Saturn,
I have been saying the same thing for ages.
Clarence is a liability to the couple and doing far more harm than good.
I have always asserted that he is in the pay of someone whom he is actually protecting at this couples expense.
They have lost their voice completely due to their spokesman. When he say "we" he is really saying "I".
This is all in my humble opinion of course but I have felt the same thing for a very long time.
Kate and Gerry are being forced into guilt. Where was this certain benefactor during the week of the 2nd of May?

Another way to look at Brian Kennedy's role in the "Madeleine McCann crisis" is to see him as the one who "privatized" Clarence Mitchell. Originally, Clarence was seemingly sent by the government (Gordon Brown/David Milliband), but later it was emphasized that Clarence quit his government job and had now been hired by Brian Kennedy (who had , I believe, never met him before), after Brian Kennedy mysteriously decided to help the McCanns, whom he had never met and did not know.

Now, if one accepts the possibility that Brian Kennedy is acting on behalf of someone at the Royal Bank of Scotland, we could say that it is the RBS that has "privatized" Clarence Mitchell.

That is speculative, but there is some concrete reality too: Clarence Mitchell is an employee of Brian Kennedy, as is Edward Smethurst, who is over-seeing Metodo3. One could see that Kennedy is thoroughly committed to this "cause" when he himself visited Morocco to personally check on some sightings. That news article was revealing: apparently poor people were carrying around photos of Madeleine asking if anyone had seen a girl like this, in the hope of winning Kennedy's jackpot reward. Of course, one of the "rules" for this lottery jackpot is that any sighting must be reported to Metodo3, who will "investigate".

In this way, Kennedy was sure to produce a number of sightings, and with the help of Metodo3 could use them for publicity. But it was astonishing that Kennedy himself was there on the ground personally over-seeing this. He is doing all this for the McCanns, whom he had never met before, but just felt "compelled" to help defend? Anyone who believes that must live in a fairytale world.

Many people have asked why the McCanns do not fire Clarence, who has effectively made them look guiltier than ever. The truth is the McCanns cannot fire Clarence Mitchell -- only his employer Brian Kennedy can fire him! That Kennedy does not do so, and himself takes an active part in Team McCann activities, proves that he is satisfied with Clarence's results.
Some people have suspected that the ruse is to eventually claim an unfair trial. But a simpler explanation is that the primary objective is not to help or protect the McCanns. The primary objective is to keep the focus on the McCanns, to make them look as guilty as possible, but to delay the advent of charges, while up to a point "defending" them by incessantly pronouncing their innocence.

Any majician (sic) knows that you make your move when the audience is focused somewhere else. While everyone is focused on the McCanns, arguing about their child neglect, their time-line, their guilt or innocense, (sic) the real culprit will disappear like magic.

Especially, if or when charges are finally made, along with revelations very damaging to the McCanns, the entire world will turn on them in a whirlwind of fury and rage. Even the most radical of "anti-McCanns" will be satisfied that justice is being done. The McCanns , through statements and miserable interview performances, will have lost all credibility, and even if they wanted to point the finger at "the real culprit", no one would believe them, and the financial support of their defense (sic) fund would drop out from under them.

Poor Kate and Gerry, I feel so sorry for them I almost want to send them a cheque.
