughter? Because they needed a break from their children? Because there was little time spent with any of their children? Because Madeleine wasnt there for long enough? Who knows!
They’d race around the living room with the kids on their backs? Filmabucket and the joker McCann? What a horrendous though - one hopes they didnt have to many breakables!
December 19th, 2007 at 8:23 am
If they are trying to curry sympathy for the fact that they are to spend a Christmas without Madeleine, I think that horse is too well flogged. There are other poor families in as bad - or worse - a situation and besides which, the tide of public opinion has become distinctly anti and somewhat jaded now. What about Rhys Jones family for starters ?

How convenient, babysitters. A bit older at home though, 11 instead of 4. I wonder how ‘hilarious’ Madeleine is finding it this christmas. Why dont they shut up.
December 19th, 2007 at 8:28 am
Or that poor mother and son whos brother and husband were wiped of a rock in a wave?
Or the woman who was found dead in a cave’s family?

good morning
I know, they never learn do they?
and shes 11 NOW not when that photo was taken!
I mean having an 11 year old keep an eye on younger kids in another room ( depending off course on the girl) is quite acceptable…..
but she was only 9 and there were 3 under 2s !!
December 19th, 2007 at 8:35 am
Jeez the thought of Philomena McCann on all fours ,kids on her back, she would have a heart attack!!!! but having a heart consultant on hand is helpful.the mind boggles.

Mornign all - a few have consistently accused the PJ of incompetence for letting Murat act as a translator BEFORE he was made suspect. I wonder what the British consul and Norfolk police will have to say to this?
Any thoughts why the great british press has failed to research this issue? Or even publish anything about it?
“18.12.07
Murat recommended as translator by British diplomatic staff
Staff from Bill Henderson’s office suggested the name of Robert Murat as a reliable translator who could be used in the police inquiry, the days following Madeleine McCann disappearance. Murat was already known among diplomatic staff, as he had recommendation letters from Norfolk Police, where he worked for Bernard Matthews, one of the largest poultry farm companies in UK, which employs hundreds of Portuguese workers. The fact that Robert Murat has acted, before, as translator for Norfolk Police, and the recommendation issued by Bill Henderson’s office, at the time the British consul in Algarve, took police to accept the suggestion, according to PJ sources. After Murat was named a formal suspect, Police went through all translations he has done, checking its accuracy, but no problem was found, according to the same sources. Bill Henderson retired from his diplomatic post and went back to UK in August.”

Apparently she is NOW 11 so she was only 10 then so they really don’t care in who’s charge they leave the children
..and yes, what about all those other tragic losses recorded during the year and overshadowed by this escalating journalistic monstrosity ? what about the poor chap whose daughter killed herself in front of a train then his wife promptly did the same thing ?

In today’s CM Mr Jose Manuel Anes (who was (mis) quoted by the daily mail explains that):
Only answers to 2 of 4 questions put to him were published and that the Daily Mail has distorted his statements.
The statement claiming “that you could spend millions in the investigation, but if the forensic samples were damaged or polluted will jeoparside the success of the investigation”. This was a general statement about criminal investigations and he did not for one moment suggested that there had been failures in the collection of the samples by the Pj. But the Daily Mail - with the precious help of clarence mitchell spins it to suggest that Mr Anes was criticising the investigation.
Interstingly the Daily Mail failed to publish the following statement:
“os McCann têm uma culpa fundadora, moral, por abandonarem os filhos – e há um lóbi familiar poderoso e influente que condicionou a informação”
Free Translation “The McCanns are fundamentally, morally guilty of abandoning their children - and they have a powerful lobby linked to their family that “conditions” information”.
Does anyone - those staunch defenders of the great british press - still care to comment?
December 19th, 2007 at 8:53 am
Well… a pink faffing teddy with a big white heart on it.
That’ll help.
Yeah.
Why don’t they just come clean, as a special Christmas present for their missing daughter?
Anyway, I thought she was going to be home for Christmas, for sure, because that’s what a £50K/month money laundering operation buys you.
I hope everyone involved in this case gets exactly what they deserve.

8 brandon flours…
Well, they thought it was just fine to leave a three-year old in charge of twin two-year olds… so leaving a 9-year old in charge is by comparison a paragon of responsibility!!!
Auntie Phil playing horsie, though, that does make me laugh.
December 19th, 2007 at 8:59 am
I’m getting irritated now….just reading the description of their Christmas and the “hilarious” things they did, for one - they do not strike me as a family who ‘do’ hilarity and secondly, do they think that we poor lesser mortals don’t do anything like that ? anyone with young kiddies in the house does the same “hilarious ” things for about the first hour after opening pressies and then settle back with the mince pies to watch re-runs of ” The Grinch” ( used to be “White Christmas” ) and the kids just get on with it, usually in the same room and usually under the watchful eye of all adults present.
“..always loads of food, laughter and games ” so ? All of a sudden, these people who didn’t actually want their kids anywhere near them on holiday, left them alone regularly at night, in a foreign country and so on are trying to make out that their Christmases were akin to something out of “The Waltons” !!

Yeah, it’s like a little storybook about family life written by someone who’s never experienced it.
Remember the “House of Love” just after they high-tailed it out of Portugal?
Nauseating stuff.

“conditions information” what a lovely translation of “spin” or “attempting to control the facts”!
December 19th, 2007 at 9:07 am
Today’s description of the McCanns past Christmas is not only unecessary and unwanted. It’s also utterly insulting.
These disgusting people keep calling public attention upon themselves, away from the investigation into what happened to Madeleine McCann who they supposedly believe still to be alive and possibly kept by a paedophile ring.
These people - all of them - make me feel sick. (and I’m a bloody swinger…)
Anyone anywhere that still thinks this people are normal decent parents should stop for a moment and have a very thorough assessment of his / her own mental condition.

The McCanns and Goverment - “She loves the colour pink. I have a huge pink teddy bear with a white heart on it - a gift to her from the Scottish Government. I’m going to put it in her bedroom later.” http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=503303&in_page_id=1770 While as a Scot I applaude this magmanimous guesture I do ask with many on this forum if teh Scottish Govenment is similarly playing Santa Claus to all the families that have been visited by tragedy this year or only to the fragrant couple?
December 19th, 2007 at 9:12 am
There are four parties who know, with some precision and exactitude, what really happened to Madeleine McCann.
They are:
1. The Suspects. “Find the body and prove we did it.”
2. Some Tapas7. The Rat-Pack of Silence.
3. Mitchell. “Madeleine is (probably) dead.”
4. The Policiara Judiciara.
To the latter only, Christmas Greetings. God rest ye merry, Gentlemen.
December 19th, 2007 at 9:13 am
Just been reading headline’s from prevoius day’s & somthing pop’s in my head, that being if Maddie was abducted and the abducter walked in thru the patio door’s then went out of the window with her under his arm,why not just open the front door and walk out.?!!!!This would , IMO look better than scrambling out of a window, when any one walking past could see him?!!!!!!!!! The DR’S did not use the grey matter when planning this alledged ABDUCTION. all IMO

Why is is the McCanns are keeping Madeleine in the news when CM wanted less intrusion?

Morning all,
It does seem to be generally accepted (foreign office, Clarrie et al) that the re-questioning IS going to happen.
Pleeze, pleeeeeeeze would you all refrain from mentioning Gerry’s sister on all fours! I only have six days to erase the image if I’m going to enjoy xmas lunch!!

Gerry’s ugly sister Philomena McCann: “We’d organise horse-races - with Gerry and me as the horses. The younger children would climb on our backs and we’d race around the living room.”
This sort of activity was ORGANISED? What a family. You can tell it happened rarely, maybe once, if at all.
Still, the McCann family has made progress. From the humble beginnings of organising horse races, they have evolved into a family that organises abductions by paedophiles.
December 19th, 2007 at 9:26 am
Sobering thought. The avalanche of observational doubts raised by forums like this has all been done without access to actual evidence – of forensics and statement discrepancies etc. etc. Just think what the PJ must have. Endgame approaches.
December 19th, 2007 at 9:26 am
Morning all (albeit briefly).
These people are just plain daft (well, maybe not if they’e going to get away with some kind of crime). But really, pink teddies, Aunty Phil playing horses … We’re now getting into the realms of kitsch and bad taste (or they are).
