Is Madeleine McCann Disappearing From The UK Press?
THE Anorak has been watching the media’s treatment of the Madeleine McCann story for some months.
The tragedy of a missing child was turned into a media feeding frenzy, a grim story with any gaps in the narrative plugged with speculation and voyeurism.
We were invited to become sleuths, armchair detectives working out who had done what and how. Nothing meaningful has been achieved by this. Madeleine McCann is missing.
Who cannot feel for those involved? Who would want to be them?
Now Anorak learns from a reader that the Madeleine McCann story may be disappearing from the British press, and newspapers’ websites.
Anorak’s team of moderators seeks to weed out libellous comments and anyone making accusations against individuals they cannot back up. We seek not to mirror the press but show you how the story is presented by media outlets to their audiences. Now read this:

Madeleine McCann is vanishing from the British Press
Every single story in the Daily Express and in the Daily Star regarding Madeleine McCann has disappeared.
This was the answer given by the Daily Express’ online editor, Geoff Marsh:
“Hi xxx, Many thanks for your email. For operational reasons, some articles previously available on express.co.UK have been temporarily removed. I’m afraid I can’t go into any more detail. Best wishes, Geoff”
And from the web team of Daily Express:
“Hi xxx
Many thanks for your email - and indeed your continued support as a regular reader.
I assure you, we do value you - and your input.
Daily Express
Due to operational reasons, a number of stories which previously appeared on express.co.uk have been made temporarily unavailable.Apologies if this causes any inconvenience or disrupts your use of our website.
I’m afraid I can’t go into any more detail.
However I would like to emphasise once again that we value your readership - and are grateful for your ongoing support of express.co.uk.
Best wishes
The Web Team”

Anorak - I detect a certain amount of glee - watching us fumble around in the darkness

bluddy ell, are you giving us the run around M & A ? lol
February 22nd, 2008 at 4:58 pm
In answer to the question - I would think there isn’t much to say about Madeleine at the moment, and the so-called recent “sighting” of her ( in France was it ? ) is just another ploy by the Press to keep selling papers.
Clarence and the McCanns vow to keep the ball rolling and to keep her in the public eye, so how else will they do it ? obviously they don’t intend to go out and get down and dirty doing it themselves !!

10 - Ann - sorry Ann, but are you the same Ann with the friend Christine?
February 22nd, 2008 at 5:02 pm
‘Tis I …returned from the sick-bed, but Kiwi has been keeping me up to scratch on things. We - that is Christine and us - are still waiting on events before the end of the month but I would truly like to know whether the lake search has now been completely abandoned and what happened to the search down the “mine-shaft” with the steps ? Does anyone know any more on that ? The powers-that-be tantalise us with these snippets and then it all goes quiet, or should I say “..whoosh clonk, it’s gone ” ??
February 22nd, 2008 at 5:04 pm
13 Ann - so good that you are back with us
I’ve not heard anything more about the lake search, not sure if anyone else has, although I’m sure we would have heard by now had anything been uncovered.
February 22nd, 2008 at 5:04 pm
would guess that a poster went too far in the Express or Star, action was thratened and to be safe everything was pulled. It happens… same as the Mirror.
As Anorak knows I’m sure, there is a line that must not be crossed. Some try it here… Speculation is one thing, stating untruths as facts is another.
Hence I have problems with the Joana Morais blog being constantly quoted here. It’s a blog and its skewed to her views. Same as the Aussie guy.
I could write whatever I wanted about Madeleine McCann and all her relatives on my blog…. I could write absolutely anything at all to suit my own theories but it wouldn’t be facts, it would be my perceptions.
I’m sure the McCann legal team will be looking at everything everywhere and I have to say, I don’t blame them.
Google is a fantastic tool for litigants.

Thanks for that my friend, I must say I tip-toed back on the Forum with one eye out for some-who-shall-not-be-named but I hope to enjoy some more banter and chucking around of opinions and theories . Agreed, if anything had been found in thelake we would have heard by now, but wasn’t it a shame that the guy who was footing the bill told the Police weeks before and nothing was done ? also - it would be awful if he has pulled out through lack of ability to continue with the funding and for the want of a little longer, something might have come to light.
I had a rough time health-wise and am assured it will be months before I will feel completely OK but I am sure I can sit here and bash a few keys for a while !!

Off topic but I viewed the personal link you put up yesterday afternoon, and I have to say that you are totally beyond amazing. I emailed the link to my ex-partner who has been in hospital for 4 weeks after trying to take his own life. I told him to take some time to read it, then really really decide whether or not his problems are that bad. God bless you x

Careful you lot !! she’ll just go all queenly on me !!

Hi Ann, nice to see you’re back.

Isn’t it sad, Madeleine disappeared, forums and articles are disappearing, soon nobody will remember her. Correction: allmost nobody. Unless something happens like charges or she’s really found.

Ann - Just ignore the plonkers
Im sure if the McCanns really wanted the lake searched, they would have funded it. If anything its probably the last thing they want done!

You are so very kind, thank-you. I really hope that the book can be of some help, after all, that was the only reason I ever had it published. I sincerely hope you ex partner can take comfort, and somehow see new reasons and positivity to move forward.

Thanks Totje !!
I don’t think anyone, us on Anorak for definite, will ever forget Madeleine if only for the way certain people exploited her, because that is what they surely did. A complete circus ensued and yet there have been other babes before and since, who have had nothing like the support and coverage she has had. Poor little soul seems to have been secondary to the whole thing and I do so wish that she would come to light very soon to get some closure for those who actually care…..and it ain’t Clarrie and the McConns !!! ( sounds like a 70’s pop group !! )

Poor him. Don’t get me started. He has left everyone who loved him angry, stressed and upset. We have to pick up the pieces while he languishes in bed all day, two hours out a day spent drinking as many pints as he can, then me receiving 65 texts a day explaining how its my fault he is in there and how when he gets out he will bring my world to the same level.
He didn’t just have a breakdown he has totally flipped. Nasty.

Wise words…sometimes the obvious is right under one’s nose, something might actually get found !!
On a lighter not, and totally off subject, here’s one for the ladies, before the dreaded op. I used to be a chocaholic but since then the very sight or thought of the stuff makes me gag !! How can this be ????Chocolate is the life-blood of woman-kind !! shall I sue for pain and distress ?????

Think he is too far gone to see hope in anything. Hence the ex. I could not understand how that dad could jump of the balcony with his children, but now I am beginning to see what state of mind he could have been in. My ex has threatened to take me and my children down to his level…its all terribly sad but I am just glad he was sectioned when I finally finished things. I have had time to change locks and get panic alarms fitted and contact the police. Its been a hard and stressful few weeks.
Anorak is responsible for keeping me going though!

Judging by all media being stopped concerning Madeleine, I’ll bet this circus is going to court. Yahoooooo ’bout time.
