The truth ,is , that only in the Portuguese press ,you are able to see , the joy of a couple ,10 days after their daughter disapear !

AGW - I do not want to be nit-picking and agree that the McCanns have behaved in a most extraordinary way and exhibited an almost metallic front. Suffice to say, I do not believe, from the available evidence, that there was an abduction. However, you said in your last post that neither you nor anyone you know could have survived what the McCanns have gone through. I do understand your sentiments but, in that position, what would you have done then? You would either sink or swim. Most people swim although the damage would be irreparable. Consider some of the cot death mothers who were jailed, wrongly. Poor Sally Clark did survive for quite a time before succumbing. Others have tried to rebuild their lives with varying degrees of success. People survive because they have to.
As I have said, I do understand exactly what you mean. The loss of a child and then to be blamed wrongly seems unbearable. To go out playing tennis and running seems unbelievable. But you would almost certainly continue with life.

As valedictory’s go, your’s (part of which is repeated above) was at best a poor and misguided one. I sincerely hope the appearance of your former Nemesis elsewhere has nothing to do with your decision.
Certainly there will be accusations of cowardice, which I, for one, believe are not true. A retreat to gather strength and resources perhaps. You have after all flounced off into drawing rooms more than once.
Dictatorship? Well the less said the better as your nation yet again prepares to invest the balance of world power into the hands of whoever can best manipulate the system to a point where they are shoe-horned into an unimpeachable position (except on the odd notable occasion). Whoever is anointed will make a point of terrorising the world right out of its undergarments. That is the nature of Empire builders and world-policemen; it is as inevitable as day follows a long night.
You are of course in error yet again. The site is about debate not the battle lines you repeatedly appear to draw in the sand. I care not a jot about your histrionics or flashes of insight into what I have repeatedly warned you (from the very beginning) was a case with great wrongness about it and one which would run and run. All of which is reinforced daily as this sad and dreadful pantomime becomes less about a missing child and more about punishment or absolution for the world’s most besieged parents.
I do know with a clarity you perhaps could never comprehend, that I could not have survived such an onslaught. I am a truly hardened, tried and tested, man who has done and seen much…what does that say of the McCanns? Do they have such a solid faith in each other? Or is there a reason to be strong which no one can truly comprehend? I do see cracks in the armour but, again I have to repeat, neither I nor anyone I have EVER met could survive what that couple has had to endure.
You have constantly taken the viewpoint innocent until proved guilty. Which rather proves the point about free-thinking. Others have said “What if?” Neither side can be silenced in this sort of debate and contrary to your patently ridiculous accusations, both sides are given a fair crack of the whip here.
..and just for the record: I have no opinion on the guilt or innocence of individuals involved in the McCann tragedy. I do not know the answers.
I do know a retreat as massive as this of yours appears to be, is a shallow and vacuous act. That is the viewpoint of one who could never be described as brilliant or complex…I am a simple observer, a scribe.

Yesterday directors of a fund set up to help the search for Madeleine met in Leicester.
The fund, which once stood at more than £1.2million, is said to have plunged to around £500,000, and directors were discussing ways of boosting it.
Much of the cash is being used to pay a Spanish detective agency, which is charging £50,000 a month.

Going to watch T.V. and have another glass of wine——-Burgundy.
