Madeleine McCann: Tapas Seven, Private Jet and Rollerskating To The Moon
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
MAIL ON SUNDAY: “‘Tapas Seven demanded private jet and 5-star hotels to return to Portugal for Maddie reconstruction,’ Portuguese police claim”
Tapas Nine. Sangria Seven.
Portuguese police trying to stage a reconstruction of the night Madeleine McCann disappeared are now making allegations in the Portuguese press about the McCann’s friends. They allege the “Tapas Seven” - the friends dining with Gerry and Kate McCann last May - have refused to travel unless extravagant demands, such as private jet travel and five-star hotel accommodation, are met.Judicial sources in Portugal told the tabloid newspaper 24 horas that the families had demanded the ultra-expensive flights to the Algarve for them and their children as a condition of returning.
Reporting on the reports. In any case, how else should the “Tapas Seven” get to Portugal? And should they pay for themselves?
One said: “Requests for cooperation were sent to various people living outside of Portugal, namely the McCanns, the seven friends they were having tapas with the night Madeleine disappeared, the two spokespeople they had, a friend Gerry McCann was playing tennis with and another friend, Jeremy Wilkins.
“We’ve already received several responses. No one’s said ‘no’.
“But the demands they make to return are impossible to entertain.
“One of the couples demanded a private jet to travel with their children to the Algarve. Another demanded they be put up in a five-star hotel.
“The demands they all made demonstrate a clear strategy by lawyers. The only thing missing from the list was a request that we send them to the moon on skates.”

Demands, demands, demands…..
Pity none of them seem to give a toss about anyone other than themselves….especially not the little girl who was once at the heart of the matter.

My understanding of Clearance’s comments about Rebelo is something like while the cat’s away the mice will play but this reference suggests that the portugues may regard it as an insult to Rebelo. Night folks

Clarence Mitchell/McCanns: The Gloves are off! Are they affirming that the Portuguese Police is Corrupted??
Is Clarence and the McCanns (he is their spokesman) affirming that the Portuguese Police is Corrupted? Yes they are! Even worst they attack directly Paulo Rebelo: “Mitchell had earlier claimed that it seemed to be no coincidence the leak had occurred while Rebelo was in the UK interviewing witnesses in the case. He said: It is beyond curious this leak has occurred while Rebelo is in the UK.” This wasn’t the first time they attacked the Portuguese Judiciary Police credibility spreading lies and smears, and it wasn’t the first time they have tried to undermine the Police’s work, but I do hope that this is their Last Spin.
BTW Is there no Ramada Jarvis in Portugal?

Maybe another time we’ll manage to be on our own. It will feel better if we have to wait for it.
What do I think ? Things have really been moving on this past week, more than I thought they would. It seems to me the PJ aren’t going to shelve the case, good news, and I don’t know if I am right, but I guess the British Police is on their side, which I think is very important.
On the other hand, I am surprised at how nasty Clarrie is, and how impertinent and unhelpful all the Tapas are. I know it is not important, but all of them are rude. They have no manners, no dignity, they are barbarians, which I knew already : only barbarians can drink their wine the way they did, drinking it alternately with beer, any time of the day, and gulping it rather than sipping it. I bet they can’t make the difference between good wine and bad stuff. They only deserve plonk.
I already knew they were barbarians not only because of the way they drink their wine, but because they are callous to children. You judge the value of a person to the way that person treats someone under their authority.
I don’t know what will happen now. They still look so sure of themselves, and it doesn’t seem to be only a facade. Let us wait Saul. And let us hope for justice.
What do you think?

Marie Nicholas - Agree. They have not shown any signs of having class. They will do anything to stay within their perceived new found social class, including covering up what happened to their three year old daughter, Madeleine, IMO.

I have been observing for some time now. The thing that gets my attention , is the amount of publicity from high and influential places this case is receiving. It would seem that the whole episode has switched to the parents. I think the key is Madeleine, lots of children go missing every year, for some reason this is a special case. If the reason why she is so special is revealed, then I think it will be big news and explain a lot of things.

Saul
Difficult to say if the case is special because of Madeleine, or because of her parents, or because the media made it special.
Who pays for Clarrie’s salary should give us food for thought. Sense should tell us that person is protecting himself as well as the MCs, one way or the other. He is staying in the background, never talks, but he is Clarrie’s boss. He is the boss.

Miss Match
I hate the way they are making fun of the PJ, by asking for a private jet etc… They may think they are funny, they aren’t.
Because of their stupid way of life, and lack of care, a child was lost, and now they smugly tell the Police to concentrate on looking for her, rather than making them arguidos . There is something sham about them. And now, Clarrie taunting Mr. Rebelo publicly! He should be given pills to quiet himself down!
April 12th, 2008 at 12:53 am
Marie Nicholas - I agree with you. They have lost touch with reality through their arrogance. However, the PJ and British Police hopefully have an idea of what they are really like and what triggers their agenda.
April 12th, 2008 at 12:56 am
Why not put them all up on the OC resort, it was good enough for their holiday and
is probably empty because what happened there last year has affected bookings!!!!!!!!
Seriously, I think this is a load of tosh, if they really have made these demands it”s
another PR stunt to delay the inevitable.

I am unable to match your incisive thoughts but I have just spent the last hour or so skimming the news channels. I was hoping Agent Wilde’s email wold have got some notice but no. Nothing of the pink ones furious words either. Just the merest glimpse, without comment, of tomorrow’s newspaper headlines.
The tide is surely turning, maybe I am impatient, frustrated or even ‘furious’ that UK TV news and most of the serious press do not now recognise a shift in the sands.
To bed…

What awful behavior from the T10! The more they misbehave, the more people and authorities (probably have an inkling anyway) will be taking notice. What are they involved in (T10)!

A translation of 24 horas newspaper from TA’s ‘Li’ below:
Jane Tanner’s declarations to the Police casts doubt on the McCanns
Key witness that claimed the kidnapping backwards
The Portuguese police still believe that Gerry and Kate are connected to the disappearance of the daughter. This conviction was strengthened with the visit to England. A couple’s friend also helped
The thesis of the eventual abduction of Madeleine McCann was compromised by the interrogatories made this week in Leicester, England. The key witness that claimed that Maddie was taken wrapped in a blanket by a man on the 3rd of May of 2007 from a flat in Praia da Luz, Algarve, was heavily shaken when she admitted to the authorities that she only left the Tapas Bar, where she dinned with the McCanns and more six friends, after the alarm given by Kate. Jane Tanner admits that she saw a person before she went to dine but she did not see with precision what that person was carrying and it could be a simple tenant of the Ocean Club. “It was a precious deposition because it permits to concentrate the investigation in only one line, meaning that Maddie’s parents are involved in the disappearance of the child direct or indirectly”, said to 24 Horas a high judicial responsible connected to the process. According to the same source, “the thesis of an eventual abduction is more and more weak”. “It would be good that the McCanns and friends accepted to come to Portugal to do a reconstruction on the 15th and 16th of May, of all the events that occurred between the 18 and 23 hours of that day”. And the same responsible launches an appeal:” This is not a cat and mouse game. This is not a game. It is the life of a child we are talking about. If they want to help fine but if they demand things that the authorities cannot accomplish… No one cam make miracles if there is no cooperation from them”.
The team of three persons that the PJ sent to England, returned yesterday to Portugal. Next Monday they will meet with the director of the PJ Guilhermino da Encarnação as well as with the public prosecutors Luis Verão and Magalhães e Menezes. The objective is to evaluate all the interrogatories made in England and decide the next steps.
