Thank you for the detailed explanation re IP, etc. It never crossed my mind for a second that Anorak would ever give out such information. What bothered me was for those who preferred to stay unknown on here for whatever reasons were at risk. I don’t care as I don’t use a phony name but I do respect those who want total privacy in what they have to say.

An IP address will NOT tell you an email address. It will tell you where in the world that computer is located but even this information is not entirely accurate. For instance, yesterday at work I checked my own IP address. This showed that I was posting to Anorak from a computer located just outside Berne in Switzerland. The truth was I was sitting in an office in Wolverhampton, England. The reason for this discrepancy? I was connected to the internet via a Proxy Server.

An IP address does not reveal anything about the name of the person using that computer. Nor does it reveal email addresses

The only way DR Watson could know anyone’s email address on this site would be if they themselves had sent him an email or submitted to a comment to another web site/forum under his control

However, even if someone on Anorak has emailed Dr Watson (so that he now has their email address) that does not not necessarily provide information to enable poster to be identified. Many people use different email addresses with different names. For instance couples may share an email address, such as bobandjane@XXXXX.com. One of those may be posting to Anorak using an Alias such as ‘wee willie winkie‘. There is no way, even for Admin/Mods to know whether ‘wee willie winkie’ is actually Bob or Jane.

Rest assured, Admin/Mods do NOT reveal a posters personal details to anyone else. As I said before, the only way Dr Watson (or anyone else) could know your IP/email address would be because you sent them an email or submitted a comment to another web site that they control (a point appreciated by another Anorak regular who was at pains to make clear after DR Watson’s threat that he was not Dr Watson!)

Below are further postings Dr. Watson made the other night after he made the statement to Jane he would expose her. This is what lead me to think and believe (there were other postings by other people who questioned him also) he has a way of gathering information on people who post on here.

Jane resorted to accusing anti-Mc. in Nazism, this is sickening and unacceptable and would justify outing.
And I never saw any problem with Stevo outing Dave s, it was fun. She disappeared and does not spoil the forum any more.

If you look at the last post by Jane, you will swiftly agree with me, I am sure.
Defending yourself against a bully is not bullying. I have means to defend myself against that poster. That’s all.
As a long standing poster, you know that do not bully people, I read Anorak for info and support, to find like-minded individuals who want truth and justice, who do not buy into media theories and Mitchells statements..

You deliberately took of context what Jane said and then you responded threatening to expose her real name, IP and email address. To prove my statement I searched the other night’s site and below is the statement made by Jane. At no time did she accuse you of being a Nazi.

The trump card will never need to be shown. The PJ will see to that! And light hearted it is. Just like all the other posts on here this evening. As for what the McCanns should be concerned about, that in itself is a joke. The McCanns have been dictated by the PJ’S inept detective skills. How long has it taken the PJ to reinterview the McCanns? Do you not think the McCanns want this pathetic trial by media over so the focus can continue in the search for their daughter? They need their names cleared to gain back the confidence of the public in general. And without the public on their side, who’s going to support them? Where’s the money going to come from? Without the finances the search is grounded.

many families have had children go missing, some even sell their homes to fund their search themselves. These people have received over a £m from a kind and caring public, and 8 months on,and 4 months back in the UK despite desperate searches in N Europe , the US, the Vatican and Rothley they still haven’t found her.
And lets be honest when they were in Portugal where did they actually look? people desperate to find a child would sleep in tents, use the cheapest form of transport use everything they own to find her

Garth, for what it is worth I use the words “trump card’ quite often so I know what you are saying and understand it.

Mods and Admin - you summed it up - ‘they lost her, not us’. Maybe you can explain to me and maybe others who do not prejudge ,then why the anti-mccanns are spending hours and hours day and night tearing apart their lives, smearing their names - I’m sorry I should say using satire - making some quite outrageous and nasty statements and speculations all in satire of course beyond the pale of how, when, where and why the young beautiful child managed to disappear? With all the concern they are showing for a child they didn’t lose, I’m surprised they haven’t all volunteered their time from the kindness and concern of their hearts for that young child and gone over to Portugal and spread out and covered other countries looking for the child or her remains to prove their theories.
