Madeleine McCann: Heather Mills, Bad Jokes And A Lynch Mob
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SCOTSMAN: “Child molester escapes mob”
A convicted child molester, Santiago del Valle Garcia, arrested in connection with the violent death of a five-year-old Spanish girl, narrowly escaped a mob who tried to grab him from a police van.
The man has yet to be charged with kidnapping and killing Mari Luz Cortes.
The girl disappeared less than two hours’ drive from where Madeleine McCann vanished in May 2007.
Is a two hour drive so very near? It takes around one and a half hours to drive from London to Birmingham, or across London.
CBS NEWS: “Loathing Heather Mills - Why Britain Hates The Former Mrs. McCartney”
You either love her or you hate her but the chances are that if you are British and you have ever heard her or seen her - you probably hate her. Heather Mills - the ex-Mrs Paul McCartney - is our latest willing export across the Atlantic. We loathe her - I mean really, really loathe her.
Well, most of us admire Lady Heather, but as for love, that would be stretching things. Can we settle on lusting after her? But what has this do with a missing child?
She likened herself to Princess Diana, and even the unfortunate parents of the missing little girl, Madeline McCann. All we lacked was her own personal account of coming under sniper fire in Bosnia.
THE TIMES: “Scott Capurro at the Soho Theatre, W1”
Scott Capurro has built a reputation for shocking audiences, but the only thing that was unsettling about this show – apart from his laboured attempt to get some mileage out of the Madeleine McCann case – was how stale and complacent much of his material was.
Jokes about Madeleine McCann are not all that shocking. A child is missing.
THE SPOOF: “Shannon takes on Madeleine”
In blatant plagiarism Terence Cloth reports that the British hide and seek champion, Shannon Matthews, is trying for European glory.
This task may well prove difficult though as the current European champion, Madeleine McCann, has still yet to be found.
Here’s a better joke, or not.

Why are the mccanns so keen on finding any relationship between the 2 cases?
This is beyond my understanding
I am wondering if they know what is going to be published/said by clarrie

Jo - my blood pressure rises every time I hear about the McCanns these days. The whole cherade makes me sick. They always have to have an opinion on other cases, and always try to be involved. Making their demands! who do they think they are? The would be good to remember they are suspects, they should be ashamed.

From the other end of the looking glass
Louise Woodward case
About the truth justice and the media (comment from a poster)
“Since the whole case exploded I have felt that there is something vital that has not surfaced, whether it be evidence or hidden truths, there is something that just seems not right. Watching the interview on Panorama I found myself drawing two conclusions. Either A, Louise Woodward is an innocent girl who has been a victim of an appalling miscarriage of US justice. Or B, Louise Woodward is one of the best liars that I have ever seen in my life. I cannot draw any further conclusions than that, I do feel though that the truth will finally surface and there’ll be a few surprises in store.
Let us remember that a child has lost his life here and the truth must be persued until the very end.

What a sad story. How could he have avoided spending a day in prison with his record.
March 28th, 2008 at 8:41 am
While we are waiting for something to happen i.e. Santiago del Valle Garcia getting lynched by angry mob, Madeleine being found alive and well in a Disneyland and so on, why don’t we all play the Anorak equivalent of “I Spy” or other such games one plays whilst waiting for bus/train/plane to arrive/depart/get built ? For starters, why does my dog bring me a “pressie” when I come home, as in slipper, old sock, manky bone etc , and then refuse to let me take it from him ? What is his point in bringing it to me ? is this to show me how clever and dexterous he is in the mandible department ? is it a sort of canine equivalent of “look at what you could have had” ? …what ….???

This exactely what the Cortes are after
This is really outrageous
The guy has a history of sexual abuse and walks free and happily carry on feeding his vice
Juan Cortes is saying he wants to avoid the mental problems approach in the guy”s defence bec ause he is NOT crazy.
Paedos KNOW very well what they are doing
Not excuses no pity
I watched the mob yesterday
The guy does not stand a chance and his family either
I knew this since the beginning: better the cops find the guy and deal with him than the Cortes family and extended fam/friends to avoid a blood shed
Now how comes the Guardia Civil didnt arrest the man since the start?
They simply couldnt. They didnt have the proof yet and I believe they also knew Mari Luz had died as this happens, unfortunately, with this kind of crime. The cops generally hold on crucial informations to avoid to mess up the investigation….
So sad

SteveT - If the interviews take place, isnt it the last ditch attempt? does it mean that if they can find no new evidence the arguido status will be lifted and that will be the end of it? the dr’s will be free?

Morning Jo,
No, not especially slow. Easter is a four day bank holiday in England, unlike the continent, so a lot of people take a week off work and go away.
Actually Anorak has had a surge of interest in the last week or so and a lot of new posters have registered, across all the threads. Don’t forget that the MM thread is only one of dozens of news items we cover every day. And the forums also cover another set of different threads generated by the posters, so we can be very busy even if this thread seems quiet.

Depends who you believe. I think it is just crossing the Ts and dotting the Is to make the case watertight and prevent the case being lost on a technicality. I should warn you that I am a bit of an optomist!

The interviews will take place and the PJ will do its job with the eveidence in hand because they have it
We do not know for sure and officially for which crime IF there is a crime.Madeleine is reported on the portuguese official lists as a “missing” child.Lets see what reads in the DNA and other physical evidence they might have found
Wether who/how/why some may be charged or not we do not know because nothing has happened yet
The only thing we know is that there are 3 suspects and may be suspects in 3 different “crimes”
I cant find a link saying if they dont answer they could keep their arguidos status for a cool 20 years…..will look for the link

Here’s some better news for you:
The govt today announced a new reality TV show to solve the problem of prison over-crowding.

So impressed by its exclusive preview that the Daily Excess has awarded the Show an unprecedented 550.000 gold star rating.
Set in the lovely compound of Rothley Fort, suspects are given a bucket of piriton syrup to drink after which they try to resist police questions and comatosis. Celeb guest McDuction Criers, Prof McPloy and SuperMcNanny K are on hand to give expert advice on distraction and dog-handing tactics.
“We have 2 dots on a graph that proves we can abolish prisons.” Said Minister McPink. ” I’m 103% sure that the Show is innocent of any unethical under-clones!”
‘Strictly Cry McDuction: The Musical’ and ‘ Strictly Back-Fitting ‘ the interactive video game are also now available from all govt depts.

Apparently the PJ have asked the doctors for an interview and have been told to either phone in or come in first thing in the morning and speak to the receptionist as they dont make advance appointments.
