Madeleine McCann And Shannon Matthews: Watching The Parents

maddie-robbie-williams Madeleine McCann And Shannon Matthews: Watching The ParentsMADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann and Shannon Matthews

BELFAST TELEGRAPH: “Missing: The contrasting searches for Shannon and Madeleine

Has class influenced the rewards offered and publicity given to two campaigns to find missing children? Cole Moreton goes to Dewsbury to investigate…

Two girls are missing:

Back in Britain, within those first 12 days, the McCanns got Premier League footballers to wear Madeleine T-shirts and athletes to run in yellow ribbons. They asked for advice from the likes of Phil Hall, former editor of the News of the World. And there was another factor: Madeleine was cute, and Kate McCann good-looking.

The cameras loved her, even when she broke down during a press conference, clutching her daughter’s pink Cuddle Cat.

Such reporting sheds no light on the case, but all on the parents.

Karen Matthews is not as elegant, nor as eloquent. Middle England may not envy her life, or identify with it. But the 32-year-old looked as lost and in pain as any other mother would when she broke down in tears outside her home the day after Shannon went. “I’m begging you, baby, please come back,” she said. But it seemed that almost as much attention was paid to the fact that Karen has had seven babies by five fathers. Shannon’s dad Leon Rose left four years ago.

Must be losing his boyish good looks poor sod!

  4. 4 Matt. Says:

I do not agree that Dr K is “good looking”.

    End of rant.

  5. 5 noseycow Says:

    Brandon - I love Robbie :)

  6. 6 brandon flours Says:

    Nosey

    I’ll pass him on lol

  7. 7 brandon flours Says:

BF read the thread, its a comparison between the looks of mothers and children

  8. 8 brandon flours Says:

Has Clarrie remained silent since the taxi story thing?
    ****
    Seems so.
Funny thing: I read somewhere over the weekend that “a” spokesman for MCs said something. Not “the” or “their” spokesman …
    *****************************************************

The reason for the “silence” is quite simple.

Team McCann is currently attempting to return Dr K’s anatomy back to
some degree of normality following further “archings from the silent
screams of anguish”, as she realised the nearing of her 40th birthday.

  12. 12 Logic Says:

Good morning, everyone. I have just been reading through yesterday’s posts. Long live single mothers! And also married ones! And all those who look after their children as best they can. However, let’s be honest about it - someone who has 7 children with 5 different fathers without adequate means to give them a good chance, is by definition irresponsible. Would most of us want her for our best friend? I don’t think so. But, of course, the child is just as important as any other child that has been born. It’s probably more important to show care for that family than other more adequate families. However, I can see why people find it difficult to identify with that family.

  13. 13 Matt. Says:

    12…Logic

And you shout at posters who judge Harry ?

    Heavens.

  14. 14 Logic Says:

    Matt 13

Do you disagree with what I said then? Do you think kids get a fair crack at the whip with parents like that?

  15. 15 noseycow Says:

    11 Matt - naughty :)

    12 logic - 5 different fathers - i’d call her lucky ;)

  16. 16 val Says:

    4 Matt

You sound like Ian, he doesn”t think Kate is attractive, actually I do!! Admit she
is a bit scrawny now but you really couldn”t call her ugly could you.

Bye the way, Good Morning all, just popped in to see if there was any news.

Matt these are double entendres aired on T.V.and Radio, should amuse you.

    1. Pat Glenn, weightlifting commentator - “And this is Gregoriava from Bulgaria.
I saw her snatch this morning and it was amazing!

    2. New Zealand Rugby Commentator - “Andrew Mehrtens loves it when Daryl
    Gibson comes inside him.”

There are more, I Can”t stay long, will post them later.

  17. 17 Matt. Says:

    14…Logic

    Yes I do disagree.

The current situation of Shannon is the concern.

  18. 18 Matt. Says:

    16…val

Attractiveness is in the eye of the beholder.

    Some might find her so.

    Not to my taste though.

    I prefer brunettes. :)

  19. 19 Logic Says:

    17 Matt

I accept you have a different opinion to mine. However, I repeat, do you think parents like that are giving their children a fair chance in life?

  27. 27 AgendaWide Says:

‘Karen Matthews is not as elegant, nor as eloquent’. I don’t think these are the real reasons for the different media treatment of each story and interest from celebrities, especially if the Panorama interview with the less than articulate Kate is anything to go by. I think it may be more to do with the lifestyle advertised by each couple. The McCanns’ lifestyle (unlike Shannon’s family) look like the have-it- all lifestyle that few parents actually have - money, careers, friends, children and time for pampering and love.

  28. 28 val Says:

    14 Logic Good Morning

I agree, it is irresponsible to have so many children by different Fathers and in this
day and age of free contraception etc, sheer laziness on the part of Shannon”s Mum.

Before I go, you wanted to know the magic ingredient which hastened my recovery.
the last prescription was Antibiotics, a New type Inhaler (Seretide 250 Accuhaler)
and very small red coated tablets. I”m sure it was the tablets, I had to take 6 every
morning for five days, the name began with P…….very helpful I know!!!!!! As I said to the Woman doctor who prescribed them when I had to back for a checkup,
why couldn”t these have been prescribed before? See me next time you need a
    diagnosis she said.

  29. 29 Logic Says:

    dcb

Yes, I do. Being a good parent is nothing to do with whether one is married or not. It’s to do with the love and security you can offer a child. Things do change in life and sometimes people are deserted, widowed etc etc. Shannon’s mother is probably not a very happy secure person and maybe deserves sympathy. Or maybe she is usually very happy and likes the life she has chosen. But choose it she DID - and it is not a life that lends itself to a secure upbringing for her children. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t love them. All I know is - my chilren wouldn’t like it if I brought man after man into our home - they’d probably leave.
