Remigius - How do we know that there is no evidence of an abductor? The police have not opened their files to the public. Surely, if there was credible evidence of an abductor, the police would be quietly getting on with tracking him down….they wouldn’t tell everyone!

The problem with “talking abduction” is it requires that there be an abductor.

and there is no evidence of an abductor.

The parents make this claim, but there is no evidence.

That is why we talk about other possibilities.

OK, the next step is for the McCanns to be interviewed by police - British and Portuguese. Suppose that following that interview the PJ believe that there is a case to answer and wish to charge the McCanns (and maybe their friends) with some crime. Clearly the crime would be ’serious’ by any country’s standards. Almost certainly the McCann’s lawyers would advise them not to go to Portugal voluntarily - they would be daft to go actually, since the last thing the PJ did was to make them formal suspects.

Does anyone know what the procedure is, and how long it would take to extradite them?

It seems to me that the behaviour of officials on both sides is dilatory, is not in the public interest and is certainly not in the interests of the twins, who are becoming more aware as the weeks roll on. I don’t know what sympathy I have for the parents, but their children are wholly innocent. Indeed, if Gerry McCann does read these posts (must be grim reading for him if he does) or, maybe, a friend or supporter reads them, I would strongly urge them to go back to Portugal to clear this up.

I too am speculating of course, I just think that the evening of the £rd would be too packed with activity to allow any cloak and dagger activities and that that particular evening was scripted. but not all that well.
