Online PR: Madeleine McCann Used To Sell Holiday Flats
MADELEINE McCann. A marketing tool.
A press release: “Northern Portuguese Villas Make Algarve Properties Look Like a Houses of Cards”
Oh:
Minho Villas offers an investment alternative in the north of Portugal to the possibly burnt out and overpriced Algarve. Various key and coincidental factors including the Maddie McCann episode and Portuguese property market as a whole potentially equate to negative balance sheet potential for new buyers on the south coast. While other areas of Portugal, especially the northern border with booming Galicia (Spain), could see a 360% return in just 10 years according to British Channel 4.
The clincher:
“Of course buying a property which does not appreciate much in value can still be a good investment if the holiday letting yields are good, but with an already noticeable backlash by the holidaying European public over what they see as the wholly unacceptable treatment of Madeleine McCann’s parents and the fact the Algarve is no longer consequentially considered a safe family destination, this is not such a bankable commodity as it once was on Portugal’s south coast. With vagrants targeting an area rich with high value homes, the Algarve seems to becoming a victim of it own success; try finding a vagrant targeting foreigners in other areas of Portugal though and you will be hard pushed”
Using fear and the case of a missing child to sell holiday flats…
Discuss.

Still nobody here? Will I stay or will I go?
I think they will clear the Mc Cs jsut to get it al out of the press and try and save the tourism.
We have zilch queries for our Luz holiday home this year compared to about 60 queries and full summer solid bookings this time last year.
Whether merely neglectful or indeed much worse, this pair have destroyed the lives of a lot of people in Luz, many of them ex-pat Brits who did not ask for or deserve this. And who helped search, etc etc.
Go to Luz, beautiful spot!

5 The only way to save the Portuguese tourist industry from suffering from all this negative campaign of disinformation is not to clear them, but instead to prove in court that the Portuguese are not to blame; others are.
On the other hand, as the case might drag on for quite some time, it doesn’t hurt to diversify the customer base for the tourist industry away from the British and attract, say, Russian tourists in their place. Then you guys could unreservedly give British bureaucrats the finger!

i have no interest in visiting this country or bringing my kids there.
absolutly the mccanns were wrong to leave their kids alone - however a crime happened and the police have not behaved or investigated this crime the way one would expect them to treat a case such as this.
it was a total cirus - i wouldnt feel safe as tourist going to this country, if i had a problem - i feel the police wouldnt be much help. poor child - i hope she is found eitherway.

13-Maria.
You ever heard of Stephen Lawrence?
A young lad murdered in cold blood, and the police investigation proven to be at best inadequate, and at worst… well, words fail me.
If I followed your feeble train of thought I wouldn’t want to live in a country where that happened either. But I do….
Grow up; think about what you say; and above all else….. don’t condemn an entire nation based on ONE isolated incident.
you know… I don’t often get annoyed enough to spend my time on replies that aren’t flippant or sarcastic, but in your case I’ll make an exception.
Unless of course, YOU were being sarcastic, in which case I apologise; and will quite rightly feel foolish for a while…
