Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat’s Relief

murat1.jpgMADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann

DAILY MIRROR: “Murat: It’s big relief”

Madeleine McCann suspect Robert Murat, 34, last night spoke of his joy that he looks likely to be officially cleared in days.

After having his computers returned, he said at his Praia da Luz home last night: “I’m so relieved.”

No mention of the Mirror’s super sleuth Lori Campbell who fingered “weird” Murat.

DAILY MAIL: “Murat could soon be cleared as Madeleine suspect after police return his possessions”

Even his computer - with the Sun’s “kid porn”.

His lawyer Francisco Pagarete said: “The police received an order from the public prosecutor to give everything back to Robert. All his items have been returned. We believe it is another step towards his clearance as a suspect. It’s a good sign.
“But we will have to wait and see. There is nothing official saying his status as an arguido is being revoked.”

Even if yesterday the Sunday People had “CLEARED” him.

No word from the The Mail’s Neil Sears, who told us: “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.” Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.

DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Robert Murat close to being cleared over Madeleine McCann disappearance”

Robert Murat has moved a step closer to being cleared as a suspect in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance after police returned possessions seized from him 10 months ago.

Says hi mother, Jenny Murat, 74: “Every single item that the police took has been returned to us. Of course we hope it means Robert’s arguido status will be lifted shortly. But we’ve had no official confirmation that that is the case and we’re not getting too excited.”

The Panorama transcript is a transcript of the TV programme so I’m sure you’d find that helpful if you’re unable to hear the programme. Check back to late afternoon / early evening where I posted the link or find it on BBC News.

    Ian
I absolutely agree that any death, accident or otherwise, occurred before 3/5.

    Val
Wasn’t ignoring you. I’d probably enjoy meeting you. I have met with about 12-15 people from the two ’sites I moderate, some of them a number oif times, and every experience has been good.

Not only that. The doors were open, for reason that
    1. they didn’t want to wake up the kids when opening with a key
    2. the children would be able to get out incase of e.g. a fire [meaning they realised there WAS a risk in leaving them alone]
yet, KM said later on that she was convinced that Madelein couldn’t have wondered off, because she would have been unable to open the door …”

Yeah…….all of this of course only stated AFTER PJ and MW had categorically denied jemmied shutters etc…..and in contradiction to several early phone calls home reporting to relatives that the flat was locked !!!
I would bet that the Jon Corner video simply refers to ‘open’ window and shutters ….can’t check myself …..hope someone answers that. This is one of the trickiest aspects of the whole thing for them imo…..

“That someone had the good sense to phone the foreign office and the press. I would. and anyone else I thought could help”

Maybe you would……but you would not get the amazingly fast and puzzlingly ‘hands on’ reaction which this case elicited. In paerticular the conveyamcing of instructions via consular advice to the head of the PJ to treat the case as one of abduction !!!! So it was not only the parents who insisted on this for the beginning….have we a good link for this handy ? And the prompt assignment of Sheree Dodd, CM and Justine McGuiness…..plus Woolford and co of course………just a trifle OTT no ?

One last post, listen very carefully, I will say this only once……

Kate said in her Diary that Madeleine was a handful, that Gerry wasn”t much help and
I think that was why the PJ suggested that Kate killed Madeleine accidentally. This
is going to be very difficult to prove, obviously without a body, and the DNA evidence
found in the car may not be conclusive. Plus the McCann Lawyers will have closed all
the loopholes and unless something really dramatic is revealed after the interviews, I
wouldn”t be surprised if the case is shelved.Sad to say.

Basically, they might have imbibed on holiday in the evenings, but normally I would
think they led pretty normal lives. Gerry had only been told while they were on holiday that he had been awarded a Research Grant and had studied evenings and weekends. In that respect what with his job and Private work, he would have had very little time for the children and Kate.

Anyway, I will bid you and Ian Goodnight, and been nice “talking” to you.

    val,

    get back in here! :D

i’ll accept this from you if it’s your humane side talking or, or, even if it’s because you know them and feel you need to say this in their defence.

but i’m not swallowing (not saying you’re asking me to either) simply because it has no role in the investigation of what is now the Vanishing of Madeleine McCann. IMHO. except, except, that it then causes one to ask if Kate ‘lost it’……………..with the outcome sadly being The Fingering Of Kate. careful there, val.

    nice talking to you too.
