Madeleine McCann: The Case Against Robert Murat And Kirsty Young Says
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
THE SUN front page: “Murat ‘in clear’ on Maddie”
Can it be that Robert Murat is no longer a suspect – and with “NINE” witnesses challenging the “oddball’s” alibi (see Sun yesterday)?
(This is “Murat” as the paper has him, rather than Robert. The McCanns remain Kate and Gerry)
As the Sun reminds readers: “The one-eyed oddball was the first suspect, or arguido, in the hunt for the missing four-year-old”
Tomorrow will be exactly eight months since Madeleine McCann disappeared, and Robert Murat is then legally entitled to ask the police what case they have against him”. The Sun says if there is insufficient evidence against him, then his official suspect status “could” be lifted”
Which means he might be in the clear, as the headline says. Or not
Page 9: “PUT UP OR SHUT UP SAYS MURAT” –
His lawyer Francisco Pagarete tells us: “After eight months that is the end of the inquiry. He must be either accused or advised of the suspicions against him. If they postpone the deadline they will have to tell us why. The public prosecutor either accuses him or doesn’t. And that is what I am hoping will happen. We have not had any communications from the police since August. Obviously they have already cleared Robert, it is just a question of the deadline”
Obviously…
More facts: “Gerry McCann, of Rothley Leics, will return full time to his £75,000-a-year job as a hospital consultant cardiologist from tomorrow”
DAILY STAR: “’CHARGE ME OR LET ME GO NOW’”
“Robert Murat is about to learn if he will be charged or cleared over the disappearance of Madeleine McCann”
Or not – the police may ask for an extension
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE: Revealed, the police files on suspect Murat”
Or not. Robert Murat has yet to see the police files on him
“He has not had any contact with the Policia Judiciaria or the Portuguese Judiciary since August. In the meantime he has been unable to work or even see his five-year-old daughter, who lives with his ex-wife in Britain”
Why not? “Hospital consultant” Gerry is returning to work. He has seen his other children
“A total of eight people now claim to have seen him near the McCanns’ apartment on the night that Madeleine vanished”
Or nine, if you read the facts in the Sun
DAILY MIRROR: “Maddy’s dad back full time”
“Gerry McCann is going back to work. What does he do for a living? Why, he is a “consultant cardiologist”…
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 11: “Crimewatch is not dumbing down, says Young”
It’s Kirsty Young, the new presenter of BBC TV’s Crimewatch. She is in conversation with Good Housekeeping magazine
Says she: “A boy being shot riding his bicycle occupies the news for weeks because it’s so unusual. Madeleine McCann going missing preoccupies us all because it almost never happens that a girl is taken from her bed”
But you never know. Stay tuned…
DAILY MAIL: “’I'm not some leggy, pouty bird’ says Kirsty - as she flashes her legs”
More words on Madeleine McCann. A look at Young’s legs. Keep ‘em peeled…
THE INDEPENDENT: “BBC ageism a myth, says new face of ‘Crimewatch’”
Kirsty Young is 39. And blonde
THE TIMES and THE GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news

Happy belated New Year Matt and everyone else
Is it true that the individuals in this saga have been pencilled in for the remake of the Bond films?
Gerry – lead role as 003 (licensed to chill, size obviously reduced) in ‘Moneyraker’ and ‘The McCann with the Golden Gang’
Kate – supporting role as ‘Moneypenny’ or the part of Ursula Andress … and skirt … and blouse… and trousers … and earrings, but would also do a fine ‘Oddjob’ (whoosh/clunk and the hat’s gone!)
Jane – perfect as ‘Goldeneye’ (with her extra-sensory vision)
R O’B – ‘Blofeld’ (has the required silver hair and, when sitting down, no one would notice that he’s 8 feet tall), could also be Huge Drax and Emilio Large
‘Cuddle Cat’ – obviously Blofeld’s pet, ‘Octopussy’ (less obviously, he could play the part of Felix Leiter’)
Anti Phil – must be ‘Pussy Galore’ or Tiffany Cake
Robert Murat – starring or staring in ‘For Your Eye Only’ or ‘The Eye Who Loved Me’
Clarrie – lead role in/on ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Soapbox’
Metodo3 – seeking the lead role in ‘The World is Not Enough’
Rebelo – is ‘Le Chiefre inSPECTRE’
(Perhaps they should all do a remake of the first Bond film, ‘The Drs Know’ or ‘Lie Another Day’!)

Liked the “Story according to Dr G P” casting.
It might be just a teeny weeny weeny bit biased though, I think.

Tick tock….. So is January 14th likely to be the next significant day in this saga?

I thought that was the last day for any review to take place.
But our redoubtable Press seem to think that tomorrow is the day.
Think they might have erred….it doesn’t date from date of crime..rather
the date Arguido status was taken/given.

“Gerry McCann, of Rothley Leics, will return full time to his £75,000-a-year job as a hospital consultant cardiologist from tomorrow”
Dear Sir/Madam,
It is scandalous that in this day and age, and at this moment in time, when NHS patients are dying like flies from MRSA, that we can only afford to pay our cardiologist consultants a paltry £75 000 a year.
No wonder they are deserting our shining NHS and thinking of emigrating to third world countries like Portugal and New Zealand. I happen to know that this particular consultant has a non-working wife and family to support, and a talking parrot, which alone costs £75 000 a year in seed and nuts. How is he supposed to manage on this pittance?
Clearly, with mere GPs now on twice as much as this, Leicester NHS Trust will have to get its act together.
Signed,
“Disgusted”.

How many pictures are there of Madeleine holding her “favorite toy”, Cuddle Cat?
Lots of pictures of Kate holding it, but HOW MANY of Madeleine holding it?
January 2nd, 2008 at 9:10 am
Gerry replied, “I’m not going to comment on that,” swallowed hard, coughed, almost died with embarrassment, as he searched desperately for that hole to appear in the ground in front of him.
Was this in answer to the question about knowing Robert Murat? No, it was Gerry’s response to not being selected in the top 10 in the ‘Scot of the Year Award’!
Kate added, “Whoosh, clunk and it’s gone!”

It would appear that Cuddle Cat means more to Kate than anyone else. She certainly likes to keep it clean and likes to take it to work.

The reason I believe he seemed ‘hesitant’ on answering that question was because he knows (although hopeful she will be found) that his daughter being taken by a paedo and not being alive , is very much a reality.

Happy New Year to everyone! I had hoped that some consciences might have struggled during the Christmas and New Year period but they must be a ferociously tough bunch of individuals. If only we could know the connection between Murat and the McCanns, things might be a little more clear. I wonder if the McCanns and the other Tapas crowd can talk freely in their homes? Perhaps they have to whisper in the bathroom with the taps running just in case their houses are bugged! Imagine living a life like that? How do they manage it?

Garth
There’s no connection between answering the question - Did you know Murat - and knowing his daughter was likely to be dead.
Knowing or not knowing Murat doesn’t mean Murat did it, Murat is a paedo, or any paedo killed Madeleine.

Has everyone given up anorak for a new years resolution?
Happy 2008 everyone!!

Murat is a suspect. GM knows that. He also knows that he is not allowed to make ANY comment about any person connected to this case.
The hesitation IMO is purely the fact that the reality of her not being found alive hit home.

Ice-Cream Image:
To settle some of the “doubts” regarding a photo of Maddie eating an ice-cream, look at following video on You Tube. She is innocently eating an ice-cream with some other kids (3:06 min) … and later a zoom of that same shot (3:44 min), which was the image that attracted some “unpleasant” comments the other day!

Most of the time, there is an explanation for things that other people see as suspicious.

I discovered this website by chance and can only conclude from reading the feedback that you all seem to have more time on your hands than is good for you.
You are ALL the most repellent shocking utter scum I have had the misfortunate to come across. I earnestly hope that the New Year brings you ALL unhappiness and anguish on greater scale than that afflicting the McCann family at this time.
How inhuman can you be? Making amusement at the loss of a small child, the guilt the parents must feel for leaving this little girl alone must be tormenting. May you all rot in hell, it is a shame we live in such a democratic country with freedom of speech so readily available and utterly misused by morons like the contributors to this site if I had my way I would track each one of you down and have you flogged.

Gerry wasn’t a suspect and as far as we know has never said he saw Murat on that night - so I don’t think there was anything stopping him saying, no, or yes I saw him around, or yes his mother handed out leaflets.
I think Gerry either took it as an accusation of guilt by association, felt sorry for Mrs Murat who was handing out leaflets on their behalf, felt betrayed by Murat who was helping the search, knew Murat wasn’t guilty because they were, didn’t want to commit himself in case it ruined some other part of his story, or generally wont answer questions he doesn’t have a script for - or maybe we don’t know because we’re not mind readers?
